PS3 reaches 5 million in Europe.

This week saw the ps3 reach 5 million(-ish give or take a few thousand) units in Europe acording to Vgchartz (not the best source).

Athlough it seems feasable considering last months issue of "The Official Playstation magazine" reported that the console had as of last month sold 4,870,000 Consoles in Europe.

No Europe trashes It in sales of ps2 and the origonal playstation.

It also trashes the US in terms of ps3's (not by much) , playstations and ds's.

Actually the ps3 only came out in march of last year in PAL regions so its only been out a year and 16 days in Europe wheras the x-box has been out 2 years 5 months and a few days.

well I was aware the uk was Sonyland the previous two generations, but changed to Nintendoville this generation, but I wasn't sure about the rest of Europe.

I'm not hyped for haze its not mine (Or alot of European gamers style)...Thats why im more intrested in this , because with more European ps3 games they make European orientated genred games.

Goes to show how RIGHT the Sony fans were about Europe and how WRONG the M$ fans were about it.

The difference is a lot more European markets are americanised. Where as Japan and America are easy to pidgeon hole, Europe is a mixture of both with each country differing wildly. As an example the Wii is huge in the uk, but it's sales are pitiful in areas like Spain, where Ps3 numbers are huge.

I'd say most western European countries are americanised, especially when i went drving from Wales through France, Germany, Belguim, Holland and then Germany and nearly everyone spoke English.

when you think that the DS, PSP, 360 and then the Wii broke launch day records, and the ps3 didnt have the best of launches its pretty impressive, especially with the costs still being high, it'll make that million up this year with its softwarw line up

and as for europe outselling japan, i dont see why its that surprising, europe is pretty big you know

Yeah that's true and UK differs itself from Europe overall. UK couldn't be a worse country to solely judge Europe on. Germany would be a much better choise...

Uhmm....they officially announced 17 million at the end of 2007. So, assuming that 18.07 M is the end of march, that means they only sold 1 million units world wide over 3 months?
