PS4 Can't compete against Fire Emblem

A timed exclusive Action RPG ... compared with a Tactical Turn Based RPG?

I get the point.

But it's not the same. In a year-twos time there will be only one place to play Fire Emblem, cant say the same for FF7.

Explain to me how it's dumbed down.

I joined with Fire Emblem 7 on the GBA .... the game was pretty damn basic back then. It was less forgiving, but it was hardly more indepth.

@kali-b1rd: Fire Emblem 7 is part of what I'm talking about though. FE 6 was already very much made to be more accessible after Seisen no keifu and Thracia. I dont know if it's just the American version but FE7 is even easier than FE6 and has a tutorial. Nowadays they've started letting you turn off permadeath and adding in weeb pandering crap like petting and the stories have gotten really dumb.

But can Fire Emblem Three Houses compete with Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Persona 5? Don't think so.

@jasonofa36: Of course. Falcom is originally a PC dev that is why they usually do PC port for many of their games. Its just that their main fanbase is on Playstation that is why they focus a lot on the system then think about other platform.

Make sure you buy on switch this time. As usual, Port beg but when game arrives nobody on switch seems to buy those games.

@sakaixx: I'd get it on Switch. JRPGs and portability are so sweet of a combination. Wish I had a vita just for the trails alone, but sadly, they're expensive here.

The PS4 rocked JRPGs andg ames in general for 4 straight years but the fanboys wanted to Nintendo win and proceeded to ignore all that until the most garbagey JRPGseries ever Fire Emblem came in....

Pretty much every other JRPG is multiplat.

Fire Emblem is a solid JRPG experience. Then you have the FF7 Remake as competition... Split into parts... That SE promises will each be a full-game. Riiiiight...

I would love to play a JRPG that doesn't force their crappy story violently down my throat and tries its best for me not to play because they believe their story is so great. Is this one of those games?

I would say usually tactical jrpgs story beats are trimmed down. There is war going on and story flows in a summary like manner. Having said that FE has been going more mainstream these days. There will be alot of story beats. Especially with this new trend of harypotter school setting management. Its difficult to recomend you this game. There's going to be a lot of gameplay just not sure its the kind of gameplay you would like.

Imo theres too many breaks in Fire Emblem. I have the first release on 3DS. The game is good, its just waaaaaay too much cutscenes or stopping for dialogue.

It's why I said FE went mainstream these days. There will be a lot story beats. Despite that though its not a game that will lack gameplay. It's just hard to see most SW folks like it.

To be honest, I haven't been hype for just about any Fire Emblem game since the Sacred Stones and that was the only time I was so hype. I been slowly returning to the world of Fire Emblem but not just sold yet on Three Houses though. PS4 has FFVII remake, that's bigger then Three Houses.

Your opinion. I happened to love the game, 70 hours of gameplay and couldn't put it down. Buuuuut there are a couple of stuff that I didn't enjoy so it's far from perfect. To call the whole game shit just because of a couple.... questionable.... decisions for gameplay would be ridiculous IMO.

well I AM hyping Gamepass. Game subscriptions are the future and MS is doing it right (offering on PC, etc). Sony better rework their PSNow so its not a streaming service or they will be left in the dust next gen.

I don't really care for the genre but Valkyria Chronicles seemed good.

Well, the OP has a point: The PS4 is extremely weak in the RTS category.

But, then, Sony doesn't try to compete in that category; their focus is more on story-driven games, like Horizon Zero Dawn and FF7R. Nintendo grabbed a market that Sony isn't interested in.

As such, the Switch is primarily competing with the PC, which has more RTS games than you can ever count (it gains something like four or five released every month).

I know ProtossRushX is a hit or a miss when it comes to his (or her) threads, but he has a point! PS4 really doesn't have anything to go up against Fire Emblem or rather RTS games and while we don't consider 3rd party RTS filling in the void, Sony doesn't have PS4 RTS exclusive of it's own right. There's a reason why Switch is getting more praises because Nintendo has variety vs Sony's cinematic games. Not saying it's a bad thing for Sony but you get my point.

I would say Persona 5 is superior JRPG series, but OP was narrowing the pissing contest of which system has better tactical JRPGs.
