[QUOTE="Jacobistheman"][QUOTE="Mario2007"]11% failure rate. delta3074yeah for pulling numbers out of our @$$,it's only 10%, GS did a news story about it ,here it is if your interested http://uk.gamespot.com/news/6215590.html thats before the slim came out, im guessing the slims have a failure rate less then half that due to their better deigned architecture.
I bought a ps3 slim in the end of october and after a month amazing gaming it stop working in last night.
The problem i'm having with it is that won't get to the xmb, when i start it up it just stays on a blank screen loading for hours.
Also it won't turn off, when i turn it off it goes to the black screen and the power light just blinks forever.
Can someone please help me.
I had a MW2 360 bundle on reserve but cancel it to buy a PS3 slim becuz i didn't want to get the PROD but look what happen.

turn of ur ps3 and disconnect it from the internet. if u have a ehternet cable just disconnet it or if u have a wireless connection the also switch of ur router so that nothing interfers with ur ps3.
also if there is a dvd in ur slim remove it. now switch the power back on the ps3 and tur it on if it still loading u have to call sony. but i think ur problem is with the internet connection something is not loadin or downloading and is causing the slim not to turn on.
I wish I could help. You should've realized, however, that the RROD is a decreasing problem for the newer models and that even if it broke, they would've fixed it for free and, on top of that, given you a card for a free month of Gold Live.AncientDozer
Sony will also fix it for free and you don't have to pay at all for playing online. Sounds even better huh?

Contradicting ourselves are we?
11% failure rate.[QUOTE="Mario2007"][QUOTE="TheArmyGuy48"] sucks for you,you just happened to be in the VERY VERY small minority.Shirokishi_
That doesnt sound VERY VERY small to me.
Industry standard for electronics(ANY electronic) is up to 15% for the first 3 years. The PS3 is well within these standards. Maybe google these kind of things before posting fanboy nonsense.[QUOTE="fuchuzz"][QUOTE="delta3074"]it's only 10%, GS did a news story about it ,here it is if your interested http://uk.gamespot.com/news/6215590.htmldelta3074thats before the slim came out, im guessing the slims have a failure rate less then half that due to their better deigned architecture.i doubt it, the failure rates going to go up in my opinion, the ps3 actually runs hotter than the 360 internally, but the old ps3 had an extremely efficient cooling system and plenty of room, the slims are not big enough for that cooling system, they are making the same mistake MS did with the 360, too much heat in too confined a space The slims have a much smaller chipset then the originals. They run a lot cooler. It should be EXPECTED that around 3-5% of all the slims released will break down within the first month. This is simply due to flaws in the manufacturing process, which means it afflicts ANY product made on machine driven assembly line. You can't catch every faulty machine that comes out and this is why we have warranties.
And the problen with the 360's design was some wind tunnel design that didn't work out. air space is fine, it just can't efficiently blow the hot air out. There's a difference.

Here is what you do.....wait until the day after Christmas.......go to the store with receipt and say you got this PS3 for Christmas and it broke. They'll exchange it.[QUOTE="TheArmyGuy48"][QUOTE="calvinx6"]sucks for you,you just happened to be in the VERY VERY small minority.11% failure rate.I bought a ps3 slim in the end of october and after a month amazing gaming it stop working in last night.

360 100% failure rate. And yes Im serious. MS themselves said that every 360 off the assembly line was faulty a long time ago. I have bought 2 360s. One at launch and one 8 months later to replace my RROD launch model. This one has now been "repaired" 4x. I have 3 friends that have been through at least 2. And many people I chat with online and conversate with at local stores have had the same problems. ALSO...MS has revised their warranty program how many times now? At least 3x that I can recall.
