PS3 Slim - ($299 in North America, 249 pounds in the UK) Okay that's fair?

At least the PS3 is now at a price that isn't as scary, while I'm glad the PS3 has finally seen a price cut, I can't help but wonder what's the catch?

I keep seeing people complain about this but what is actually the price of the 360 in the U.K. for comparison. Just curious.

It's not THAT great of a price cut anyway, considering some places have been selling the PS3 at £280 anyway.

You can get the Killzone 2 bundle with an extra game for £299 already. That's not a price drop at all. It's just a new SKU, unless the sellers decide to lower the price accordingly.

people seem to forget that Nintendo and MS are increasing their prices here in UK. people will always complain, £250 is a fair price for PS3, do you want it to be the same price as a Wii.

Yeah but you don't realise that the purchasing power is nearly the same. minimum wage in UK is 5.75 (9.5$) and i believe the minimum wage in the US is roughly 8$. so UK average joe will have to work 43.3 hours to get one versus US average Joe having to work 37.3 hours. 6 hours difference.

It's bad that you guys always get screwed over in Europe and it's unfortunate that Sony priced the console this way. I guess, if you're really dying for a PS3, you could import one seeing as how they are region free.

£1 =/= $1 the economic situations for the US and UK are completely different, different wages for each, different standard of living all come into the price. I'd rather pay £249.99 than £425 which it cost me at launch.

The annoying thing is most places sell the ps3 for £270 and have done for a while so the drop is about £20!

I'm not familiar w/ the UK tariff/tax system, but even if tariff is low there's still several factors that contribute to a higher price. Those include distribution, legal fees, and localization. Since the UK is a relatively small market they need to charge UK customers more to cover the extra costs. Just be lucky you're not Australia which I believe is paying 2x what you are.
