The Xbox 360 costs either 300, 400, or 480 dollars.
The PS3 costs 600 dollars.
That's all there is to it. You don't need a Wifi adaptor, online play, or an HD DVD drive. Those things are luxuries, not necessities. PS3 is more expensive. Get over it.

Took the words almost verbatum from my thoughts. Way to set it straight on the 1st reply.
if you fully utilize the ps3 its worth it if you just want a bare bones gaming console the 360's got the core system, but yes if you're going to go all out with a 360 you could potentionally save money with a PS3 especially since blu ray is owning HDDVDMorisUkunRasik
And DVD is so far outselling Blu-Ray and HD-DVD combined that it is almost sad. There was no need for a new format at this stage.

Like the X Box 360 Premium, huh? Having a hardrive is also a luxury in that case.

Better in what way? It has some good games, but so do the Wii and 360. It has done some good things this gen, but so have the others. It would be near impossible to say any of the three were "better" at this stage.

The HDD is not neccessary for most things. I myself wouldn't buy the Core, but its possible to buy one and enjoy games on the 360 without an HDD.

Judging by hardware specs alone, PS3 is the better system. You get more bang for your buck as well, and less chance of it breaking down.

The system specs are much closer than most fanboys for either system would be willing to admit. And while one or the other might eak out a bit more horsepower in the future, as of now, no system can claim superiority where it matters, in actual, real games.

I am sick of people making these threads.
They are not the same as most people who own a 360 DO NOT want and HD DVD player. (FACT as on 155,000 stand alones have been sold).
So please STOP with this comparison as the FACT is people want to enjoy gaming, NOT HD movies!

The "better" specs of the PS3 have yet to prove themselves. The Xbox flexed its muscle on Day 1 with Halo. The PS3 has yet to show any game that isn't possible on the x360.

if you want a 360 that is comparable to the ps3 you will end up spending more than a ps3 costs but people forget you do not have to do that, it comes with an ethernet chord you dont have to go online you don thave to buy the hddvd addon you dont need the elites hdmi out but if you are interested in those things the ps3 is truly worth its price tagMorisUkunRasik

I wasn't just talking about the graphical capablities of the PS3. I was also refering to the built in WiFi, bigger hardrive, and Blu Ray that I have to go and buy similiar stuff to add on to the Premium.. Wait, I'm sorry, I shouldn't compare the PS3 to the Premium because the Premium is considered a luxury item now since it has a built in hard drive when you can buy the Core instead which also doesn't allow the limited backward compatability the Premium has either, right? Ya, the PS3 is very expensive compared to the X Box 360 Core.

MorisUkunRasik
No one could argue that the Xbox had the most poweful system last generation. However, so far, it has not been shown that the 360 nor the PS3 have a game out that cannot be done on the other system. The only differences have been small issues that could easily be atributed to development issues and not the system's powers.

its not a lack of public interest its a lack of money in the publics bank account or the unwillingness to drop 600 dollars on it. If it were cheaper sales would most definetly pick up.

the xbox was most certainly the most powerful last gen and so far is not the end of the story we have quite a while before MS and sony end production on their current gen consoles.

nah....Halo was the superior-looking game and it had much more going on at the same time. Just read any of the reviews. Excellent AI and lighting (at the time). MGS2 did look good though.

surely if anything was cheaper more people would who were interested but its holds more water when attributed to something that costs as much as a PS3 especially when its competitors have much lower price tags.

The Xbox showed that from the get go, and on nearly every multiplat released. You don't see that between the PS3/360. You could easily see the difference with the Wii though.

lol, I'm not backing down from any argument. I always thought specs meant what is required to manufacture hardware or what's included in the hardware. But, according to you specs only mean graphical capabilities...I think. Guess I should've chose better wording. Well, anyways I was referring to those 3 things for the most part.

Wrong. The Gamecube sold most of its units after dropping to $99, showing that as price drops, demand increases. Might not have been a huge hit like the PS2, but it sold alot at $99.

Yeah, if you really want those items, then the PS3 is obviously for you.
The free market is showing that gamers, in general, do not care for those things nor do they view the PS3 as a better value than the x360.

Don't forget.
A ps3's build quality is better so the chance of it breaking is less. So a 3 yr warranty should be good enough.
While a 360's build quality is the worst of the 3. So it is best tokeptbuying the extendedwarranty for each year that you own it.
Well if you just take the system and add some **** it becomes more expensive then the other system. HUR HUR!
Wow, thats amazing, would have never thought of it really. The fact that the 360 doesn't ADD USELESS CRAP because some people like myself don't need it, well... i would think that would be seen as a plus.
Well I Ebayed my 360 and kept my PS3. I think you know which one I call the Great Black Beauty Reliable Graphics King. casey7672

Its the same thing you seem to be saying will happen with the PS3. What makes you sure that the PS3 would "take off" if it had a price drop? What stops it from going the same route that the GC did?

If you are in to HD movies, yes, the PS3 is a great value. I however (and I know that the majority of people are with me based on sales numbers) don't care yet about HD movies, and feel DVDs are still a way away from peaking.
