i am pretty sure the x360 will surpass the 2 million in USA but it will be less than 3.3 million WW.

wait this doesnt make sense.. Last month Sony said they sold 440,000 units in the week of black friday.. so do we subtract 440,000 from 1.7 million and you have the real numbers for December? he just said 5 weeks in december, didnt we have 5 weeks in December this year? so no it wouldnt count black friday
Highly doubt it.. the 360 had a year over year sales decline for November, the 360 sold 1.4 million units in December of 08, If anything MS had a slight decrease or sold 1.3 million units or less for Decemberi am pretty sure the x360 will surpass the 2 million in USA but it will be less than 3.3 million WW.

That cant be right, 3.8 million consoles for a whole quarter?! hell Japan sold 500,000 PS3s for december alone, 3.8 million worldwide for a whole quarter doesnt seem right at all. If you do the math they sold 320k units in Oct, 710k units in Nov, so that means they should sell around another 700k for Dec. = 1.7m units for NA[QUOTE="jakarai"]I am reading the CES press event and it's 1.7m million PS3s for the QUARTER for NORTH AMERICA. 38m registered PSN users very misleading info posted here.Kennysolidsnake

It's not right - its for the holiday season which is 5 weeks.
Im sorry but the article says for the month of December, says nothing whatsoever about a 5 week period for it including november numbers also, until you prove otherwise im going with what the article says.. they're counting from Nov 24th for the NA numbers.
PS3 didn't come close to 1.7 million. It is probably 200k-300k worse than that 1.7 million. Roughly 1.3-1.5 million. Closer to 1.5 million my bet. It includes black friday sales. Which were high for playstation 3. Xbox 360 isn't going to do much better at all. 100k more probably.i am pretty sure the x360 will surpass the 2 million in USA but it will be less than 3.3 million WW.

FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER Im looking at my calender now.. Dec 1st fell on a tuesday, if you look at a calender you will see we had exactly 5 weeks in December.. so he means 5 weeks FOLLOWING thanksgiving week in December.. in other words this is for the month of December alone! We had 5 weeks in december so this is for the whole 5 weeks of December, so hence.. 1.7 million in US for the whole 5 week month of December. So NPD will show 1.7 million for December, if not then someone is wrong and i highly doubit it would be the Sony CEO I can see what the article says but I am going by what's posted on the Live Blog. It's not right - its for the holiday season which is 5 weeks.

we don't know what microsoft sold. But it is going to be roughly 50-100k higher than playstation 3 is the most likely bet.havent we learned what happens when u get ahead of yourselves last number npd should be a lesson
u still dont know how much microsoft sold u are setting yourself up as well as other for ownage and making ps3 fans look bad

You guys site sales as if you people were economists. In all seriousness those figures don't affect the average gamer. The Wii has sold multi millions yet the as a owner of the console I am unsatisfied with the way they're "winging" profits. If anything the last place console is better because the respective company will try harder to get back profits and try to reduce loses (give us more bang for our buck). The Wii is sold at a profit point (we are paying more then what the thing is worth) and the PS3 is sold at a loss ( we are getting a lot more then what we payed for). These high sales figures don't help the consumer but the corporation. Unless you have stocks in either Sony or Nintendo the way their gaming platforms do on the market shouldn't be a big issue. Gangstah-FreshI am studying econ in college and is my hobby estimating billboard, movie, and videogames sales. Probably going to major in it and get a job in that field.

Nah it is always an upward curve in terms of sales. December tends to be about 1.75*november npd sales. http://www.ps3center.net/news/4231/playstation-sells-38-million-units-in-december/ WOW that is amazing. so we pretty much know what NPD will show.. PS3 at 1.7 million consoles for December, Wii at 3 million and 360 hast announced yet.. After hearing this im pretty optimistic the PS3 outsold the 360 for December NPD.
The reason i say this is because even though the 360 sold 810,000 for November, it was still 19,000 less than November 2008.. in December for 2008 the 360 sold 1.4 million.. if the 360 saw a similar decline in sales then the 360 most likely sold 1.3 million for December with PS3 outselling it buy 400,000! Awesome numbers for PS3!
BTW sorry i cant link, my browser is messed up.. WOW could the PS3 actually outsell the 360 in December?
Kennysolidsnake
great job sony
PS3 is definitely the wave of the future.
I ivershot a little but I was at about 1.55 million. Reduce that by 150k and that should be it about. Sneaky Sony going by black friday haha, inflate the number but don't think that the number will be just -440k. I'd cut that in half if I was to guess.
Edit: Forgot we have Canada in the, let me adjust about 12%, ehh, let me put it at 1.32 million.
Numbers in like 1-2 hours.[QUOTE="___gamemaster__"]
how much did the 360 sold in dec.? i think its close to PS3 in NA too.

well MS might surprise us again LOL :)
i think if PS3 stays neck and neck, 360 needs a real price drop to stay ahead
maybe Elite for $199.99?
Esspecially before Natal
If anything make the Arcade $129.99 and the Elite $249.99 we all know those 120GBs HDDs don't cost that much to make
or a 360 Lite made out of cheaper matierals?

Oh I know, I'm simply using the logic of: We sold a ton of hardware, give us software. The reality however is Sony has performed excellent but they are still most likely going to be third in NPD sales, like every month.
wii is for the casual market....for wii fit games and playing old people bowlingstereointegrity
And you don't think Sony wants that market?
Natal is the secret ps3 exclusive for xbox 360. Kind of sad tbh. It has this ambigious hype with no information whatsoever. I doubt it will break more than 5 million sales lifetime but will it get more people to obtain the xbox 360 than halo reach? I doubt it. I hate how sony wand, and natal are both the saviors of their respective console when halo reach and gran turismo 5 will have a larger impact on hardware sales tbh. In order for natal to be a success and sell a million consoles it needs a wii sports mega important game. Same with sony wand. Which I doubt either will support it enough in order for this to occur.i think if PS3 stays neck and neck, 360 needs a real price drop to stay ahead
