PS3 Version of Far Cry > 360 Version?

I'm not CLAIMING it is, but I am asking this question:

Why is that when I got to the Far Cry page here on Gamespot (The Ps3 Version) I see a Blu Ray Label running across the top? Is this because the game will be using Blu Ray functionalities? Will it take up the 50 GB's of space? I have never noticed this with any other game cover, but why does Far Cry 2 have this? Does this mean that the 360 and PS3 version will be noticeably different? I would think that since Blue Ray is superior it would prove to be the graphical powerhouse but I thought that most multiplatform games used the max space on a 360 disc and just slapped it onto the Blue Ray disc for the PS3 version.

Thoughts?

The game isn't "taking advantage of Blu-Ray" in any way...

Infact, if anything, the slower read speed would actually hold the PS3 version back because everything is being streamed from the disk.

I wouldn't be suprised if they have a mandatory install on the PS3 version of 5-6GB...

That is one of the major features of their engine... It streams EVERYTHING so as to keep the RAM use down.

although the ps3 will most likely have an install it wont take 20 minutes to install (mgs4 is 4.6GB and it takes about 10 minutes ~) besides with that install ps3 owners will have faster load times

besides blu ray is pretty much scratch proof

Act 2 - 3 mins
Act 3 - 3 mins
Act 4 - 2 mins
Act 5 - 1 min

that's about 17 mins to install.

having large install times usually negates the few second reduction in load times.

The only advantage with Blue-ray is its easier to say than Digital Versatile Disc.

You could also say that in a few limited cases, you wont have to disc swap...big deal tbh. Esp as you can install on 360 anyway.

Also, there is no reason why MGS couldnt come out on several discs, i mean there are clear "levels" so swap discs in between, simple. The 360 could run it. We all know it. (well the rational thinking among us!)

Blu-ray is a technologically superior format to DVD, it's just in the PS3s case with its 2x read speed; a situation has been created where there are pros/cons to both.

PS3 may have a higher disk capacity than 360, but 360 can read information from the disk faster.

Yay ps3 owners paid $200 more for uncompressed 7.1 audio. totally worth it. the biggest game this gen (gt4) is only 6 gb compressed and was slightly better on 360 anyway. sony didnt have games in mind when they included the blu ray player in the ps3, it was strictly for their movie and format business
