The wand is going directly against the Wii whereas Natal is something quite different. For that reason Natal. I also dont think that the wand wont be as successful for that reason.-Pred-Alien-
Funny, I think its the exact opposite. Natal is aiming for casuals just liek the Wii. Its MS' attempt at grabbing the casual audience that Nintendo has been successful at over the past couple years with Wii. The "wand" on the other hand has great potential to be used in all kinds of games, not just wii-sports-like casual crap.

I don't think these two products are really in the same league. You'd do better to compare the wand with the WiiMote+.

Natal is a different animal.

i'll wait to see which has the better support and games.

i'm not even sure how close sony are to getting the wands released or how they will release them. they was still prototypes at e3 and they showed a couple of tech demos (microsoft is in a slightly better position with the burnout demo). will they try to bundle them with a tech demo and make it eyetoy plus, or will they release them with some popular/core games like motion plus is currently doing with sports games, the upcoming red steel 2 and rumoured to be in zelda?

as for natal i'd like to see how they will implement it with games, i hope it will compliment the controller, rather than replace it like the sony wands will have to do.

either way i'm not that excited for either as i think neither will implement well into both consoles current strategies.

What I saw at E3 was pretty clear.

Natal was horrible and incredibly innacurate, the Sony Wand was pretty accurate.

However, the tech demo for the Sony Wand was pretty bleh (it did show it's accuracy, but it wasn't very interesting) while Natal's make belive commercial did grab a lot of attention.

I'm not interested in either, but I think Natal will be much more of a commercial success because of the marketing.

When I read this post it sounded Hypocritical because your saying the Wand can be used in all games "not just Wii Sports like casual crap" But the Wand is exactly like the Wii Remote + Motion Plus I do agree I can only see Natal working mainly in Casual games but it wouldn't be stuff like Wii Sports.

Also the Wand can work in every genre that the Wii Motion Plus can work in.

This is an excellent example of a blind fanboy Anyway back on topic the Wand I will expect it will have the same sort of the Wii-mote/M+.. In other words some games use it very very well and it other the cheap "waggle"... Natal impressed me greatly, but I can't help but feel it wasn't as good as shown...

Are you calling me a Blind Fanboy?

I only said my opinion and from the demo of Natal I couldn't see it working in most genres. But I need to wait and see since that is a mystery I would have to see how developers use it to fully judge. But with the Wand I already know how it will work because it has the same result as the Wii Remote + Wii Motion Plus they just do it differently because the Eyetoy Camera works like the Sensor Bar for the Wii Remote.

the only doubt's i have about the wand is how many buttons it has, with the wiimote it has the analog stick, a, z, b, c, d-pad, 1, 2 and + / -. when sony showed off the prototype it really didn't look like it had that many buttons and certainly with the shape of teh stick i doubt they would be able to fit that many buttons on without being incredibly uncomfortable. i know it was a prototype so designs can change, but right now i'm not convince it is going to have the versatility the wiimote has.

i'm not entirely convinced by either until i see some decent games for them, but right now natal is slightly ahead in terms of being ready. at least they showed it with a proper game (burnout) and had commercials for it.

I don't find either of them appealing at all.

This.

Just give me a standard controller, not any of these motion controller crap.. Motion controls can be used for some games, but in the end they are just a useless gimmick.

Youre right in the sense that really Natal is fully casual, other than a few specific games and some minor additions to existing types of games for some extra benefit. I would love to see the Wii-mote being used in HD games, and finally its going to happen. But at the same time, the casual market is huge, its only getting bigger and bigger. Nintendo has a chunk of it but its far from all of it. For that reason i think that indeed Natal will be more successful. What will turn out better, thats to be seen.

At first glance, Project Natal seems like a new technology that should change the gaming revolution next year. But after using my imagination, I'm really having a hard time imagining how microsoft is going to incorporate that technology in games such as Gears of War and Halo. I think project natal is somewhat more into wholesome games like the Nintendo Wii's sports or that sort of games, I think Project Natal will struggle with Hard Core games, which it should be concentrating in the first place, rather than waging war with Nintendo Wii's already installed market base. In my opinion, sony's magic wand should win this battle convincingly, the wand I think would perform alot better in Hard Core games than Project Natal, and Hard core gamers should really be the main target of both Sony and Microsoft. Great job Sony!!! I think that the market now is not yet ready for project natal...but who knows, I might be wrong... We'll see...

Well, I think its too early to say which one will be better, but the wand has caught my attention simply because it's super accurate and holding something in your hand while your holding something in a game is better than grabbing thin air IMO

Well I actually think that the Natal is better for games, you are free to disagree. Anyway if Milo and the 3 shovelware games come with it its not too bad of a deal. Fable 3 is going to incoprate theController and the camera... And I have an Idea of how they can make a halo game or gears game work well with it. The trick would be yo hold only one half of the controller (the right half wit the face buttons) and hold your left hand as if you were holding a rifle. You move the character using the right stick and aim with the invisible gun you ar holding. You fire using RT and reload with a reload motion. The face butons would then be free for just about anything scince X is no longer needed for Reload, Y is no longer the action button, and B isnt melee RB would be free as well because you could throw a gernade using the motion. A would be to jump/ roll / take cover and Y would be the standard switch weapons. Iron sight would be activated when you hold the "gun close to you. Turning would be done by moving the gun or 90 degree quick turns with X and B, andRB would be to sprint. That way you won't look like a moron running in place and rolling into your coffee talbe. Its just a thought...

Given microsofts reputation with voice recognition (Vista's speech recognition anyone?) and how crap it is, and ofc the fact that i currently only own a ps3 i'm going with sony's ball-on-a-stick thing.

Here's a link to Vistas speech recognition:

I know that the vid was back in 2006 but it's still as crappy today.

You need a car to drive, you need a skateboard to skate, you need chair in order to sit. I can go on. What Im saying is that in gaming you need a controller in order to game otherwise it's just gonna be a dumbed down or broken version of gaming, granted I don't care for the Wiimote or Wand but I prefer them over Natal since you have to hold a controller in order to play motion gaming. It's also far easier to understand how the Sony wand will be implemented in current games (thanks to the wiimote) compared to Natal. I mean how the heck are they going to make it work in traditional games without making it feel tacked on?

To my opinion, Sony and Microsoft's Wand and Natal should be included in their next generation consoles, ps4 and xbox720, not next year as an add on to the ps3 and xbox 360. That is too risky a move for both, too much investment, especially when rumors are already arising for the impending launch Nintendo's 8th generation console, probably to named Nintendo Wii HD.. and who knows, it might be a combination of both features of the wand and the Natal, hehehe, Nintendo might have the last laugh...

PS Wand: if it has an analog stick then it will definitely be better. It could potentially be like the Wii with amazing graphics.

Natal: very impressive and I think families will amazed with no controller. I'm looking forward to it being implemented into controller based games like Mass Effect 3, Halo Reach, and Fable 3. More so than games built from the ground up only using Natal.

Natal is idiotic. Its going to be a chaotic mess. Think of all the things that could go wrong. Itchy arm? Dont scratch it or you may inadvertently flick off someone in game! Controller-less user interfaces only work well in the movies. I mean even voice recognition has some staggering problems, how much worse do you think motion detection is going to be?

i dont think either can stand up to the wii. for a good example of how motion controls and buttons work well together while remaining intuitive, look at dbz budiki 2 for wii. you press certain buttons then shake the nunchuck or move the wiimote in certain patterns to do attacks but you still have the joystick to move your charactor so you can do more at once than any other controler out there, the problem with those two is they arnt integrated into every game, the games arnt developed around them so they will go the way of the light gun...

okay i watched a video about milo, while i think that is scripted bs, i think facial and voice recongniton would be awsome in games, who cares about motion controls and scaning crap, thats for casual gamers, what about playing the next huge rpg and when you go up to the npc you talk to it, tell it what you want and it responds, including negetive responses for things it doesnt like, ie sexual inuendos and vulgar language, i mean come one, what if your party could see the fear in your face and became scared as well, think about horror games that could feed on your jumping from something scaring you and continue to scare you till you gota change your depends. there is lots that those two techs could do for hard core gaming, but the motion controls i dont like so much, i dont want to have to worry if it will detect me swinging my long and shiny blade at the dragons cockles...

Natal. I mean, I have a wand but I don't see people getting all excited about that.
