Excellent choice! But high end Denon for life for me :P I do have Sennheiser earbuds for my phone though.Who on earth uses those?
Sennheiser fo life!
Kinthalis
Still, this has been the best headset this gen. Yes, better than those shitty Tritton and TB shit...
Bazooka_4ME
Ignorance at its finest. If you had any clue about audio, you wouldn't even mention that headset, which is equally as bad as TB, Tritton, Astros etc.
The headset of the "genernation" would be something like these:
[QUOTE="wakefulness"]Strange, my S3 Earbud's mic works fine. Samsung > Apple? :PThey're really good quality, too. My Samsung earbuds sound much better than I expected...Huh. I wonder if this works with my VITA. (My iphone earphone mics never work!)

It's a good thing they've put this in... but I'm serious about my games so use my Turtle Beach PX5's!!jonesy1911How can you be serious about your games, yet choose bad audio?

I would rather my game goes through my home theater and I have a headset just for talking to people. Not all gamers play their games with headphones on.
This thread is about a headset. You talk and hear voices only through a headset not listen to the entire audio as a whole. Those would be headphones.
[QUOTE="McStrongfast"]Universal standards is another thing they're doing right, good to see that being inherited from the PS3. User upgradeable HDD, plug in whatever you want into that 3.5mm jack. Proprietary connections are almost always bulls**** which only serve to drive up the price of accessories.wakefulnessYeah, the headphone jack on the controller is only going to isolate audio feeds from the person on party chat right? I've never tried the 360 headset or any gaming set up (other than VITA) so I'm not sure if all audio from game+party chat will suddenly go into the headphone once I plug in something.
If plugged into the controller it isolates the voices into the headset or headphones. To get all audio passed through the headphones you would have to go through an audio out from the system.

I thought so, thanks for the confirmation. How can you be serious about your games, yet choose bad audio? Just because someone doesnt choose audiophile quality gear doesnt mean they arent serious about games. Umm but the guy claimed he is serious about his games so he is using Turtle Beach. The guy being responded to wasn't talking about surround sound systems or cheap headphones for chat. He is talking about his $250 PX5's that might have sound quality in the $40 range when compared to real headphones. Console gamers are suckers for gimmicks and gaming companies really know how to take advantage with bells, whistles and marketing campaigns like "Official Product of MLG. These are supposed to be good yet they are not used anywhere else in the audio world. And the console companies encourage this by making them officially licensed products while restricting the use of real products.Very well. That does not mean he cant be serious about games and buy a product that suits him? The headphones he bought may have less quality than a pair of audiophile headphones but that in no way makes them sound like a $40 pair. It aslo doesnt mean they are not more than plenty for a "serious" gamer.
You are simply being an audio elitist.
I understand quite well that these companies are using gimmicks to market to gamers but thats what all companies do. They market to a specific consumer. If he feels that this gear was just in cost thats all that matters. Is that the best choice for you or me? No, but you can not call a person out as not being a serious gamer because they chose a different product than you. Same thing happens in the audio world with headphones any way. Look at beats audio or BOSE. Just because they come with a high price tag it doesnt make them better but yet they sell like crazy. It comes down to if a consumer is happy with their purchase or not.Its up to them to research the options before they buy.
I have spent more many on some of my two channel audio set ups than most people have on entire home theatres. Hell I have spent more on a DAC then a lot people spend on audio systems. Point is what i see in value with these products are not the same to the next person.
When I play my Rega system for people some hear the difference and some dont. Some get the same experience from lesser equipment like BOSE. I wouldnt call them out because they overpaid I just chalk it up to its their opinion.
I never use my mic when I'm playing on my own. It's nice to have a mic when you're playing with friends.i'm not sure why people want every person to have a mic. Do you really enjoy 12 year olds screaming gay slurs or how they f***ed your mom, or every stoner talking about how much they be blazin it up all day bro?

yeah, that's pretty much the only time I use mine. strangers are scary
Yes. Bose and Beats do sell like crazy for similar reasons that Turtle Beach and Tritton does. Its not just about what I have. There are numerous brands of headphones that can get the job done. Gamers don't know about them though because they only know what they see at Gamestop and assume they are the best. Now I don't know if you have ever heard Turtle Beach headphones but headphone quality wise, it is about a $40 experience. Hell. Sennheiser makes $30 headphones that sound better than a $300 pair of Tritton Warheads. These are all tinny soundi g and have absoutely no soundstage. Not that a gamer really knows what soundstage means but they would definitely hear the difference if given something to compare to. Its like thinking chuck steak tastes amazing without ever trying Porterhouse or Ribeye. And sometimes the price isn't all that different. Now Turtle Beaches DSS2 or Astros Mixamp, I really have no problem with. These things are great (especially the Mixamp) for providing 7.1 Dolby Headphone. Its the cans themselves where the problem is. Once you start stripping away features from these audio systems like wifi, cell phone connectivity while gaming and licensed surround sound presets, you have a much cheaper audio system. Why are these things so much more important than the actual speakers they are driving?Murderstyle75I never said those things matter more than the actual speakers and i know there are better options for less money. The Trittons may be greatly over priced but they offer much more than just better sound quality for a gamer. Show me a set of powered Senns that cost $30 that are meant for 5.1/7.1 games along with being wireless, have a mic, in-line or on the headphone volume and muting controls. You cant. I know Senns sound great and that a $30 pair "may" have better sound quality but you cant compare that at all. Show me a set up with some Senns and a mixamp and all of the features a gamer would need, like the features above I listed, and then at that price point you can argue the Senn setup is a better deal because it will sound better but to compare a gaming headset to a pair of $30 headphones isnt as simple as just "they sound better". I am also positive that $30 Senns will not sound better for gaming anyway then the high end mainstream brands. You go higher up the line and for sure they will. You are again calling everything bad quality just because it is overpriced and not what YOU would choose. That is not true and as long as the consumer is happy with their purchase who cares.
Trust me. I've compared the Sennheiser HD 201's to even my Astro A40's through the mixamp and they fsound quite a bit better. What you are not understanding is that even these higher end mainstream setups have absoutely zero soundstage. Who cares about that though. Its the 21st century. Convenience trumps quality any day of the week.Murderstyle75So now it's Senns with a mix amp. Add a mic in there and I might agree it sounds "better". Better deal for sure. I am not disagreeing that if set up properly something cheaper can sound better. I know that and that's why I wouldn't pick the mainstream brands but for someone who wants 5.1/7.1 gaming headphones ready to go and is willing to pay x price for y headphones that's their thing. You can't say they are not a serious gamer. Maybe a misinformed gamer.

Or AKG's, Denon's, Beyerdynamics, Audio Technica's, Klipsch, Ultrasone, etc, etc, etc. And yes. Very misinformed. I was just poking fun of the guy who thought he had the best with Turtle Beach. But hey. I got screwed in the past as well when I went out and bought the A40's. but lucky for me it wasn't a total loss because (a) I got the mixamp (b) The A40 headphones are so over priced even without the mixamp that selling them doesn't equal much of a loss. Its just unfortunate because so many people buy these things with the idea that they are getting an incredible product. I just wonder why Microsoft and Sony isn't trying to work with the real audio companies instead.
MS just released official pics of the headset and said it will NOT be includeddrakekratosThis is awesome. I sincerely hope you're truthing. Where's the link?

When I started learning about real audiophile equipment I was blown away. Although it has become an incredibly spendy habit. My two channel setup cost well over five grand.
Something that really helped Xbox Live for the 360 was the fact it included a headset. Not including one this time seems foolish
South Park said it best last night, no matter what Xbox people can't listen to reason and will always think Xbox is better, but playstation ppl can be the same way I had both Xbox 360 and ps3 and I just liked the ps3 better just my opinion, it just all about not being able to say the console you use isn't as good
