PS3 price cut = 360 Elites death

No, the elite was created to appeal to a diffrent type of xbox user. this wa the fan that liked the xbxo but wanted more out of it.

The ps3(not confrimed adds can be made in photoshop) price drop kills no one, All it does is make the ps3 more affordarble to a wider audence.

both consoles are still vairly expensive and won't climb past 20 million until we prices in the 300-200 dollar range.

Sony has made the war intresting agian though. With its nice lineup the 360 should have a nice fight on its hand.

Now maybe sony can do the only thing posoble this gen and tie with xbox 360.

Next gen is where we will see the true victories

Why would they scream of the mountaintops when E3 is about a weekaway. They haven't reached the mountain top yet....it's still a week away. I'm sure they didn't mean for this to be leaked somehow. And all these big retail chains have their ads printed out and ready to go severeal weeks in advance. Sony would've had to tell these stores a couple weeks ago that they were planning on dropping their prices so that they could get it in their ad for the week after E3.

It isn't confirmed by Sony, but that article provides some pretty reliable sounding evidence that it is the case.Surely Sony might make the decision to wait until a major event like E3 (i.e. the mountaintop) to start screaming their news, as you said.

Do you understand what compelling software is? Do you? Compelling software is something that makes me say "Wow". Not rehashed concepts and graphically enhanced ports.

I am not a fanboy. I plan on buying a PS3 in late 2008.

MS will get a word of this and the elite will go down to 350... and the core discontinued....

But seriously, you really think MS isn't going to reduce the price of their console now? $499 is still way too high a price for casuals and that is where the money is. X360 has a $300 pricepoint, the $500 pricepoint fails in that reguard. Only hardcore fans are going to care about what they can get over the elite. I'll bet over half the PS3 users won't even use things like Blu-Ray or Wi-fi.

Sony is loosing money. They thought consumers would buy their product for its 'cutting edge' tech and specs. THE POINT OF GETTING A VIDEO GAME CONSOLE IS TO PLAY VIDEO GAMES. the rest is just a side dish and sony put too much cherry on their cake.

People look at games. People don't buy DVD players because "WOW THAT THING HAS A PLAY BUTTON, AND A STOP BUTTON". They buy DVD players for the DVDs.

Honestly if the PS3 costs so much more than the 360 how come the sales figurs are almost the same.

the reason that sony can hit a price drop is because they have discovered a way to make the optical drive cheaper mabey if microsoft does this they will hit a price drop. The corperations are not stupid they are not going to lose lots of money to make something cheaper for the consumer, or to say look I'm selling more because then they are also losing more .
