[QUOTE="x3q7rr"]hey i haven't got a ps3 yet and i was wondering what it is like i have played it at shops but i need someone who has takin it home and played it on there own TV. Tell me what has failed on you and what has been a blast_AsasN_
I picked up the 60GB version a couple of months back and I have no gripes with it at all. It's a fantastic console. I love the XMB as it's easy to use and has a nice clean look. The games are great. Resistance, Motorstorm, Oblivion, Fight Night, Need for Speed, etc. I'm a little frustrated about the delays on a few of the bigger name games, but I'm optimistic and the extra development time can only be a good thing. The BluRay player is an awesome thing to have. Not all BluRay's look great, but the one's that are done right look amazing. The browser is also a very nice bonus. Surfing the web on my 55inch LCD from the comfort of my couch is awesome. The sixaxis controller hasn't been used to great effect yet, but it was fun to use in the Godfather and will definitely be great for flight games. The graphics are definitely outstanding. If you've seen anyone play Motorstorm on an HD TV, you'll know what I'm talking about. Contrary to what some believe, I found Resistance to be pretty impressive graphically. I stopped a few times while playing just to take a look at all the details and when you see the snow in that game, it's easily the best weather effect I've seen in any game ever. One of the most important factors is the value of the system. Regardless of what fanboys tell you, the PS3 easily has the most value of all three next gen consoles.

OK so you get Blue Ray and you can surf the web on your big tv..wares the games?

I own a PS3, in addition to both newer consoles, and I am having a blast with it so far.

Contrary to popular belief, it's a great console with no lack of games to play. My biggest gripe with it is the lack of scaling software for games like resistance that do not run in 1080i. I have a 1080i TV that does not support 720p and games like that downscale to 480p. Thankfully, a new 46" 1080p tv is on its way and the PS3 should become the new, dominant (due to its high-def capabilities) part of my entertainment center.

PS: Resistance online is just as good as everyone says.

Enter XBOX 360 "ELITE"

Full HDMI with cables right out of the box.

www.monoprice.com $5 for HDMI cables. Yeah...it's definitely worth picking a console based on the availability of an HDMI cable in the box

[QUOTE="Soulxxx"]The PS3 is fully equipped for anything you want. It's the best console out of the three (Well, the Wii isn't really a competition). That is in terms of specs.

Games-wise, the 360 has had a year start and the only game worth mentioning is Gears of War which only came out a year after the 360 launched, but it doesn't compete with Resistance's Online (40 people, 20 vs 20, huge maps, more weapons = more fun).

The Blu-ray player is there for a reason and that is 50 effing gigs of games. Resistance is arleady pushing 16 gigs, and it's a launch title. Already there are signs of games reaching full capacity (MGS4). And if you didn't know, more space on the disc means faster loading times (If developers choose to do it) and faster texture streaming.

So the PS3 is the better console in every way. With new exclusives coming to it, like Heavenly Sword and Lair. And some old oldies but goldies like MGS4 (Last game in the series, which is good because milking is BAD [refer to Halo]). Basically don't buy the entire "If you don't like the current titles" BS because you can't tell if you'll like them or not without playing them.

You said you played it... that should give you enough insight. I'm merely stating why it's the better console. (It is System Wars, isn't it?)Liquid_47

Your post fails on so many levels mate.

Only title worth mentioning is GeoW? So I guess the only title worth mentioning for the PS3 is Resistance. Oh, massive online is fun now? Last time I checked, PlanetSide flopped next to Counter-Strike.

MGS is not milking, but Halo is? Sorry, wasn't MGS 3 suppose to be the last game in the series? Gotta love double standards at System Wars, huh?

Oh, and I suppose you get what you pay for, seeing as you'd use that to justify the PS3 price tag. Guess what, you pay for Xbox Live. Xbox Live > PS3Online. So the PS3 isn't better in every way.

I own both systems, and u know what, xbox live is better all around then PSN, but what makes me wonder, is why with even 40 players in one room in an all out warzone in RFOM, there is no lag what so ever compared to any game I play on xbox live. Rainbow six is one of my favorite games online for the xbox live but the lag just sucks and were only playing in most of the rooms, 6 on 6 and still lags. U wouldnt know this though because u dont own a ps3, and to take things to another level you aint paying a cent to play these ps3 games online. I love xbox 360 but the ps3 is showing me alot of potential with this game, and I am already wondering just how games like killzone 2 and tekken 6 and gran turismo will play online for free. Makes u kind of proud of what the ps3 offers. I can only see things for the ps3 going uphill from here, with the games and all. So to the topic creator, if u ask me, I would say the investment on my ps3, is very satisfying and well worth it and im enjoying RFOM ever since launch, because the game is dat fun online especially when there is no lag at all. :)

I am more interested in the image quality on a std tv. I would think blueray movies look the same as regular dvd's when viewed on a regular component set.

Rent Resistance before you buy it.  It's not as good as some people make out.  Motorstorm is a little bit shallow.  Those are the only full games I've got on PS3 so I can't comment on other games.  The online is ok.  If you don't have a HDTV, get one.tool_rage

Resistance is like going old school with health packs and it reminds me of Call of Duty meets Doom - in other words it's outdated. Motorstorm can get boring real quick , even online.

I have both, and I love the PS3. And why the hell do everyone bring up 40 player? the game got excelent 2on2, 4on4. Mix Unreal torunament with Call of duty and you got resistance. It shouldn't even be compared with GeoW since they compete on whole diffrent levels, resistance is a classic shooter with great weapons and I really enjoy such games. GeoW was great single and co-op but didn't have that great multiplayer, three modes of some kind of survival deathmatch and the core combat is much to closecombat for my taste. Just go by what you like, just because a game isen't such a big success as another game it doesn't make your personal experience any worse.

There are alot of players online for RFOM, and RFOM has sold over 1 million copies so there is alot of ppl online when I go on, and doesnt matter, because my point is, on xbox live all it takes is one laggy person to make everyone else lag, where for RFOM u can see some ppl laggin but it doesnt make u lag what so ever even with some laggy ppl in there. Best thing it is free, and to have a server running a game that holds so many players all at once jammed into one room in a warzone with explosions happening everywhere with no lag, is very impressive to me and this is all free. That is my point. I am not saying it is better then xbox live, but sony is doing a pretty damn good job with there online community and doing it very quick for the short time the ps3 has been out and I look for it to improve from here on out. :)
