I've owned a PS3 for the last year now and own the 80gb model with software BC. In my opinion Sony hasn't given us enough great titles to justify how much we did spend from lanuch to when the higher end models stopped being made. It's not so bad for people now since they've cut back on USB ports, the Flash card drives and BC on the new models, but it wasn't cheap to buy it before; still isn't now.

No doubt the great titles so far for the PS3 are:

Metal Gear Solid 4

Ninja Gaiden Sigma

Resistance Fall Of Man

Ratchet and Clank Future: TOD

(Upcoming)

Resistance Fall Of Man 2

Killzone 2

God of War 3

GT 5

There are some other only PS3 released titles but nothing in my opinion to be considered a good buy at $60 when compareing what you could buy for Xbox 360.

When you look back on if you bought a XBox 360 it seems like it would've been a better buy; outside of the RROD issues with older models.

Where is the future going with the PS3. So many titles are just ports on the PS3 anyhow. I'm still playing my PS2 to date while my PS3 collects dust. If anyone brings up a list of Xbox 360 games you will get a huge list of great games, and of course one thing that the PS3 really lacks are RPG's.

I really think the PS3 is going down the toilet, yes we see a few nice games each year and most are just Xbox 360 ports.

Any other PS3 owners seeing this?

(No I do not own a Xbox 360)

I agree. The PS3 may or may not surpass the other consoles, but its getting better and better every month. The games slated to come out in 2009 will be among the best games to come out for that entire year.

I understand where your coming from, I picked up a 60g model at the beginning of this year because I got it cheap and knew I wanted BC. It took a while but the games are starting to flow out. The exclusive library right now isnt too bad, and by the end of next year you will see more that will justify your purchase.

I really can't see my ps3 collecting dust anytime soon (just from an excluisve standpoint)

  • Warhawk / MGO
  • Resistance 2 - R2 online
  • LittleBigPlanet - playing unlimited levels , creating , sharing

Plus Motorstorm 2 and Socom are available for me if I have the time , and Killzone 2 is coming early next year.

Other people are going to be digging Wipeout HD and Valkyria Chronicles.

The ps3 has arrived in a big way.

It was definitely slow goings there for a while, but things are picking up and I'm becoming more and more happy with my purchase.

My PS3 collection is larger than my 360 collection... so yes, I think buying one was certainly worth it.

But I love my 360 too, of course.

I wouldn't trade it in, I would just buy a Xbox 360, just waiting for the new models.

Anyhow, multiplats are not why you buy a certain console. You buy it for the exclusives, if I wanted to play games released on all systems I wouldn't even pick PS3 as my system to buy.

I know that the PS3 has some great games going for it in the future, I'm just looking at the value for your dollar. Sony provides you with a great system and blue ray player, however it doesn't have a ton of worth while exclusives, lots of multiplats though which doesn't make the system any better.

I'm just finding it stupid that we had to wait a good 2 years just to get some good titles... Very slow start.

Nope, don't see that. All the good games are coming out in the next two weeks and I'll be buying most of them. I've never had a period of time in which I felt there was nothing good to play. I have been extremely satisfied with my PS3, infact, the blu ray player has even made me a much more avid movie buyer.

Yeah, what can you do? I have a PS3, a 360 now, and I will have a Wii after Christmas. Well I actually have the Wii now but it's gift for my kid. The more options the better.

I think given certain conditions, even with the 360 price cut, the PS3 is still a much better buy. Free online saves you money, it's a blu ray player, and of course, its exclusive games. This obviously means to take advantage of the PS3's perks over the 360, you have to have an HDTV and no blu-ray player as of yet, you have to actually play games online, and you have to like its exclusives.

Another perk is that most of the games that are excluded from the PS3 but are on the 360 also make their way onto the PC, and if your computer is halfway decent, you can probably run most of it with varying settings, and in many cases, despite maybe not being as pretty as a console version if your computer isn't too hot, it may still be better for its freakishly better online support, ie orange box.

Of course if you're still stuck in the old ways of console gaming, the 360 offers the same power essentially, more games, and at slightly cheaper prices if you need an HDD and much cheaper if you don't. For me, the 360 holds very little value to me as my pc is good, and its true exclusives don't have much appeal to me. I do on the other hand have an HDTV, plenty of ps2 games that can be upscaled, granted, not well, and I love playing games online, but would never pay a premium for it so the ps3 was an obvious choice for me. When I bought it, it was during that weird sale of the 60gb hardware bc time, and it wasn't much more expensive than a 360 so it was a no brainer for me.

I guess I just ran out of a good games to play. I own 24 PS3 games and played them all. I'm just woundering if the PS3 will put out games like the PS2 did. The great work done on a lot of the PS2 make it a still widley played system to date. I'm not looking at the PS3 in a fan boy view point. To be honest more work should be put into releasing better exlusives like they did for the PS2. For one, they should of kept Resident Evil series on the Playstation plateform. A lot of our good games go right on the 360.

Ps3 doesn't get much play time for me execpt for Metal Gear Solid 4 and Metal Gear Online. All of the multiplats go to my 360 for acheivements and superior online. After playing MGO and having to run through all the hoops of making accounts to just play online to only find out nobody ever has mics, Id rather just buy my multiplayer games for the 360. Although Little Big Planet and Resistance 2 looks amazing I hope they can change my mind.

The higher development costs are one reason most games are multiplatform, and Sony isn't willing to blow millions of dollars just to keep a game on their system when their systems are barely making them money in the first place. I mean did you like beat all 24 games? I am a college student so I don't have tons of free time but there's still plenty of my games that remain unbeaten yet they are still fun.

then we (incluiding myself ) should have waited till next year...since my TOP PS3 exclusive games are GOW3..KZ2..and it WAS GT5, until they decided to push it back to 2010-2011

I had a 360 and after a few RROD I got a PS3 and never looked back. The amount of quality titles is very favorable for the PS3 if you compare it to what the 360 had in the same amount of time. The 360 only looks good because it had a year headstart.
