Hey everybody, I'm getting a next gen console, just thinking about the value of the 360 and PS3

360- £129.99

PS3 (80GB)- £229.99

We know the PS3 has a blue ray player, but to be honest, personally 'm not interested I'm playing blue ray DVDs, I wanna GAME!

People say the 360 breaks often, surely if you have warranty you can get it repaired?

What do ya think?

I thought the 80GB cost 300 here in the UK? Has it had some secret price drop or something? I'd recommend the 80GB over the Arcade unit but the Premium is only 40 pounds more. The 360 does break down often but it has a 3 year warranty. So RROD won't cost you anything, aside from your sanity.

don't buy the arcade model, buy the 60 gig version of the 360 it's a much better deal

anyway:

the 360 has a 3 year warranty for RROD as for whether or not the PS3 is worth the extra cash only you can answer that

ok first off, where did you find the 80GB for 220? last i saw it was closer to or even over 300

second, the 60GB model is around £120 if you go to wollworths

third, not very often with the newer models, ive only ever had one RROD and that was from a launch model that was stuck in bad ventalation.

edit: the woowoths ofer ended i think, but ive head that alot of ppl are putting deals on for the 60GB, shop around and im sure you can get it for around the usual price of the arcade

PS3 is more reliable, and 360 might need some add ons (like buying a router, paying 5 bucks and 50 for a year, but i think thats ok for some people) 360 has a warranty ,so its ok.,,,,idk

Well judging by that. You will be left with hardly any harddrive if you get an Xbox 360, which is not a good choice in the long run. A 20GB Xbox360 harddrive in the UK is something like £40, but you'll use that up soon enough.

With the PS3 you will get a quieter system, free-online play, more exclusives, and a more reliable system. Plus if the PS3 does break, Sony will replace your system within a few working days free-of-charge. Whereas my mates Xboxs, they had to pay to get it fixed.

I know, but that's the hard truth, there is a chance that you will waste money, but there is not getting out of it. I say flip a coin because you can't go wrong with either, no one of this board can tell you which one are you going to enjoy more, only you can make that decision. Providing you don't listen to the BS half of this board say, you will undoubtedly enjoy either, which one you enjoy more really comes down to personal taste. Or you could always get both, but if your only getting one, I will still advise you to flip a coin.

i agree, both have alot to offer but here in the UK you can get a 60GB bundle for around 170 but the same ps3 bundle will cost you around 310! thats £140 difference! (i can't seem to find price drop news so these are prices as they stand)

i would say go with the 360, its library is alot better (if you don't have a kick ass PC) in direct comparison with the ps3's and it has arguably the better online service.

oh and the controller is better too :P

Amazingly, there is still some cost incurred in the actual shipping of the console to the point where its going to be fixed. Which, depending on where you live, can cost anywhere from $20 to $110.

Yes, I would assume that a price in Australian Dollars would not be as high in the United Kingdom. But that is still a cost that needs to be payed.

Since you put alot of emphasize on games I recommend a 360. Either way, it depends on what games you are most looking forward to.

Depends. If you don't want blu-ray as you have staed, no. You will hsve a greater selection of games with the 360. This is not to say the PS3 has no games as some would say, but rather, the 360 has more quaity and better games. also, don't buy the myth that blu-ray is the be all end all. I have both consoles. Both are stellar ocnsoles. I still play my 360 more often.

Sorry if the typing sucks. I'v got my 21 mo old crawling all over me.

MS only covers the RROD with that 3 year warranty. Any other problems like your harddrive dying or the 360 scratching your games is NOT COVERED. So yep you have to pay.

1. Ps3 40GB is £289, and 80GB is £349.99 IIRC.

2. I would say it depends if your interested in Blu-ray. And your not... go figure.

3. RRoD doesn't cost you a penny, besides it's unlikely that you'll get it in the first place.

4. If you do get a 360 and plan to play online, a HDD is a must.

[QUOTE="ONLYDOD"]Flip a coin to make your decision.gormo4

But if I get a ps3- then regret it, I waste £100.. -.-

Thats the point of this thread- =.=

MGS4,Uncharted,Resistance,Folklore,Siren Blood Curse,Valkirya Chronicles, White knight story Final Fantasy VS XIII and some other exclusives are on the PS3 and other awesomes multiplats as well i dont know much about the 360 library(because i dont have one) but i know that it has some great games too like Gears or war and Dead rising and HALO 3 and GeOW 2 coming.

So my suggestion is that Check the exclusives that are out and make your decision. Obviously i recommend you the PS3 because i dont own a 360, have to say that MGS4 is the best game i've played in my life and if you liked previous MGS games you dont want to miss this one specially if you are into Sthealth games.

its also a matter of comfort, im meaning the controllers, if you want great D-Pad for Fighting games buy the PS3 because i read that the Xbox 360 D-pad is bad.

if you want to play with Darth vader instead of Yoda (or viceversa) buy the PS3 or viceversa :)

Good luck. :)

What do ya think?

gormo4

The PS3 is 299, not 229.

Yes, I would assume that a price in Australian Dollars would not be as high in the United Kingdom. But that is still a cost that needs to be payed.Thewbacca

If your 360 RRODs you dont have to pay anything. At all. :|

Did they fix the controller? If not , then I'd wait.

I think you should make your own decision and not let kids in this board make the decision for you.

Plus if the PS3 does break, Sony will replace your system within a few working days free-of-charge.Whereas my mates Xboxs, they had to pay to get it fixed.

which world do you live in? fanboyland?

Amazingly, there is still some cost incurred in the actual shipping of the console to the point where its going to be fixed. Which, depending on where you live, can cost anywhere from $20 to $110.

not in the UK :D

the 360 is free to get fixed, (for the RROD) and so is the shipping. If it's any other problem, i.e. dre, or a very few other problems, then yes it does cost to repair the console, just like any other console. there is nothing special about the PS3, or the 360 in terms of repairs, unless you talk about the unprecedented 3 year warranty for the RROD for the 360.

I would say your friends PS3 was still under warranty, and your friends 360 was not RROD, which would not be covered under the 3 year warranty. Plus the 360 was not under an extended warranty, and older then 3 months old.

360 all the way, ps3 is not good to buy right now, i would suggest waiting until it has some good games.

looking back, i probably should have waited till MGS4, FF13, and GOW3 were all out so that i would have actually had something to play.

Well, if it's gaming you want, I reckon the 360 would be better for you.
