PS3 to get $100 price drop at E3

Although Sony has yet to confirm a price drop officially, GameDaily BIZ has received confirmation from the retail sector that the PS3 will be dropped to $499 next week. Sony itself recently talked about "refining" the PS3 price. Now it appears to be happening.

well with new rumble controlers coming out they might be able to off set some of the lose from controls sales to ppl that already have a ps3. after all we know that accessories are hugely marked up.

ps3 will still sell low, look how many good games 360 has, but at at $400 it still isnt the top seller.

ps3 will still come in last each month in sales.

You say that however, the Elite is $478 and still not the machine that the PS3 is. $500 for a 60gb HDD, BR player, free online, WiFi, and rechargable controllers would be a great deal.

I don't know if you're too young to know this or not, but the original Xbox had a pretty significant price drop around 6 months after launch as well. These things happen.

Unfortunatly for PS3 haters, in the long run (which is what really matters) they would make alot more money becuase PS3 would sell more, garnering more support and lasting a long tiime on the market to make a healthy return on thier losses. It's the art of investment.

I think with all the hardware "failures" the 360 has that it is a monumental failure sorry to say.

No, I don't think so. I'll believe it when I hear it from Sony, and not from a Circuit City ad that says "Good for 2 weeks". It's a temporary offer from them, not an official price drop.

That's not a price drop from Sony. Thats a temporary offer through Circuit City that only good for 2 weeks. Looks like the $599 price tag is here a bit longer. I don't think there is any way there will be a price drop before the end of this year seeing as how this Holiday season is essentially their first. Fignewton50
