I'd hate to see what it does to 360's.....if they are melting down now just wait until people use it as a DVR lol.

And yes for the record I have a 360 and it's broken which I have to pay $100 to get it fixed which is the biggest con job in gaming history.......3 year warranty my a**.

The warranty only covers the red rings. Maybe it was something other than the rings and/or maybe you opened it which voids the warranty.

All propaganda.

MS specifically states that you have a new 3 year warrant ONLY FOR ONE of the many issues the hardware has. Right now the ONLY thing covered is the 3 rings of death. My X360 got 3 rings of death HOWEVER following their instructions I completely unplugged everything and what do you know....no more 3ROD. Too bad it doesn't read disks anymore.

After talking with their Customer Service they SPECIFICALLY state if they can not reproduce the 3 red rings it will cost me $100 dollars to fix. I explained it had 3 rings but now it doesn't but the machine is still broken. They said tough luck, the warranty ONLY covers 3 rings, period end of story thank you good night.

So please, stop spreading false hope. I see Lems spreading this rumor to unsuspecting gamers to convince them to buy the X360 because of the 3 year warranty. Honestly you guys need to research before you spead MS propaganda.

Fix, but not replace. So after 3 years of getting your same ol' banged up 360, expect it to die pretty fast.

To add to what I said above, the warranty will not cover......if you harddrive fails, games freezes, games get eatten, disk drive fails (that's what is wrong with mine apprantly), system shuts down every 15 mins because it overheats, ect....

None of that is covered unless you get a 3 rings of death. I've had one game eatten and a broken 360.....all customer service could do for me is take another $100 past the $400 (plus tax) I already paid.

Before you say someone is lying be sure you know what you are talking about.

TRied it, and the dam thing just shuts down in 5 mins. It won't break ENOUGH for them to fix it.

I did lie to them though, I told them "yeah it has the 3 rings of death" and he said "ok, but if we get it and can't reproduce the 3 rings of death it will cost you $100 to fix it". What else could I say but ok.

Now I await them to call me in 2 weeks when they finally look at it to tell me, sorry can't reproduce it. That's when I'll talk to their manager and haggle but they are treating this supposed warranty horribly. They make a big deal about it to make people have confindence int he machine and that's exactly the opposite of how I feel after dealing with their new and improved warranty.

here's the issue....we dont even know if they're have it ready by Q1 2008. He told Kiwi outlet The Press that the company is "hoping next year... to release a digital tuner for the PS3, turning it into a programmable TV recorder."

Hoping and actually doing are two different things. Waits for Sony entertainment America to confirm.

DVR is a device that records video in a digital format to a disk drive or other medium

IPTV covers both live TV (multicasting) as well as stored video (Video on Demand VOD).

Ur right...it's actually better.

Currently unknown.

Most likely be a add on device with some downloadable service like TV Guide. Sony use make DVR's using Tivo service but got rid of Tivo and went with TV Guide which was free. I have one ofSony's DVR with the TV Guide service and it works great. IPTV charges for their service.

Fix, but not replace. So after 3 years of getting your same ol' banged up 360, expect it to die pretty fast.

Dude , seriously get a clue.

IPTV was announced last year and its stil on track.

All Sony is doing is playing catch up like usual this generation.

Maybe you should take your own advise.

Sony announced DVR capabilities well before MS announced IPTV. http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060203-6110.html

Also you might want to look at all the features that were added to the 360 after the PS3 launched. HDMI, 1080p, larger HDD, etc. Who's playing catch up?

Oh please. Sony was throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticked.

I'm still waiting for 120 FPS and Dual 1080p games.

Xbox 360 is future proof.

You want HDMI go for it. You want wireless go for it.You want HD DVD go for it. You want a larger HDD go for it.

Its could choices my friend. Its called flexibility.

And its not called the PS3 which forces me to spend more than I have too.

Plus it is no better graphically than the 360.

360's DVR thing isn't even finalized or announced just like this PS3 article. And quite frankly, that'd alienate the Core audience.

NobuoMusicMaker

Not finalized eh?

That's Microsoft's press release about it.

It's real.

Do some research next time.

Wow, since when was IPTV = DVR?

Since it said so in the press release. You truly are more blind than I thought.

I have a PC that can do it already, plus we have a DVR in my house which we have never bothered to use for recording movies.

More useless features for a gaming console... :(foxhound_fox

This was my first thought. Sony is trying their damnest to make the PS3 a multimedia machine instead of a gaming machine. I thought Phil Harrison might've been joking back in the day, but I seriously think they want the PS3 to compete with the PC.

Hate to break it but if your concerned about 360 DVR functions alienating core owners, didn't they already do that, then, with downloadable updates, video marketplace and XBLA?

They want it to be an all-in-one set top entertainment device. Not even PC have managed to pull that off very well yet.

maybe you could actually read the press release...

"The Microsoft TV IPTV Edition software platform enables a best-in-class digital TV service that offers advanced features such as instant channel zapping, a rich and responsive user interface, video on demand with branded video-on-demand storefronts, digital video recording and high-definition television."

:lol::lol: he does this all the time, but it doesnt get old.

"PSX media center is easily confused with PSX game system." or it said something along the lines of that at the bottom.

Might want to read the link again.
