[QUOTE="DisPimpin"]PS3 sales will pick up once the price drops. You can count on that. The 360 will end up last this generation. Sad but true.bobwill1

 And what? The 360 will stay $400 forever? :|

No, a price drop didn't do much for the first XBOX, and that sold faster than the 360. If you think that when all is said and done the 360 will finish any higher than 3rd in worldwide sales you are not being honest with yourself. The numbers don't lie.

You realize that according the NPD numbers the PS3 and 360 were within 40,000 units sold of each other for the first 4 months on the market, and the PS3 was not supply limited like the 360.

That's what they keep forgetting. There were no XBox 360's on retail shelves to sell, that's why the sales were low. The PS3 didn't have these shortages yet they only sold 40,000 more units? That's not impressive at all.

No other games??? What about White Knight Story, New Team Ico game, Uncharted Drakes Fortune, Ratchet and Clank Tool of Destruction, LittleBigPlanet, Heavenly Sword, Lair, Warhawk, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, War Devil, Tekken 6, Gran Turismo and etc, and right now Final Fantasy 13 and Versus is still exclusive to only PS3 until Sqaure say otherewise..I know porting games to the 360 just lead to massive downgrade of the games so why you want to play somethin that isnt goin to be great..i bet you in E3 this year sony will announce more games for the PS3.

GhettoTaxii

With the exception of the bolded titles I highly doubt any of those titles will sell systems. (unless of course they receive more than phenomenal reviews, much like Gears) Honestly the PS3 is lacking "killer-apps", we already know Microsoft and Nintendo have theirs, and honestly now that Sony seems to be losing their Squenix support, and with even a slim possibility of MGS4 going multiplatform, its looking bleak for the PS3.

Also, I am not saying that those games aren't going to be amazing, personally I am psyched for most of the titles you have listed.

I can't belive the PS3 will win especially after sales tank in Europe after 2 weeks of being released. Also I doubt 600,000 in sales actually happened. I have read in places that are actually tallies sales that the sales in UK were about 140K so PS3 fanboys tell me where the rest of the 460K of units were sold??

[QUOTE="Tokaithegreat"]The point with the PSP is that it lacks games and so does the PS3. You can't sell game systems without games and so far this year there aren't many games that aren't multi-platform or just plain ports of games that have been out for the 360 for months on the PS3.. The 360 has 2 gauranteed system sellers this year GTA and Halo and PS3 shares their only system seller with the 360. Then you have Blue Dragon, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Forza 2, Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, too human, Lost odyssey , Alan Wake, Ace Combat ALL THIS YEAR. No waitstation here.Uptown

First off....I love how you point out the PS3's only system seller this year is being shared with the 360....then you go on to name: BioShock, Kane & Lynch, Alan Wake...all of which will be on the PC as well. On A Side note of this, Alan Wake is a 2008 title.

Secondly, What makes you think Ace Combat, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon and Too Human will even SELL well in the United States? Id say Ninja Gaiden: Sigma has a better chance of selling than those titles.

Third, GTA4 is not the only system seller this year. You seem to forget Sony fans are all about Devil May Cry. Granted its multiplatform, its still a Sony series at heart and its fanbase. I can't see this game not pushing PS3's. Another game to push PS3's which is still a 2007 title in my book until proven otherwise: Metal Gear Solid 4. Nothing needs to be said of this title. Oh and lets not forget Tekken 6.

and since you're going to list all that hoopla....then in that case: Ninja Gaiden: Sigma, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet & Clank, Devil May Cry 4, Metal Gear Solid 4, Tekken 6, Warhawk, Uncharted, Grand Theft Auto IV, WipEout PS3, Killzone 2, Lair.....ALL THIS YEAR. With big guns like Final Fantasy XIII, Gran Turismo 5, LittleBigPlanet, White Knight Story and many others soon to be announced for 2008. On top of that, Major improvements to the PlayStation Network such as PlayStation Home. The Sony PlayStation 3 is only just beginning to pick up steam. People seem to be forgetting other Sony Exclusive Games that havnt even been announced yet: SOCOM, Twisted Metal, God of War, Jak & Daxter among many others. Way to jump the gun.

What are you trying to get at by posting titles that won't be out this year and uncomfirmed titles that don't even have release dates. The fact that you can't post any game exclusives that are coming out THIS YEAR just proves my point. The waitstation 3 library is very very dry. Sony can't even get multiplatform games released at the same time as the 360.

The 360 has 2 of the all time best system sellers coming out within 2 months of each other. Sony just can't offer anything that can counter the Halo and GTA combo.

I'd also like to add that the PS3 is following a very close path with the PSP. Sony expected 3rd party developers to feed off their hand and they never came. The PS3 library sucks just as much as the PSP library and just like the PSP MGS did not save the system. With the recent price drop I was considering getting a PSP but after looking at the pathetic library there is no way I'm wasting 160 bucks. The PS3 has even less must have titles and I don't think any logical sane person will see the PS3 as a good deal. You can count the combined PSP and PS3 must haves on your hands.Tokaithegreat
You must be on crack.

It was 600,000 in sales. Some kid did some math off of nextgenwars.com and said it was 600,000 sold in 2 days. I believe they sold somewhere between 150,000 - 200,000 PS3's within the 1st week in Europe. Hopefully someone in Europe will provide us with the exact figures.

The PS3 won't get a price drop until 2008, because Sony is losing over $200 a console. Even if and when Sony does decide to lose more money by dropping the price, Microsoft who is already making $100 per console will simply drop the price of their console as well to truncate Sony's price advantage.

It's impossible to say one way or another who will come first or last this generation because that requires psychic ability for which no one has. But I will say this: Sony has entered the next gen market a year late with a very expensive piece of hardware. It is 8 million units behind in sales and offers as of yet no graphical or gameplay advantage over Microsoft's cheaper more established console.

There is no guarantee that these 2 games are good. Lair is looking like crap, Heveanly sword on the other hand probably will be good but nowhere near the system seller status of Halo 3.

Well of course.  I personally think Heavenly Sword will do good and star wars rogue squadron fanatics will buy Lair because the developers made star wars rogue squadron.  As far as Heavenly Sword selling like Halo 3....thats asking for the impossible but it will help sales.

Open your eyes, and open your mind. As much as some of you may blindly, and foolheartedly want the PS3 to fail....too bad. As it simply is not going to happen. After all, this is the PLAYSTATION we are talking about here. You might do well to remember that as well, before spouting off crystal ball, doom and gloom predictions that are so far off base, it is not even funny.

ironcreed

I remember before the PSP came out that everyone thought Nintendos handheld monopoly was over. I thought to myself, 'A portable Playstation? Thats too good to be true!.' Well, look how that turned out...

You might need to open up your eyes and mind too. The Playstation brand name is not immune to failure. Two years into the PSP lifetime and it has no chance to be #1. 6 months into the PS3 lifetime and its showing the same.

But the PSP has superior hardware, and Sony's backing it's proprietary format!  How can it fail?

And btw they^ are trying to knit-pick your counting because they can't argue with any other aspect of your argument.

Actually, no arguement needed, as the PS3 is not the PSP, therefore, trying to predict the outcome of the PS3's success based on what happened with the PSP amounts to nothing but a pessimistic outlook, and grasping at straws at best.:P

Wow, those words coming from a Sony fanboy!!! So by your logic then, it is safe to say that the 360 is not the XBOX either then. So all of your "XBOX stunk last Gen and the 360 will this Gen" BS can now go by the wayside!!!

Here is the bottom line....The PS3 has little to entice gamers to plunk down $600 for. Huge titles like Assassins Creed, UT 3, GTA IV, DMC 4 and others are multiplat now! Forza 2, Mass Effect and Halo 3 alone will ensure the 360 rules the roost through 2007 and beyond. The 360 should also see its first price drop this holiday season especially in light of the 360 Elite coming out. The Core should vanish, the Premium should drop to $349 and then you'll have the elite at $479. Things dont look so great in Sony land Imo!
