[QUOTE="wiretoss"][QUOTE="RonnieLottinSF"]When will people learn to stop using VGchartz?RonnieLottinSF
When will people learn it's really no different than NPD.
It just uses fewer sources.
Anything that gives you sales numbers are all RELATIVE.
Quit spreading the rumor that VGchartz are TOTALLY off.
You really believe that don't you? So, so sad.
Also VGchartz on more than one occasion in here has been proven wrong and even mentioning VGchartz on Neogaf = suspension or ban. Why? Because the people who run VGchartz when asked how they get their numbers, especially Europe and Asia numbers, couldn't come up with anything.
It is a known fact we get numbers from 5 reliable sources. NPD from Canada, the US and UK, then you have the same thing in Austraila and Japan. Every single one of these countries have monthly numbers, except for Japan, which has weekly numbers. VGchartz from what I understand makes up every one of these countries weekly numbers, except for Japan's and then corrects them once they get the real numbers. Problem is we are still missing Asia and Europe numbers, which again VGchartz makes up every week. We only get those numbers once a year at best and they normally are an estimate/combined countries for those regions since there are so many.
Also when it comes to myself, I go by shipped to retail numbers, which again is only done by 2 of the 3 major consoles makers. Nintendo and MS. Sony's numbers = manufactured, not shipped to retail. When it comes to 100% accurate numbers those are the only ones you can trust. Every thing else, including NPD, has a percentage of the market, but not the entire market. You can't lie on your quarter and yearly reports so obviously shipped or manufactured numbers = most accurate.
I don't go around listening to what everyone says, obviously.
Just because Neogaf is upset because they didn't get a response from VGChartz, doesn't mean you have to continue whining about it.
And, having taken several courses involving probability and statistics, I know people bashing VGchartz are just doing it as an outlet for damage control, in some, if not many cases.
:/ You have your opinion, I have mine.
