PS3 Riding on Past Success

PS3 has only a 256 mb video card which means the best looking games will be on 360 this generation because it can go over 400 mb with its unfied 512.

Blu Ray does not improve the graphics. It simply insures that you won't have multi-disc games which is really no big deal because only about 1 in 100 games needs a multi-disc and you only generally change those once every 30 hours or so.

Blu Ray has little to do with gaming and much more to do with PS3's attempt to expand it's hold on the home theater market using it's existing brand strength.

You admit yourself that you are buying PS3 with eyes closed and no second thoughts which is typical of the people foolish enough to have bought it so far.

It has fewer games of less quality that don't look as good with a poor online service and at the end of the day it costs more. So for you to rely on the nostalgia of PS2 to make your next-gen decision instead of actually choosing which system will provide the best GAMING( not movie) experience I'd say you are the idiot.

So here are the reasons people buy PS3:

- They are in denial over how convoluted and absurd the story telling of Metal Gear is and fervently await it's continually delayed sequel. Seriously this game's graphics would have blown people away if it was actually released on time. It keeps looking more and more dated and it is a year away from being released.

- They would rather play the Ninja Gaiden enjoyed by Xbox1 users LAST gen then play the actual sequel coming ONLY to 360.

- Nobody told them that the sequal to Forza will be out by the time the next GT game is out and they forget how superior Forza 2 was.

- MOSTLY though.....they have stuborn pride born right here in system wars. You would not believe some of the wild claims the cows were making in the last three years about PS3. Some have swallowed the pride so they could have fun but others are just plain dumb and persist in their fantasies about how PS3 will dominate all.

SONY dropped from first to last for the simple reason that they became TOO COCKY. They seriously thought they were so big that they could focus less on gaming and push home theater through PS3. To every fool that is so proud over having a Blu Ray think what SONY made you miss out on. With all the time and energy diverted to puting this unneccsary expensive piece of hardware into the PS3 they lost out on maintaining relationships with third party developers and also were unable to add the proper ammount of video memmory for it to TRULY be a superior gaming system.

MS and Nintendo showed that the company that focuses on GAMING wins.

Gears looked and played better then Uncharted a year ago. On top of that it actually has multiplayer which I can't believe Naughty Dog left out.

Every comparative analysis I have seen of the multiplats favor the 360 90 percent of the time. A recent example is Assassain's Creed which runs flawlessly on 360 but has framrate and freezing issues on the PS3.

You are partially right. Mostly it comes back to my title for this thread. SONY was truly riding on past success when they were much less aggressive in making the best graphics, courting third party developers, and spent too much effort on the home theater end which DID drive up the price of the console. Another result of this was weak showings at games expos because in actuallity they had nothing great to offer and they truly beleieved people would not notice. Sadly some of you did not notice because you were so hellbent on recreating the experiences you had on PS2. Well its a NEW generation and SONY showed exactly what it DOESN'T take to win. Namely that is taking the emphasis off of the main goal: gaming.

Although your post is fanboy dribble, I would agree that the pricetag was Sony's initial crutch. Once the fanboy goggles were cracked with the announcement of the price, people (gaming community) began to realize that Sony wasnt on the ball with the R&D of the PS3. Before that, everyone in the gaming community thought the PS3 would sweep the nation by storm....Of course the rest is history regarding CGI/game hype, PR blunders etc etc...but overall it was the price that opened everyone's eyes to the Sony hustle this gen..

No don't ask a PC gamer if shared RAM stinks because they use a resource consuming thing we all call an OS( operating system). This is why unified RAM works so well on the 360.

Sony biggest mistake was designing the PS3 over Blu-Ray, they should have stayed with the industry standard, DVD-ROM.

Its not like the comptition will just roll over and die because Sony will launch its most anticipated titles. Not really. The gameplay of this series is getting old and the storytelling of Hideous Kojima is so over the top that all suspension of disbelief is impossible. Besides that game keeps getting delayed which must mean they are confident that this game could not sell the millions that it needs to on the first day in it's current shape.

Besides that I'd say all the points I made remained intact. No backfire.

I'll be honest and say that I think it looks like a good game. It is just too little too late when it comes to competing with what MS and N have done that's all. Also I gripe on it by saying that for a game that tries so hard to be Gears of War ayear later you would think that it would have multiplayer.

LOL!!!!!! if consoles had so much ram then why the hell am i not going to be able to play crysis on my 360 ever? like i know pc eats up more ram but if you have 2 gigs+ of ram it doesnt matter anymore(especally on XP which im on)so explain to me how is 256mb and 512mb of ram better then a pc with 2 gigs of ram and only 300mb or so of it is going to the os?

Why get excited about a game that keeps getting pushed back. If anything mentioning this game would frustrate PS3 owners because their best chance at a system seller is a year away( if your lucky) and will likley go multi-plat anyways. Konami was over-budget on this project BEFORE they added another year of dev time to the time-table and their are just NOT enough PS3's out there for them to make their money unless this game goes to 360.

I don't disagree except for the fact that you are COMPLETELY off-topic. This is about PS3 vs 360. PC gaming is even more dead then the PS3 so I don't bother mentioning it.

A mid-ranged machine with a Geforce 8800 GT, 2GB's of RAM and quad core processor creams the consoles. Also unlike consoles.. PC video cards, RAM and CPU's can be overclocked, sometimes even doubling the performance w/o having to get a new system. Granted you got some good cooling.

Go ahead and compare how games look on each console, but who cares about the tech specs. Only the Cell processor is still impressive, but once Intel releases their V8, which allows 8 CPU cores to work simultaneously, it won't be as impressive.

Go ahead fanboys call me a hermit, but if you look at my sig I'm a Sony fan. It doesn't stop the fact that PC's are far ahead of consoles and that console graphics aren't worth arguing over, it's silly.

- They are in denial over how convoluted and absurd the story telling of Metal Gear is and fervently await it's continually delayed sequel. Seriously this game's graphics would have blown people away if it was actually released on time. It keeps looking more and more dated and it is a year away from being released.

- They would rather play the Ninja Gaiden enjoyed by Xbox1 users LAST gen then play the actual sequel coming ONLY to 360.

- Nobody told them that the sequal to Forza will be out by the time the next GT game is out and they forget how superior Forza 2 was.

- MOSTLY though.....they have stuborn pride born right here in system wars. You would not believe some of the wild claims the cows were making in the last three years about PS3. Some have swallowed the pride so they could have fun but others are just plain dumb and persist in their fantasies about how PS3 will dominate all.

SONY dropped from first to last for the simple reason that they became TOO COCKY. They seriously thought they were so big that they could focus less on gaming and push home theater through PS3. To every fool that is so proud over having a Blu Ray think what SONY made you miss out on. With all the time and energy diverted to puting this unneccsary expensive piece of hardware into the PS3 they lost out on maintaining relationships with third party developers and also were unable to add the proper ammount of video memmory for it to TRULY be a superior gaming system.

MS and Nintendo showed that the company that focuses on GAMING wins.

Don't compare consoles to pc's when it comes to that. Consoles do not need the RAM that PC's use because they don't have Windows XP eating all the RAM up.

Well Im not here to dispute PC gaming but everyone knows that sales are down bya LOT and this trend has been going on for several years.

A mid-ranged machine with a Geforce 8800 GT, 2GB's of RAM and quad core processor creams the consoles. Also unlike consoles.. PC video cards, RAM and CPU's can be overclocked, sometimes even doubling the performance w/o having to get a new system. Granted you got some good cooling.

Go ahead and compare how games look on each console, but who cares about the tech specs. Only the Cell processor is still impressive, but once Intel releases their V8, which allows 8 CPU cores to work simultaneously, it won't be as impressive.

Go ahead fanboys call me a hermit, but if you look at my sig I'm a Sony fan. It doesn't stop the fact that PC's are far ahead of consoles and that console graphics aren't worth arguing over, it's silly.

Well Im not here to dispute PC gaming but everyone knows that sales are down bya LOT and this trend has been going on for several years.

PC game sells have always been low. But not dead.

The only thing that sells like out cakes is the Sims, World of Warcraft, Half Life Anything (not a typo), Guild Wars and a few more.

I guess you can say its dead compared to consoles, but PC gaming isn't dead in general. It still fills a niche and dominates the FPS, MMO & RTS genres.

Consoles have made a significant improvement in the FPS genre though.

You can build a PC with a 8800GT, 2 GB's of RAM and a quad core for about 800 bucks. I know it, my best bud did the same thing, it cost him $803.

Until the PCI Express slot and his LGA 775 socket for his CPU is no longer in use, he doesn't have to buy a new system. Meaning, he just has to spend 200 bucks every 3-5 years for a new graphics card.

I'm talking about a midrange system here. $2000 is dream level buddy. A dream level system won't need a single upgrade for years and years. Thats what you need if you want to run Crysis maxed along with 1080p and 60 frames a second. Crysis is a game built for the future, not for the now. 720p is just fine for a 8800 though.

I can tell you right now you have NEVER played a Final Fantasy game. I remember seeing that every game has a different story. If Cloud Strife was in EVERY FF game, I think you could call it "tired" then.

When somebody says they used "X amount of systems power", it doesn't mean game graphics can improve that much. For example, where you said Uncharted uses 1/3 of the PS3's graphics chip, it doesn't mean games will get 3x better looking in the future.
