So could PS4 be the only true "next gen" console? Meaning the huge leap in graphics compared to the rumored weak specs of the Wii U and Xbox 720.
I feel like the PS4 will be the most powerful next gen console. Though I feel it won't be a significant lead.
What do you think?
PS4 could release games with 30x the polygons
In June last year we heard the next PlayStation could be ten times as powerful as the current system. However, in 2011 we were also told the PS4 would be with us in the next couple of years, but this is looking less likely due to the fact Sony hasno plan to make an announcement at E3this year regarding their next-gen console.
It's easy to see why we would doubt a release of the PS4 in 2013, but you cannot hide the fact the new console will be more powerful. Further proof of this can be found in a recent job listing from Naughty Dog, who has said they are working on a next-gen game capable of 30x the polygons, which would mean 1,000,000 polygon characters.
Anarticle heresuggests some gamers would argue the current batch of consoles are already next-gen, so Naughty Dog could be referring to their next game, which as we know is The Last of Us. However, most gamers consider the PS4 to be the next-gen console. We already reported onehalf of Naughty Dog were working on The Last of Us, this could mean the other half are working on Uncharted 4 complete with 1,000,000 polygon character models.
Our recent articles regarding possiblestoriesandantagonistfor Uncharted 4 doesn't seem as important at this stage, not when you consider the current version of the game uses 30,000 polygons and the next-gen version could have another 970,000 on top of that.
There have been suggestions that Uncharted 4 will be a no go, but consider this; Sony needs a flagship game for the launch of the PlayStation 4, and a fourth outing for Nathan Drake could be it –if Naughty Dog can make vast improvements to the story and the gameplay that is.
When the PS3 first launched back in 2006 it had a rocky start, it's for this reason why Sony needs to come out of the starting blocks running. There are many ways this can be achieved, such as an improved controller, cloud gaming (which we have covered in another article), improved design, a price reduction and more. However,a report herelooks at how backwards compatibility will be another great feature for the PS4. Okay, the idea of playing your PS3 games on a next-gen console would be cool; do you think this is a feature Sony would finally bring back?
