Mass Effect series isn't exclusive, and Fable III will be on PC, making that series not exclusive (though Fable II will remain exclusive).

Pug-Nasty

Are you saying this guys needs to buy a $3,000 PC to supplement his PS3 purchase so that it will compete with the 360?

Wow, that's terrible advice! I think he would be much better off buying the newly released 360 slim 250 GB for a ***GRAND TOTAL OF $299***!!!!

I think he's saying that you don't need a 360 to play the best games that the 360 has, while you do need a ps3 to play the best games the ps3 has.

Additionally, I feel that the PS3s library makes the 360s look lackluster even if you don't factor out Multiplats. So, there you go.

I would like to know what percentage of console gamers actually game on a PC? I get sick of every time a 360 exclusive, console exclusive that is, gets mentioned, people jump up and shout that its on the PC also. So what? It isn't available on the PS3. Maybe his topic should have said, which to get a PS3,360, or PC? That way it wouldn't be trumped everytime we use the great 360 titles that are available on the PC as exclusives. I consider them exclusives because they are exclusive to everyones 360 that I know, because none of my friends, or friends over Xbox Live, play those games on the PC.

There is no such thing as a $500 PC that can run games well. It simply doesn't exist. If you want to argue about that then go right ahead. I've been building PCs since the mid 90s so I know quite a bit about that.

But let's say for arguments sake that you somehow can build one for $500, that still leaves you spending $800.00 to compete against the $299 360 Slim.

It makes a lot more sense for him to just spend the $299 on the 360 Slim. Everyone knows that.

lundy86_4

It's been proven a number of times on SW. If you were here and just choose to ignore it fine, if not, then that's not my problem.

We're not arguing the implications of cost here. We were arguing exclusivity, and how neither theMass Effect series, nor the Fable series are exclusives. Whether you like it or lump it, that's the way it is on System Wars.

Give me an example of PC that costs $500 part by part. I'm waiting.

Isn't it funny how you have to built gaming PCs if you're a PS3 owner just to compete with the 360? LMAO!

If we're arguing between PS3 and 360, then Mass Effect and Fable are points for the 360. The PS3 doesn't have them. Firstly, everyone knows that a top of the line gaming PC costs about $1000 US, so you could run games like Mass Effect about 5-600 dollars most likely, although I'm not a PC gamer (I will one day). I say get a PS3. 360 - Halo, Forza, Gears, Fable, Mass Effect, Allan Wake, Splinter Cell. Generally favourable multiplats and generally earlier DLC. This is somewhat changing now that the PS3 has a bigger user base however. Of these games I would only consider Mass Effect and Halo to be that big of a deal. Online is better, but $50 for cross game chat, party chat and voice messages is pretty expensive. PS3 has improving online too, and it's free. PS3 - Killzone, Resistance, Uncharted, Socom, Demons Souls, The Agent (Rockstar game), Taboo (Kojima game), Gran Tourismo 5, Motorstorm Apocalypse, The Last Guardian, Twisted Metal, Final Fantasy Versus 13, MGS4, LittleBIGPlanet (best game this gen), Valkyria Chronicles, God Of War, Heavy Rain, Ratchet and Clank, Infamous. Free Online, multiplat support is improving (Medal of Honor Beta, Assassins Creed Brotherhood Beta, Dead Space/Medal of Honor special editions). Much brighter future, the 360 only has Mass Effect, Halo, Gears, Fable and Forza as far as franchises go. Halo is almost finished (at least with Bungie), Mass Effect won't be around for many more games as an exclusive, with Bioware showing PS3 support. Gran Tourismo dominates Forza, Demons Souls vs Fable and Uncharted vs Gears are both incredibly one sided. GET A PS3 NAAOWW!!!dkjestrup

Yeah. I think it just goes by which has the better exclusives that you prefer. If you can, I would buy both, since their are too many good exclusives across both platforms. I held off buying a PS3 until MGS4 came out, and I knew I was going to have to invest in one, even though I already had a 360. Then all the good exclusives started rolling out, like GOW3, UC1, UC2, Killzone 2,and Heavy Rain. I just think it would be a shame as a gamer to miss those fantastic exclusives on both consoles.

Actually you forgot to factor in shipping. With shipping the total comes out to$592.53

That's ok, it's still within your budget. However, there are a few things I should mention.

First, a mediocre PC from 2006 is more powerful and better all around.

The case you selected is not only horrific, but also offers just one exhaust fan. Really? You really think that is adequate cooling?

Next the GPU is DX10.1, now why would you select that card when DX11 cards are already available? I understand about penny pinching but this is ridiculous. For $30 more you can have a fully featured DX11 card. You would be over budget but who cares.

Your hard drive is only 250 GB. That is small even for 2006. You should have at LEAST a 500 GB HD and that is small.

Your motherboard is utter trash. I understand you want to be cheap and I can live with your CPU choice. But the Motherboard is so awful that this really is a system that you can never really upgrade or even overclock.

I understand you put this system up here to prove a point but no one would really build that system. It doesn't make any sense. I mean to spend $600 for something like that, no way.

Obsolete parts, terrible cooling, no upgrades, no overclocking, no expansion but yes it's only $600 and will run Mass Effect 2. Sorry but no.

A 2006 PC is better thana dual-core with a 4870? I built my PC with an e8400 and a 4870 1gb and run everything at 1920x1200, including Crysis.

Case isn't the best but it's more of a placeholder than anything. It would still be fine, so long as you weren't looking at overclocking.

What's the point in buying a low-mid end DX11 card in that budget, when it would struggle with games using DX11 features? In Metro 2033 a 5770 would die trying to run Tessellation and DoF. FPS would be cut drastically low. Plus it's a low-mid end computer, what were you expecting on such a modest budget. Plus it was built in regards to running games like Mass Effect 2 and Fable 3 (latter likely not needing a high-end comp). Even the 5850 struggles with just alternating DoF and tessellation, when both are on it gets sub 20 FPS.

Metro 2033

250gb is plenty for a budget build. I struggle to go over that, even with around 10-15 games installed from Steam.

Like I said, it's a budget build, so it's gonna need a budget motherboard. The build is ASUS, which means it's gonna be good quality. I don't know what you're expecting for a budget build.

I know someone who would build that system. Someone with a budget of $600. Not everybody is gonna heavily PC game, and may want to get in for some light gaming, of which, this would be a good build for them to do so.

I proved you wrong. It's a budget build, so upgrading and obsolete parts are all a part of it. If you're building something with a budget of $1000, it's a different story (personally I budget $1500 CAD).

You're saying it's reasonable to build that cheap PC in order to play Mass Effect 2 just to justify your argument that you think the PS3 is better than the 360.

I have a better idea, buying a new 360 slim in the first place so you can run Mass Effect 2 and you save $600.

Everyone knows this by now and that is why the 360 is the #1 selling console in America and even blew away the Wii in sales.

^ Nothing blew away the Wii in sales. And @ the person who quoted me. I didn't mean more sales than the 360. I meant the PS3 has more sales than it did previously, so it's more worthwhile to port to the PS3.

This debate deviated from the original in regards to what is exclusive and what is not on System Wars. I find the PS3 and 360 fairly equal and move between them often.

Personally I would choose the 360 over such a budget PC, however people have a variety of opinions and may want features the PC offers over the 360 (lots).

Are you saying the 360 outsold the Wii in lifetime sales in the States?

I want to know what people prefer, I might get one. Title says it all.tokidokii

For me, PS3 is all about Demon soul right now, i was gaming on 360 a whole year before PS3 and get all multipltfroms on it, especially all those time exclsuive RPGs, so 90% of my gaming has been on 360

I had a few breaks to rent some PS3 games like GOW3, Uncharted 1-2 etc, play Demon Souland play Wii games like Zelda, Muramasha

But the gaming i had on Wii and PS3 is minimal comparing to 360, that for me has the most of the games like, far more deep, long and varied games than PS3 and Wii combined for me

PS3 is for Demon Soul, Last Guardian, Gimbli JRPG, FF13vs, Sorcery

Wiifor Zelda, Muramasha, Xenoblades, Last Story

Xbox 360 for Mass Effect 1, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, Fable 2, Fable 3, Banjo 3, Kameo, Pinata 2, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Tales of Vesperia, Last Remnant, Too Human, Risen, Divinity 2, Gears 1, Gears 2, Gears 3, Halo 3, Halo Reach, SEGA Kinect game, Alan Wake, Remedy new title, Couldcept Saga, Magna Carta 2, Magic The Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers, Two Worlds, Milo, Grey Matter, Naruto, Limbo,Dust, Project Kingdoms, BFME2, Braid, Kingdom Under Fire 2, Halo Warsand all time exclusives like Oblivion, Eternal Sonata, Star Ocean 4 and all multipltforms like RDR,Bayonetta, Dragon Age, Fallout 3, Bioshock 1-2, Rage, Crysis 2, Two Worlds 2, Gothic 4 etc etc and Kinect

The reason people make the argument is that if you have a reasonably powerful PC, not a gaming rig, you could still play those games. One doesn't need to have a gaming rig to have a PC capable of playing games, they just wont' look/run as good as they would if they had a gaming rig.

The simple way to put this is find your preferred use for the console. and if wish to play with your friends its obviously better to get the same as them. As for me, I prefer all FPS's on my 360 and prefer my fighting games adventure/rpg games on PS3. And im not sure why people still attack the 360 for RRoD most of the Phat PS3 users i know have suffered a YLoD. Both release consoles have had the same share of problems and both slim versions have resolved these issues so either choice will be fine.

Then why people buy so many millions of those PC/360 games on 360 ?

See, there are millions of gamers that dont prefer the PC way, so anything else is meaningless, those games still matter to 360, more than some exclsuives too

The only two reason to get an Xbox 360 is Halo and River Rush.

[QUOTE="mystic_knight"]The simple way to put this is find your preferred use for the console. and if wish to play with your friends its obviously better to get the same as them. As for me, I prefer all FPS's on my 360 and prefer my fighting games adventure/rpg games on PS3. And im not sure why people still attack the 360 for RRoD most of the Phat PS3 users i know have suffered a YLoD. Both release consoles have had the same share of problems and both slim versions have resolved these issues so either choice will be fine.a_simple_gamer

I prefer my RPGs, Adventures, stealth, strategy, shooters, open world games, most multipltforms on xbox360 and action games on PS3 (excluding Bayonetta)

Of course PS3 has one RPG i like too, Demon Soul

The problem is the ps3 versions of rpgs are being released looking better. Take a look at resonance of fate and Final Fantasy XIII and you will see why. While i agree most action games are better suited with the 360 controller i like consistency with my purchases. Most action adventures are 360 such as bayonetta, x-blades etc Actually im thinking of my ps3 colletion.. i pretty much have only exclusives rpgs and fighting games.. the rest are on 360.

These 3 link prove 3 things.

The Xbox 360 is more likely to fail. (5 million sold more than PS3, slim made sales go sky high)

http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=27357227

PS3 exclusives are of higher quality. (Short linear games are the lowest quality to me, Mass Effect 2 is 9.5/10, Fable 2 is AAA, Gears, halo th best scored shooters etc)

http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=27376416&msg_id=323411146#323411146

PS3 exclusives have better graphics. (Rage on 360 in 60fps)

The only two reason to get an Xbox 360 is Halo and River Rush. (Or the 9.5/10 Mass Effect 2)

Sure thing, i like everything you say

I plan to buy Fable 3, gears 3, Mass Effect 3, Project Kingdoms etc on 360, so it has more than Halo though

See i really hate Halo and have no clue what river rush is. But the controller for the 360 will easily triumph a PS3 handle for most styles of gaming. The graphical difference isn't enough to persuade me to get it on ps3.. Graphics is not everything. How the game is controlled is more of a decision maker. If the new gioteck controller on the ps3 will be good i might start to go more ps3 orientated but for now im more than happy to continue playing FPS, sports, racing and action adventures on my 360.

1. 360 higher failure rate. Proven and widely known fact.

2. Lets wait until release date to make claims. Its 80% vs 20% now.

3. I have ME2. Didnt even finish it. Its just another Elder Scrolls choose your adventure game. Also available on the PC.

I buy most RPGs on 360 myself, simply because come earlier, i did buy FF13 on PS3 though, but i dont want to talk about this game (total waste of $$$, i would be much better buying a 2ond copy of demon Soul to support the company that deserves it)

The thing is, that my best JRPG is Lost Odyssey still and my best WRPGs Mass Effect, Demn Souland Fable 2, so 360 just has more of my major ones

I agree that if you have a PS3 for RPG, is still a great choice anyway, it is more the way things were played for me that make 360 matter so much more

If i bought a PS3 and 360 today, i would consider them about equal in RPGs, but thing is all those years i have mainly played RPGs on 360 and only two on PS3

Yeh Lost Odyssey is great but its not the best JRPG.. The title will go to Tales of Vesperia. ( which i have on 360 lol) though again they will make the PS3 version better. The problem is its about 2 years late. and Im not fond of WRPG's so Mass effect does nothing for me. Demons soul is a nice game but its just not as great as ToV was for me. The story was engaging with some lovable characters. And to the above posters.. like i stated the Phat PS3 owners have had just as much problems as 360 owners, You cant argue your point by using polls on gamespot . You know how many fanboys there are for each console. And as i said Both new revisions of consoles eliminated all the older versions problems so they are roughly on par with quality products.

It is nice to have both systems, isnt it ? :)

I like both WRPGs and JRPGs myself, but since i used to be a PC gamer mainly years back, i still have a greater desire for open WRPG like games, like Fable and Deon Soul

Still love my JRPGs too, like Lost Odyssey, Tales etc

I am sure the new Gimbli JRPG will be amazing on PS3 too, as for Tales on PS3, i dont think i would replay it just for the extras, but i always keep an eye

If FF13vs turns out good too (unlike FF13, that is), PS3 will indeed be one of the best for JRPGs too, i still cant get over Lost Odyssey greateness though, FF13vs will have to be extremely different than FF13 and more like old FF7-8-9 to win me back

Yeh it would. Man i love the old FF games :( XIII was a massive disappointment, but a graphical masterpiece. FF VS XIII is the only game im hyped up for. Ive beta'd XIV and have not enjoyed it, so its out of the picture for me.

I still have my old PS1 FF disks, i loved those games so much, mainly for the handpainted varied fantasy worlds, that got lost in FF12, FF13

I even went to the trouble to export all videos from the disks and now have them all extracted for my collection

I have lost all and any hope for Square myself, but as a RPG gamer, i will defnatly at least rent FF13vs and buy if it is absolutly nothing like FF13 as far as RPG gaming and world design goes

I dont play MMOs and most startegy RPGs myself, expect very few like Heroes on PC

Either one. They're both awesome consoles. Can't really go wrong with either one. I personally prefer PS3's exclusives to 360's. But 360 still has amazing exclusives going for it. They both have awesome lineups for 2010 and 2011.

The SONY PlayStation3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 have been rivals since the PS3 released in 2006, 1 year after the release of the first Xbox 360 console. Both consoles have released brilliant exclusives. For example; The PS3 has Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted, Little Big Planet and God of War 3, while the Xbox has; Halo 3, Gears of War, Left 4 Dead and Splinter Cell Conviction. But both consoles are popular and successful. With Xbox's Kinect and PS3's Move, god only knows what will happen in the future. The PS3 released 1 year after the Xbox 360 and has since provent its not some crappy wannabie. The PS3 is still beating the 360 in monthly sales. The only reson the Xbox has sold more consoles is because it released the year before on Christmas. PS3 games are formated in Blueray which allows for some very detailed graphics. The Xbox runs on HD DVD, and HD DVD lost the format war to Blueray. And the PS3 has built-in Bluetooth so all it's controllers and headsets can conect to the console without a router. The PS3 also has in-built internet plus the ability to surf the web, while to Xbox needs a $100 add on to conect to the internet and you can't surf the web on it either. You can also conect your PS3 to a monitor, keyboard and mouse and hey presto! You have a computer. And the PS3 hard drive can be replaced. The PS3 slimline released earlier this year with it's thin design and 120gb hard drive. The Xbox 360 consoles also had over heating problems. If you leave you Xbox running non-stop for 5-7 hours 3 quarters of the ring around the power button, this was called "The Red Ring of Death". The xbox 360 slim redesign featured; Built-in internet, Kinect ports and has next to no overheating problems. Both are great consoles and have released the dog's ballocks in video games. But the PS3 wins the day for me. But, who's side are you on???
