PS3 wifi is piss poor, Sony cheapening out with hardware again

Another example of Sony's poor hardware in ps3. The built in wifi fro ps3 is just cheap, what can I say. When I turn on my ps3, I have constant drop outs, and not to mention very weak reception. Why did Sony have the cut corners and put a POS wifi in ps3?

I googled and I am not alone, widespread complaints on forums :

My 360 has a much stronger signal, with hardly ANY dropouts ever. Seems Microsoft using superior hardware than Sony.

They need to release a new ps3 model with a fix promt.

A handful of people have a problem, it must be their own setups. I've never had one problem with my PS3's wifi. I doubt you even own one reach.

If there was really an issue, you wouldn't have to do a google search to find people complaining about it on forums. It would be all over the place and general knowledge. You fail on any attempts at arguing.

Some people founf simple solutions that included not having your router in a poor location, changing router channels, making sure your cordless phones are not on the same freq...etc. One chap even said, "The problem is not in the PS3, but outside. Look in the proximity of the PS3 at other electronic equipment that might interfere with the PS3 wi-fi signal. In my case it was the wi-fi TV&Video transmitter. I moved-it 35 inches to the left and the PS3 wi-fi connection worked again as a charm." So see if you can make some changes to your router and see what happens. I haven't had trouble with my wireless ps3 or 360.

Wii doesn't have an Ethernet port and 360 didn't come with wireless. PS3 had the best internet connectivity.BigBoss255

I noticed this too. For connecting it can take several minutes. It's pretty slow, though for downloading it's the same speed as when my I hook the cable.

If I can't use the internet cable I don't go online on the ps3 at, which is fine by me since I only go online to download stuff.

Yes correct, also Microwave oven can cause problem to WiFi.

My Xbox 360 doesn't even get wifi.

When you move the box, everything inside rattles, wires are not secure properly, and the case is a squeaky piece of schit.

Disks can shift inside the primative tray and get scratched. They've had 7 years to fix this and didn't.

The first 5 generations of the Xbox360 didn't even have wifi, they only added it recently, it's a newer A/B/G wifi which means schit since %99.9 of internet service can't even fully utilize the older A/B wifi. And you shouldn't be using wifi for gaming in the first place. Wifi is for soccer moms, not gamers.

For those of you who are having trouble with wifi connectivity on the PS3, go in the settings and turn off "Media Server."

Only turn it on if you are actually going to use it.

Also if you are going by number of hits on google over actual evidence to support this stupidity, you should know that searching the same thing with 360 instead of PS3 nets FAR more hits. Really.

You can find widespread complaints about anything on the internet. Doesn't mean it's the majority. I have NO problems with PS3, wifi or other wise. There is nothing wrong with playing online with PS3, why do Lems think that it's laggy or broken all the time? It's exactly the same as playing a game on XBL, only you can't do cross game chat.

So far, reach3 hasn't even proved he owns a PS3. In the supposed pic of his "setup" he posted the only thing he had was a 360

I do, my room is nowhere near the one ethernet entry in the house and I still have constantly good connections, never drops. That's on PC and PS3.
