I think I was too focused on forcing my way through the bad dialouge, story, and QTEs instead of trying to invest myself into the setting and story. Probably why I wasn't immersed and ended up disliking the game. Yeah to each his own I reckon. I really didnt think I'd like the game from the get go but I ended up playing through it multiple times.[QUOTE="carljohnson3456"]It dont matter, I'm just trying to figure out why would someone would seriously deny that Heavy Rain was immersive... ya know, the "deep" part I get really. But for me, Heavy Rain was almost as immersive as any console game I've ever played. And as for PC versus console, yeah, yeah, PC supreme, yada, yada. Stevo_the_gamer
xbox 360's core demographic is the bro gamer, and pre teens with goose voices. PS3 has its share of those, but theres a reason games like Demon's Souls, Heavy Rain, and Journey sell well. If Demon's Souls were 360 exclusive, America would have never got Dark Souls
Yeah to each his own I reckon. I will admit that the best part of the game was the sound design, I really loved the music in the game. Absolutely superb.

Gotta say, I didnt like Flower at all. The motion control was super frustrating and I just didnt find the game fun or immersive in anyway. I even redownloaded it last week just to see if maybe my taste for the game might have change... it didnt.Meh, my experience is that the most hyped up PS3 games are mostly flash. I have to play journey and flower still (never touching Heavy Rain) but I'm not expecting much. That said my friend who played Journey said it was incredible if not over priced.

[QUOTE="Pikminmaniac"]Pretty much this. No one has mics. No one plays online. No one buys the exclusives. Inconclusive sales data. . . Could be purple and green aliens for all we know, the fact that no one ever hears you or sees you gives you the anonymity to claim whatever you want. How am I to know if the person I just played against is a jerk or a kid if they don't have a mic and don't communicate? How you came to the conclusion that any of what you just wrote makes sense is beyond me. I sure hope you put a little more effort in what you say IRL.no offense, but from my experience, the people who are fans of Sony have a tendancy of being the most immature gamers out there

I agree. But I understand them really trying to sell this as fact and a plus. They're hurting and all 3 would do anything to change it.In regards to content, they're not wrong. Sony has shown they're more willing to go for "different" kinds of gaming experiences than the other two publishers. And they're succeeding, so apparently there's an audience for them. Still, while there's truth to their words, I think they're overselling it.

The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 have a fairly comparable game library. Small differences do exist, though. Perhaps the widest gap is between the two systems' digital offerings.
That's where Jenova Chen, Thatgamecompany lead designer (Journey), noticed a difference. "Sony has a more artistic and adult-focused taste" Chen said in an email conversation with GamesBeat. "They care about how grown-ups feel toward their games.""Our primary PSN audience is indeed more adult, and many of our best-selling titles appeal to this demographic," senior director of PlayStation digital platforms Jack Buser told GamesBeat. "Many PlayStation and PSN games have themes that require a user to think and feel about a deep, immersive gameplay experience, and we see that exemplified in the success of titles like Flower, Journey, and Heavy Rain. Titles like these can only be found on PlayStation, and our users enjoy the emotional and thematic sophistication of their games, especially with our digital offerings."

I hear mixed opinions. I wanna try since despite the fact that it seems I have already decided these games will suck, I am just sceptical. My friend really liked both so I will just play and then see. Most indie games from Cave Story to Night Sky just haven't been what they were hyped to be for me. Good even great games but not god tier like I always hear.
[QUOTE="Miketheman83"]Lol at thinking video games are some high art form. Pretentious much? Video games are supposed to be fun, no more no less.BadoshNever played Journey, confirmed. I only play fun games.
But the 360 has more WRPg's than the Ps3 so i fail to see what you are talking about, WRPG's sell very well on the 360 thats why Witcher 2, Risen, Ego draconis and torchlight are on the 360, in fact the 360 beats the Ps3 in WRPG's,Flight sims, RTS and space flight sims, people need to lose the myth that the 360 only does shooters, especially when the Ps3 actually has more exclusive shooters than the 360 doesxbox 360's core demographic is the bro gamer, and pre teens with goose voices. Have you met LoosingENDS, Forcagearsface, Phonesmug, Pikminmaniac or Reach3?no offense, but from my experience, the people who are fans of Sony have a tendancy of being the most immature gamers out there

Yep that's why I like Sony. They have the guts to publish original exclusives, yet making sure they are top quality. Heavy Rain, Uncharted etc have changed the way I view gaming forever (yes Uncharted is original, deal with it!).
This sounds more like a 15-yr old telling a 14-yr old how adult, cerebral, and artistic he is.
Forget such talk and be happy gaming.
We're all part of the Toys R Us Crowd.
I have yet to meet a mature sony fanboy in real life tbh. Just because you OWN one doesn't really mean anything; it's being a fanboy that's dumb.
This is the biggest f*cking joke I've ever read. I guess this developer has never heard of the PC. I'd like for this idiot to play To the Moon, Botanacula, Sword and Sworcery, and then tell me the PS3 audience are the ones that appreciate art and mature games the most.
because Sword and sworrcery totally wasn't ported from the iphone/pod to PC. LOL Herm using IOS games to defend his systemThis is the biggest f*cking joke I've ever read. What a mature, adult argument.
sony is becoming the apple of video games,
their fans are just a bunch of pretentious idiots, that take a few good games try and steam roll the competition with their "adult" and "artistic" superiority.
Unfortunatly the rest of the systems have a good balance between adult, artistic, and fun games. There is a healthy mentality on xbox, pc, wii... if a game looks like fun try it! The truth is we people can appreciate the mature and artistic games on 360, and the childishly fun games, aslo adults tend to have kids and having a kinect is wonder butter on top of the good games it offers.

I have always considered consoles and PC separated gaming environments that appeal to different types of people. I think he was obviously talking about consoles since that's where the PS3 primarily competes.[QUOTE="kuraimen"][QUOTE="Frostbite24"]

[QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"][QUOTE="TintedEyes"] it's is really immersive actuallycarljohnson3456I actually felt I was brushing my teeth in the beginning. C'mon now. Heavy Rain was an immersive experience, but not for the tedious QTE, but for the story and decisions you make effecting the outcome. One of my favorite games of that year. i cant recall a single memorable moment from that game other than the finger part. I didnt think the story was all that great
All one has to do is go on XBL and PSN and you will see the difference. Lems contradict themselves, they say there are just as many jerks and immature people on PSN as XBL, but then they say no one on PSN uses a mic, so which one is it Lems?
Another aspect is the PS brand has been around longer than the Xbox one, and many of it's games appeal to adults more so than the 360. Games like Heavy Rain, MGS4, Uncharted ect....all have more adult themes than games like Halo or Gears, which seem like something a 12 year old would invent
"Oh look we can play as a cyborg army marine man who kills purple and green aliens, oohh cool now you fight zombies! Awesome!"
And Gears is even more so
"Oh ya I get to be prison army man with bi muscels who chainsaws monsters that come out of the ground, oh and now you get to run around with a bunch of other big guys with chainsaws! And one of them has a bad emo teen romance with ded wife! Woohoo"!
The PlayStation brand simply appeals more to adults and mature people. 360 is aimed at teenagers and kids. Just look at Kinect and Sesame Street, or the Xbox dashboard, big colorful boxes that have ads and disney like cartoon avatars. It's basically just the teenager version of the Wii. Lems will not like this post, but it's the truth.
