yes it will definitely make a difference, will shift more PS3's but most likely 360 will still outsell it due to its low price, you fail to understand the mindset of a consumer they dont see AAAE like us they see fun looking game against fun looking game, hence LBP didnt sell as well as it should have. a small price cut will see 360 outsell PS3 a big one then it could be interesting.[QUOTE="yoyo462001"][QUOTE="tek91"]
no ever since the $199 price cut the 360 has outsold the PS3
and it most likely looks like PS3 will have another price cut the reason they don't talk about it is because if they start saying "yes we will have a price cut" people will wait for the price cut and not buy the system now.
and when the price cut happens you don't think God of War 3, twisted Metal, Gran Turismo 5, Killzone 2, Uncharted 2 will make a difference ?
tek91
woah why did the screen in GS suddenly turn gray and white....
how can you be so sure 360 will still outsell the PS3 I bet you believed that also last year before the PS3 went down to $400
you don't think Killzone 2, God of War 3, Gran Turismo 5, Uncharted 2, Twisted Metal, are fun looking games ?
Little Big Planet didn't sell well because it was not a big recognised name like Gears of War, halo and God of Warand platformers usually don't sell well unless it has the name mario on it, just look at Banjo but trust me Twisted Metal, God of War 3 and Gran Turismo are well recognised and will sell really good Killzone 2 also will sell good just on the graphics and the fact that it's a good FPS it already has 1.1 million pre orders just in EURO alone and that was before the demo came out.
truthfully speaking LBP did really good in salez I mean around 1.5 Million now could be more for a new ip which is a platformer is impressive it beat out alot of 360 exclusives like Banjo and Dead Rising in sales.
My GS was normal...im not totally sure it will sell but its likely too, i know everyone says it buts its the economy, im currently studying economics which allows me to see and study the behavior of consumers especially in times such as this, and an intelligent guess would suggest the 360 will do better. liek i said before its really just a guess, it would be weird if i was totally wrong but then again you cant be totally sure of anything these days..well im off its 12 and i still need to get some Left 4 Dead play before i go to bed :).As much as I want a PS3, I refuse to buy one that doesn't have backwards compatibility because there are too many good PS2 and PS1 games out there. snakes3425

Price cut in April!
Why April?... so, they can get people too impatient to use their tax return for a PS3... then they'll drop the price.
So, be patient, save your money and wait or you'll be sorry!

Yeah, I think I'll pass and stick with my original plan of a new gaming rig PC.

Which means you'll end up spending way more than a PS3 costs, and your PC will be obsolete by the time you leave the store or the parts ship to your house if you're building your own.

Uh, buy a PS2 or if you want to save go online and get a used one. I've seen many backwards compatible PS3s for sale on Craigslist-- just dont have it shiped-- many for a steal; plus, when you buy used you can get a bunch of extras.
If you don't want to wait, buy a used PS3! At least you can get a bunch of extras!
The proof needed was a 1 billion dollar reported loss for the first time in 10 years, over 8000 lay offs. They need to move that monster yesterday.cainetao11
It sounds like there is one person out there that has some sanity.
Are there any people out there that just can't wait for that April price cut???:|
Actually it is April because Sony's fiscal year ends in March. Sony is holding off a price cut until the end of the 08 Fiscal Year which is the end of March. Why April?... so, they can get people too impatient to use their tax return for a PS3... then they'll drop the price.

Which, you know, has nothing to do with the global economic crisis or the fact that global demand for Sony's export goods (televisions, stereos, and other electronics) is down, right?

That's cold, are you suggesting the price drop will be Sony's April fools joke? As though all those that buy a PS3 before April will be "April fools" for spenbding more on a PS3?

I think that quite a few consumers would be angry about buying a PS3 for $100 more in March and seeing a $100 price drop in April.
Wouldn't that make you angry, buying a PS3 in March for $400 and seeing a $100 PS3 price drop in April-- think about all the games you could get for that!

PC gamers on the other hand have to conform to whatever game makers give them.

I would love people to buy a PS3, but I would hate anyone to go out and buy a PS3 in March when there is a $100 price drop in April. That's a copy of Little Big Planet and a extra controller OR a $100 towards rent!

Lol? You can build a PC more powerful then a PS3 for less then the cost of a new PS3. Hell, he already has a computer, all he needs to do is buy a few parts. $300max[QUOTE="Fab92"][QUOTE="di_sgt_barber"] look at the wii. di_sgt_barberWhat d'you mean? cheapest console. sold best. ps3 most expensive. sold worst. ps2 cheapest. sold best. same in 5th gen. psone sold worse than n64. ps2 won 6th gen. typically the case. common consumer looking for lowest price tag. ps3 would compete better with lower cost. maybe taking out ethernet and reducing size of harddrive would help compete with xbox arcade version @ $199 USD. may be too late for average consumer to realize lower cost of ps3 with "that thing is too expensive" branded on his brain while browsing at best buy.
Sounds like a big april fools joke...Cybiotik
A big April's fool joke would be buying a $400 PS3 in March and not affording some extras (not evening thinking about the tax here)-- then have APRIL COME AROUND AND SEEING A $100 PRICECUT!!!!
Don't be an April Fool!
(maybe some of these guys have some Sony stock and want you to spend more!)
The point is, the PS3 has lost momentum... and so has the economy...
TIME FOR A PRICE CUT!!!!!!!
How mad will you be if you could have saved a $100 on a PS3? Just, for waiting a few more days?
There not going to be handing out credits like the iPhone!

If consumers can't be bothered with doing a little bit of research when purchasing appliances then tough luck for them.
Please don't put proof in the title when you're just speculating. BTW Prachter is an is wrong alot more often than right, there are people on this board I'd trust to give me a better prediction than him.blue_hazy_basic
When you solve a logic problem in geometry... you use proofs to come to a conclusion. In legal trial or in debate you supply evidence, data and proof to come to a conclusion-- generally one that substantiates your the premise of your argument.
So, tell me, do you think that Sony is going to come out and tell people not to buy a PS3 for a month (March)so they can save $100 in April?
Did you buy an iPhone too early and lose those $100 in savings that happened a month later and now you're taking out your frustrations on consumers here?

I didn't even take an iphone when it was offered to me for free! In geometry you are dealing with set amounts. In a trial you are debating what HAS happened not what WILL happen. You are speculating, and using other people's speculations doesn't = proof.Nasdaq stock charts of Sony values going south+ year to date sales going down+PS3 manufacturing costs going down again= hard QUANTATATIVE FACTS!

I certainly hope that you're right. if the PS3 doesn't get a price cut before all there good games hit they may just die. However, I firmly believe that if the PS3 gets a price cut it'll make up more than enough money when all the good games hit.
Half the reason games don't do as well as they should is because the PS3 is'nt out there yet.

didn't you post that already? and its not "proof" (you might not understand what proof means, as you keep misusing to in fact mean the exact opposite of the word?), as quoted from your own source: "Could the Best Buy and GameStop deals be predictors for an upcoming $100 price drop?" See that "could" and the "?" at the end? Thats a pretty decent indicator in most cases that a question is being asked (speculation), not providing definitive evidence of something. Not sure if you're just trying to get attention by being deliberately obtuse *looks @ sig* but I'm done with the thread. Please Log In to post.
