Plus, I know people don't want to hear this, but Neflix is actually better on PS3. For some reason, the 360 version is actually lacking features the PS3 version has (5.1 Surround Sound, 1080p, Subtitles, Improved UI, etc.), I have no idea why.

However, I do think that PS3 users not having to pay extra to access it is the main reason for this. :P

catfishmoon23

Not paying upfront is the reason PS3 is #1 on netflix. I have both and I really don't like the layout on the PS3. The 360 has better flow if you ask me and a better layout.

I don't really consider either app better or worse than the other when it comes to ease of use, but to each their own I suppose. If I had a faster connection though, I'd definitely pick the PS3 app just for surround sound alone.

That is one great thing about the 360 app for people with slow connections. It buffers a larger amount of the movie/tv show than the PS3 or Wii apps have in my experience.

Yes, Surround Sound is the MAJOR reason for me as well, Subtitles, 1080p HD support, is all nice and well, but Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound is where it's at (although I would love DTS and 7.1, but I can't be greedy). :P I can feel you on the Buffering, if you have slower connections. Since I don't have that concern, and I use both apps, I do like using my AVR as much as possible.

Here's a link while I'm here SW since I'm in a Netflix Thread :Netflix's Playstation 3 app goes disc-free, leapfrogs Xbox 360 with 1080p HD video, 5.1 surround sound, Improved User Interface, Subtitles, etc.

[QUOTE="DJ_Lae"]I can't believe anyone uses a console to watch Netflix. Fan noise and 200+ watts of power just to stream a movie.

Well my PC also has 2 fans and a 500+ watt power supply so i think my PS3 is saving me some money.

well since most peoples consoles are on their big screens, taking into consideration that not everyone has a wifi tv or a portable laptop with hdmi out, its a viable solution. Plus the ps3 isnt exactly loud unlike the 360. 200+ watts......meh. so instead of playing a game were watching a movie....no big deal.

that's mainly because the 360 has so many media service on Live to choose from though, isn't it lol? i mean the PS3 has Netflix and what else exactly??

the 360 has Netflix, Espn, Zune, HuluPlus....etc. i mean there's just so many options on Xbox Live. there's no need to focus just on Netflix like with the ps3...thats why its taken the lead, imo.

CajunShooter

Yea the PS3 only has Netflix

Picture Apps:

  • Photo Gallery
  • PlayMemories (3D photo view app)

  • Hulu Plus
  • Netflix

PAL Regions:

  • Vidzone

How about I tell you what you told other people in this thread. You make the list of all the 360 features. My list wasn't to show PS3 being superior to the 360 in apps, etc. It was to counter your statement that the PS3 only had Netflix and nothing else. Once again pointing out that you hate a system that you don't know anything about.

The reason why Netflix is doing better on the PS3 has nothing ti freaking do with price. IT IS BECAUSE THE 360 HAS ZUNE. ZUNE OVERHSADOWS NETFLIX, WHY USE NETFLIX AT ALL WHEN YOU CAN USE ZUNE FOR ALMOST THE EXACT SAME THING?! Oh, and ither features.

good call lol. i'd take ur route to...pretend you left the conversation since you really don't have anything to say thats worth typing. but also...he is basically right. he proved his point clearly that psn is a nice full service. i just maintain that Live has more and presents it better. anyone should be able to admit that the ps3 and PSN have been playing follow the leader when it comes to Live and the 360. most things PSN has came after the 360z example. but yea, PSN isnt completely shallow. just not as full as Live.

also its advise...not advice. advicing someone isn't really possible. at least not in grammatical terms...'advising' is the route you should have taken to.

Exactly, what about those who just want to use Netflix on their X360 but don't want the online play?

They should've bought a PS3. Or one of the thousand different Blu-ray players out there with Netflix capabilities(I have 3, aside from my PS3). Or they should hook their computer up to their TV.

not surprised, you don't need to pay 60 bucks to access the netflix feature on playstation, you just sign up for psn and throw down your 8.99 and your good to go.

You know I've been meaning to try that for the longest. Do the people you invite to a party have to have a subscription as well or can they temporarily piggy back on your subscription?

A PC would (well, not a laptop or a low voltage CPU based HTPC), but for the cost of a year of XBL you can choose from a handful of streaming TV devices that use very little power, are completely silent, and save your consoles from wear and tear.

So how is that bad.? Movies are a form of entertainment way before video games appear,it may be true what you claim but that could also show that the PS3 is consider a better over all entertainment system than the xbox 360.

[QUOTE="LucidJubilation"]

[QUOTE="slvrraven9"] first off you need to calm down. this is only a message board and theres absolutely no reason to carry on the way that you are. secondly the information was apparently important enough that you felt that you had to try and clown others for not supplying a youtube link (or any link) for yourself. its funny that you can youtube a video on one thing that you do know but something youre not sure of, youll assume information, make yourself look foolish because you were indeed spouting rubbish and then you yourself is taking it to a whole other level by getting belligerent and acting rediculous. also.....apparently this board is held in such a high regard that you would indeed take it to such a level as you did in your latest post. whether its "that" important to you or not, i dont know and i dont care but searching out information before you base a claim will indeed make you sound less foolish next time.........also its Dr Feloni, not Doctor F, if youre going to refer to me by my tag/id name. thanks...slvrraven9

here's some advice for u friend...because ur looking like a dullard right now lol. pick a point of view then stick with it...ride it out and don't try so hard...because ur posts is basically saying nothing and u pretending to be something ur not.

i'm sure you dont even know where ur post went wrong and why i'm laughing at it right now. don't get to complicated with it, ur not capable, no offense....not everyone is able to. because ur post is all over the place and ur saying i did stuff that i didnt even do...that the other guy did, or that nobody did lol. i don't mind a discussion but im not explaining to u what ur talking about and what i'm talking about to lol. there'd be no point to u then, like now. ur post makes no sense because most of it doesnt even have anything to do with me...its u just you being all wrong then looking at me proud like you just used potty. either think everything out and figure out what happened with what, then speak...or keep ur mouth shut and spectate. its that simple...but don't write me misinformed garbage like ur explaining something when u don't even have a grasp on it urself...ok? thats the epitome of foolish. do what i did, i made a statement then asked for naysayers, then took the information that they had to give because i wasnt completely accurate. you, ur talking off complete ignorance, which is weird since we're in the thread where you can get anything you need to be accurate and correct. follow my lead, that'd make a lot more sense than the nonsense u just had me read. because right now u have zero direction.

also ****. use spellcheck...i mean ur post is in shambles. how could u even pretend to explain anything to anybody when u can't spell words correctly with or without the spellcheck. heres a hint, if u feel the word is too big for you....it probably is lol. stick to what you know. what the hell is a "rediculous"

sorry i had no idea this was the grammar warz board! ill check that for u next time! bro, good job pointing out my many spelling errors. absolutely "rediculous"! sooooo weve come this far because i told you that you shouldve searched out the info that you were waiting for instead of sounding foolish by giving inaccurate information. also, youre the one cussing and fussing people out making yourself look foolish on this message board, lol a message board! or you dont think that was a little bit uncalled for!....considering who im asking im sure youll find that you are completely justified. dude youre hopeless. ive noticed that you have indeed calmed down since i pointed that out with everyone else...whatever you do or go from there is on you now. my advice for you since you apparently speak about subjects that you dont care about is to do a little research on the subject before you make assumptions. its the same thing ive been saying this whole time before you totally derailed and went into this whole gramatical tirade. if i come at you with respect the absolute least you can do is give the same in return. all of this "keep your mouth shut" im being "ignorant", "dullard" and whatnot...i dont know you from adam but i can already tell that respect and politeness is an area that you need serious help with. my advice is to stay off message boards if you cant handle sarcasm or carry on without trying to belittle someone. reply if you want with another rediculous tirade its on you and will be a complete waste of energy because its just going to go unread by me but if it helps get things off your chest then so be it i guess. happy posting....

EDIT: ok ill be around to read it! i do admitthat its amusing!

what are you talking about man...what and who has proved me wrong lol? refer back to my initial post...it still stands, completely. i just admitted that PSN isnt slim pickings, not that i was wrong. so what, i don't care enough to research every lil bit of information on a system i'm not interested in buying yet. do you usually put a deep effort into finding out more info on things you dont care about or r interested in, lol? i don't, so i asked some ps3 owners to give me the info because they're into the system. makes sense right. plus, i did not say at all that it was on par as Live, not once. my point was that netflix most likely had higher use on the ps3 because there are less features to use on it than there is on live. where was that debunked. the only thing i admitted was i didnt know the complete listings of psn features available, to which i asked for assistance. i was given the info but still maintained my point...so what are you talking about exactly lol. because i don't know where ur going or what ur basing any of this nonsense off of.

to add on to it, this all began with me misreading ur first post, the post you were agreeing with me on. then me apologizing and deleting my post, to which you proceeded to talk down to me like i'm some idiot. thats wen i took an offense that led us to this BS battle of wits. instead of you taking my apology and being humble you decided to throw sarcastic salt on the wound. so how about you take ur own advice instead of dishing it out then i'll work on getting some hope for myself.

on topic though...i agree with the other poster. maybe the spike in netflix was due to psn being down. i had a few people say to me that they didnt care about the outage since netflix is still working. so maybe that does explains it to.

What are you talking about? A lot of those things on the list are free if you already have a subscription to those services. The only one that I can think of that you have to pay for the app is NHL Gamecenter, but that is only if you don't have PS+. I already have subscriptions to Netflix and MLB TV and these apps on the PS3 allow me to stream it on my big screen TV with surround sound rather than my Desktop or laptop that has crappy speakers.

Not too surprised, only gold subscribers can access it on Xbox, in addition many people use the PS3 as a media only device for BR and Netflix.

Honestly I rarely use my PS3 for Netflix because I like the Xbox interface better and I'm almost always doing party chat or party watch while using it.

not surprised, you don't need to pay 60 bucks to access the netflix feature on playstation, you just sign up for psn and throw down your 8.99 and your good to go.

Lionheart08

Plus, I know people don't want to hear this, but Neflix is actually better on PS3. For some reason, the 360 version is actually lacking features the PS3 version has (5.1 Dolby Surround Sound, 1080p, Subtitles, etc.), I have no idea why.

However, I do think that PS3 users not having to pay extra to access it is the main reason for this. :P

True, but the PS3 Netflix is missing the one feature I really love about the 360 version, parties. :P

I wish that feature would be added to the PS3.

I know all about that as a Netflix user on 360.:P In fact, it usually almost always comes up in these threads, and was mentioned a few times earlier in this thread. What wasn't mentioned was the PS3 had some benefits and I wanted to make sure people knew both sides. It's a circle, because now here we are again.:) As far as using the party chat in conjunction with Netflix, I feel ya man, I've done that a few times...but I'm not a fan of it because people are talking and I'm trying to watch the movie! :P For my commentary fix, I usually watch MST3K, RiffTrax, and Cinematic Titanic for world cIass commentary. It wouldn't be so bad if I saw the movie before, but Since I don't like to watch movies I've already seen, it's a conundrum. In fact, I don't even like having a headset on when watching a movie (Headsets on from my Cell, PS3, or 360), for surround sound purposes. Then again, different strokes and all that...my brother for instance likes to pull me on to do movie chats sometimes with him and our cousins other brothers sometimes...:P

You know I've been meaning to try that for the longest. Do the people you invite to a party have to have a subscription as well or can they temporarily piggy back on your subscription?Rockman999

No, you can't temporarily piggy back from one subscriber. I know all about it.

Everyone needs to have access to the Netflix App, which means they have to have a subscription or access to a subscription to access the Netflix. Then, they need to also have a subscription to Xbox Live Gold. Also, some movies don't work with the party chat. I've done it quite a few times, but it's not my cup of tea. :P

CajunShooter

Key words ;If you already have them; to get the same similer features you would have to pay extra and those extra subscription fees added up are higher then yearly XBL subscription fees.

Why wouldn't they be higher? You actually get access to content with subscription services like netflix, qriocity, zune pass, hulu plus, MLB TV, NHL Gamecenter, etc....
