I understand that PC will always be better than PS3, but why complain about the price when a PC can cost into the thousands? the only argument ive heard is that PC's are for more than just games. but then someone will say, "well ps3 does more than just games, too." then someone responds with, "well i dont want it for anything more than games." then they will complain about how its overpriced for a gaming console. then someone will remind them that it does more than games and then.... well it just loops on in and endless circle of sony hating. even i, a loyal sony buyer, will admit its flaws, but i believe that its well worth its price if you look at it as more than a gaming console. does anyone else agree?PSBox3SixWi
Just like you can spend thousands of dollars on maxing out the potential of your PS3 with a 1080p HDTV and so forth, so can you spend thousands of dollars maxing out your PC, how hard is it for console sheep to understand this concept?
I actually built a great gaming PC for around $900Thug_Pikachui realize its easy to build a cheap yet good gaming PC. im not arguing that. i just dont think its fair to treat the PS3 as just a gaming console, or bash it for being more than a console. if sony had wanted to make a PS2-2 theywould have. but they didnt. they made a all around home entertainment product. if you want "just a gaming console" get a 360 or Wii. they are both great for "just gaming" PS3 is a gaming console with all the extras of a PC. Its just in its early stages. give it time to evolve and it will almost be equivelant to a pc.

you know i could use my $1500 PC on a 12"CRT monitor the same way as i could play my PS3 on a 12" B&W TV from 1970. were comparing the processing hardware, not the accessories(mouse, keyboard, screen, speakers, etc.) PS3 alone is cheaper than any current gen gaming equipped PC alone.[QUOTE="Thug_Pikachu"]I actually built a great gaming PC for around $900PSBox3SixWii realize its easy to build a cheap yet good gaming PC. im not arguing that. i just dont think its fair to treat the PS3 as just a gaming console, or bash it for being more than a console. if sony had wanted to make a PS2-2 theywould have. but they didnt. they made a all around home entertainment product. if you want "just a gaming console" get a 360 or Wii. they are both great for "just gaming" PS3 is a gaming console with all the extras of a PC. The PS3 is just a gaming console as much as the Xbox360 is.
Guess why it's called 360? Because its meant to be a all around home entertainment machine, much like the PS3.
For 800-900 dollars, you can probably build a gaming computer that is much better than any PS3 from scatch. (Not counting monitor)
8600 cards cost less than 150 dollars.

umm, mine does(well the equivelant) with the installation of a free copy of linux provided by sony. it also has instant messaging, keyboard and mouse support,(and 360 and wii controllers if you can find the drivers), internet browsing, and photo editing. now im not gonna give you any "owned" misspelings as are popular on this forum only cus i think you already know youve made a mistake. PSBox3SixWiHaha. Yeah because that "photo editing" is really more than photoshop. Whens the last time the PS3 could type up documents for you?

I understand perfectly:
"
TRUTH: Both the 360 and PS3’s CPUs are heavily stripped down compared to what most of us are probably using on our desktop computers to view this article. Both consoles are labeled as 3.2GHZ, but they don’t offer performance comparable to that of a typical Athlon 64 3200+ or better than even an Athlon XP 2800+ CPU. The CPUs inside the Xbox 360 and PS3 are “In-Order Execution” CPUs with narrow execution cores, whereas what we use on our computers are classified as “Out-of-Order Execution” CPUs with wider execution cores.
The reason they can sell for so cheap is because they are not as robust or complex as what we have inside our computers. The execution theme in both the 360 and PS3’s CPUs is similar to that of what you would see in the original Intel Pentium Processor. (Not referring to the Pentium 2 3 or 4, but the original) This is because they’ve stripped out hardware designed to optimize the scheduling of instructions at runtime. As a result, neither the 360 nor PS3’s CPU contain an instruction window. Instead, instructions pass through the processor in the order in which they were fetched; hence both are “In-Order Execution” CPUs.
Marketing talk from Microsoft and Sony: Thanks to these multi-core processors developers will be able to multi-thread their games and get significant performance improvements and achieve Artificial Intelligence in games that people previously thought impossible for a videogame. It’ll be as if you’re playing with another living breathing human being."

You get it now? Also with no AAA's at launch. With sales getting lower than expected. PS3 deserves all the bashing, same with the Xbox360 *low sales. But the Wii is a different story.
Also if you compare any console vs the PC, the console will usually win for the price range.
Compare the Xbox360 to the PC, then you see better results than PS3 vs PC.

You think that an HDTV is merely a 'ps3 accessory' and not a nessessary part for the thing? I personally have a PS3 you know, and I can tell you that a HDTV is as important to the PS3 as any particular PC hardware upgrade. Without it and you are probably better off with a PS2.

From a gamers point of view I don't think the PS3 is the best choice as of now, the 360 and/or the Wii seem to be the best options right now. (I'm not going to get into the whole "they're both cheaper and the Wii has innovation"debate here)
Now, as an entertainment hub, I think the PS3 is the best solution out of the three consoles. I do admit that having an all in one Blu-Ray player, game console, and basic PC kind of a setup for only $600 is a steal. I also think the PS3 is aiming at a slighty different crowd then the 360, and even more so the Wii.
I already own the 360 and the Wii, and I do plan on getting a PS3 sometime next year. Again like you, I don't understand the hate this console gets. If anything hate Sony, not the machine.

Just like you can spend thousands of dollars on maxing out the potential of your PS3 with a 1080p HDTV and so forth, so can you spend thousands of dollars maxing out your PC, how hard is it for console sheep to understand this concept?
you know i could use my $1500 PC on a 12"CRT monitor the same way as i could play my PS3 on a 12" B&W TV from 1970.Sure you can, but why would you? Spending 600 bucks on a console just to play it on a 12' B&W TV? Just doesn't sound right to me, if you don't have the equipment to use it right, you probably shouldn't buy it at all, as with the PC, the same goes with the PS3
you just had an argument with yourself. do you realize that?I'm guessing you were unable to comprehend what I said as a fine rebuttal of your dubious statement, fine, I'll simplify it for you:
How ****ing dumb do you have to be to play a 600 dollar state-of-the-art console on a black and white tv from the 70s?
ok. lets recap. you were comparing, "spend(ing) thousands of dollars on maxing out the potential of your PS3 with a 1080p HDTV", and, "spend(ing) thousands of dollars maxing out your PC" to me at least it sounds like you're comparing buying a $1000 TV for PC and Buying a $500 graphics card. i want to talk about the hardware that does all the work, not what it displays on. so there is not PC that can run NEXT GEN GAMES for the same price as a PS3. Though there is probably a PC that can run better games than a PS3 for around 800 dollars, you just have to build it yourself. Anyways, my point is not that the PC is better than the PS3. Just that the PS3 is no where near inovative. Its just the same stuff that the Xbox360 is doing. holy buttholes i realize you can bulid a cheap PC AS IVE SAID 3 TIMES ON THIS BOARD.
