We all know now that Sony has botched just about every second of the PS3's existance... which is more to blame...

1. Development--- The overloading of so called "cutting edge" unproven technlogy which has given the unit an incredibly unrealistic price tag, unless you want to give things up. As well as making the console incredibly hard to program for.

2. Marketing--- The most god aweful comercials and ads, maybe ever, along with poor promotion of their few half way decent exclusives.

3. Underestimating the competition.....

The worst thing Sony has done is underestimate the competition. Sony did not keep exclusives and expected the PS3 to sell itself.

Sony underestimated Microsoft and Nintendo. They thought just because they sold 100 mill+ PS2's that the same would happen with PS3's... No Sony. The starting $600 price killed Sony...

I think its all been in the ads and the price. If they had those two nailed earlier on, i think we'd be in a completely different situation here. Im glad they are being fixed though, even if some want to label it as deperation.

Development isn't really as big of an issue as people make it out to be. there have been plenty of games on the PS3 practically equal to their 360 counterparts, and burnout paradise proves even EA can do it.

Development. The price tag made it get off to a very slow start and this combined with it being hard to develop for discouraged developers.

lalalalalalalalala, wait till hell freezes over!!

All that needs to be said is if the another console performed in the same manner as the PS3 and from a company other than Sony, it would be considered a waste....But since its a Sony, you know the rest of the story!

If you consider that system's ambitious pre launch campaign, then it's easy to see why some people have labelled it a failure based on what Sony was claiming it would do. They had an attitude that they didn't need to be competitive or even honest.

Comments like 4D, shooting for the sun, that it would replace PCs, sell 5 million without games, Kuturagi's "it's too cheap" all show this.

Basically Sony was way too cocky from the success of the PS2. The first year of the PS3 has hopefully humbled them and from here on out will make them more competitive.

Marketing was and is a problem for PS3. 360 has some awesome comercials cops and robbers, the water balllon fight, the shoot out one...PS3 has...well a creepy baby comercial. One more thing Sony did wrong was let the wrong people speak. Kaz for example should be gagged and locked up...Thank god that MS is not having Bill Gates promote their console.

Do you actually listen to PR talk? Better question: before the PS3 was announced, did you trusted every word a PR of any company has said?

Listening and believing are not the same thing. I can do one without the other.

And it's all relevent to the question what is the PS3's biggest failure. I don't feel it was the console's hardware, nor even it's software by this point. It was the extreme hype Sony conjured and failed to meet.

here is another list of PS3 biggest failures:

1. Having free online play
2. Having around 98 percent BC on their 20GB and 60GB model.
3. Having around 70-80 percent BC on their 80GB model
4. Having a 40GB that has ps1 BC only at a $400 price tag.
5. Making wifi standard except 20GB which is discontinued.
6. Having UT3 has a timed exclusive
7. Making Warhawk, Uncharted, Ratchet, and resistance.
8. Makinga knock on wood console.
9. Making HOME which ms is also planning on copying.

There is a distinct line between simple PR talk and completely lying to the customer. Although all companies are guilty of this, Sony is the biggest offender in the gaming community.

I think its all of the above. They've announced so much potential and promises but till this day it hasn't lived up to anything. Also they introduced new technology that makesgame developers struggle on the PS3 hardware which makes the PS3 games worse and they introduce a new format which boosted the price. Also unneeded features like blu tooth and wifi just to name a couple also boosted up costs. They didn't secure exclusives due to the arrogant thinking of brand loyality, so they have no other choice than to show more potential and promises in their advertisement becase they really do not have anything to show for. The PS3 is one of the biggest failures in gaming history. But I don't think they'll die, they'll just be dead last this gen. Just wait.

I think they overhyped the system. The way Sony hyped PS3's graphics we were expecting Crysis Max settings graphics. Alot of people said price but if Sony had kept its exclusives and had those Crysis Max settings level graphics from the get go and be worlds better then the 360 it still would have sold well.

Instead the 360 still has the best looking games and the Top graphical PS3 games that are supposedly better then the 360 top graphical games are not that much better looking.

All sony has to do is cut the price, make better online, secure many exclusives, and get multiplat games running better on their system and they kind climb out of their whole.

Well since you cows love to kvetch and use Gamerankings...I'll just go ahead and destroy your post like Unicron eating that planet in the beginning of Transformers The Movie.

Uncharted: 89% and dropping.
Mass Effect: 91.9% and stable.

Now, on to the topic before the cows began their pathetic damage control. I can't pick out a main failure for the PS3, it's all just a jumbled mess joke of a disaster and what not.

Development is top notch for the PS3. I would have to say marketing is the worst. Although it's getting better.

And this "JUST WAIT" nonsense is pretty ignorant. Lemmings should hope that "JUST WAIT" never goes away because this "JUST WAIT" thing is going to be gone really soon. Your setting yourself up Lemmings.
