Well actually I think it had to do more with that 90% of the people who were buying the PS3 when they had a $500 sku were buying the $600 sku. Also that coupled along with the fact that Sony lost more money on the $500 sku vs. the $600 sku was the reason they stopped selling them.

Why do you think one of the biggest corporations in the world would let their competition get even close to them in price. NOT!

Expect a price cut as soon as sony announces theirs and once again the 360 will be cheaper across all skus over the ps3. But hey, we as gamers all win because more people will go out and get a 360 and a ps3 with the reduced price points.

I'm really curious whether this is real or not, i've seen the ad, and the dates make me think its more of a promotion than an actual price drop aswell.

If anyone has more solid proof that there'll be a price drop could you post it, because i was planning on getting a PS3 on the 10th of July, but if this is true i'd be better off waiting.

People look at games. People don't buy DVD players because "WOW THAT THING HAS A PLAY BUTTON, AND A STOP BUTTON". They buy DVD players for the DVDs.

Best buy a few weeks ago had a better offer. Buy a sony 40 inch lcd and get a free ps3. That wasn't how it was placed in the add, the tv was 2100 and the sale price of the offer was $2199. So you got the ps3 and some movies for free.

I think it will be just a sale at this time at c.c., but it could turn real in the fall across the board.

I bought my PS3 on eBay for $485 (60GB), so I don't really care either way.

If not, you need to understand people buy consoles for its games not to boast and brag about the console itself...Hardware issues are always a headache, but overall it was the draw of the software available that made the sale.
