Yep, I have 13 Blu-ray movies for it. I also have Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight on Blu-ray looks sweet
When I had my PS3, I played both games and movies on it. I found it funny that when they stole my PS3 and all my games, they left all the movies. So now I have like 6 Blu-Ray movies that collect dust until I get another PS3.
Show me one instance where Blu Ray is "necessary" for games.[QUOTE="Bigboi500"]

Bluray is necessary this generation, but Lems will tell you differently because M$ doesn't use it. It's got great capacity (25gb, 50gb, 100gb, 200gb, and 250gb), scratch resistant, and best quality video and audio vs (9gb, 18gb) scratchable, and normal quality video and audio.

MGS4...unless you want it on about 10 DVD's. DVD's will go the way of CD's when it comes to gaming. It was only a few years ago I could go to Best Buy and buy any new PC game on DVD or CD, go try to find a game on CD now.
I knew someone would say that. But no, it's still not necessary and it wouldn't be on ten DVDs.I only buy DVDs. Blu Ray movies are a scam.nethernova:lol::lol::lol: A scam. Please....do tell, do tell.
We gave away our DVD player when I got the PS3, if someone wants to watch a movie they just rent the blu-ray from blockbuster and play it on the ps3.
I have 2 blu-ray movies: Dark Knight and Vantage Point. and also I have every single episode of 24 season 7 aired so far on my PS3 HDD.
[QUOTE="Senor_Kami"]Paying for a PS3 and not watching Blu-Ray films seems like the most epic of epic fails imo.Zassimick
Unless, you know, you want to play the games that are on the system. :|
Not using the Blu-Ray player is like paying $200K for a sportscar and never driving it. You could have purchased a civic that does the same thing, but you paid so much more for the extra bells and whistles... yet you let the thing sit in the driveway to atrophy. I'm not saying Blu-Ray is the only worthwhile feature, but it's a major feature. Why wouldn't you use it? It's like buying a HDTV, seeing that it picks up HD stations, but you still only watch the SD ones. LOL, why would you do that?[QUOTE="Zassimick"][QUOTE="Senor_Kami"]Paying for a PS3 and not watching Blu-Ray films seems like the most epic of epic fails imo.Senor_Kami

LOL, why would you do that?I don't use it all that much because I don't have an HDTV so while there is a difference between DVD and blu-ray it is so subtle and barely noticeable.
And gaming is such a more worthy feature to me than the blu-ray player. How else could I have played MGS4, Uncharted, Resistance 2, Heavenly Sword, and all the other games I have played without a PS3? To me, that's much more important than the blu-ray player and its the reason I bought the console: for gaming. HD-movies are just a plus once I get my HDTV.
I watch blue ray, use the media server (hulu, netflix), installed Linux, use the web browser, play games. I use my ps3 so much Im worried its gonna die like my xbox 360 did.
I use and love it often .. We almost exclusively rent blu ray now ( this is of course after purchasing a 42" 1080p set ) ..
The detail is absolutely amazing .. if you have never seen a good movie in blu ray , at 1080p and preferably with 5.1 or more channels of surround , you really owe it to yourself to go do so .. I suppose its really no better than any other full 1080p feed , but its the only readily available source of multi hour length full HD entertainment media ..
so yes , i use blu ray cause its the new dvd .. like how I rarely picked up a vhs tape when dvd hit .. or how tapes took vinyls place , only to be dethroned by CD's , which are now being destroyed by the mighty MP3 .. its here , and as with most major formats , were going to be enjoying blu ray for 10 years or more . and there will be a future where you do not see dvd's at the movie store ..
Might I add that Cnet and other sites have reviewed the PS3's blu ray capabilities amongst its highest ! and claim that factoring the gaming, multimedia, internet, and networkingcapability in puts it in a class all its own , far surpassing the value and versatility of any other blu ray players on the market
i have way more blu-ray movies for my PS3 than games lol. i boughtmy PS3 the day after warner bros. abandoned HD DVD. I'd say i use my PS3 equally for games and movies though, lately SF4 has been really hard to keep away from.
Part of the reason I got my PS3 was for its Blu-Ray capability. Aside from games, I use the player quite a bit. Me and the girlfriend watch movies and it looks absolutely great on my Samsung 46". I've got a nice Blu-Ray collection that keeps growing, and just last night we watched Tropic Thunder because she had never seen it and she had a good laugh!
Extremely important, I wanted to play PS3 games and the offer of a blu ray player included was far too good to pass up... I have about 38 Blu Rays ( including Band of Brothers box set and Terminator: TSCC) Just got the Quantum of Solace Blu Ray through Today :DHow important is the Blu Ray player to you?
