Sort of funny to hear all the plastic box excuses. There were tons of PS3s, 360s, Wiis and Wii-Us in plastic boxes running for hours with no problems. Can Sony not produce a plastic box that their new console can run in without overheating? It's not like Target designed the display...Sony did.

That being said a couple of consoles overheating is no reason to panic yet.

That being said part 2...I'm sort of glad I cancelled both of my pre-orders and that I am going to wait until next year to buy the new consoles. No games, and I'll wait for them to work out the bugs.

it wasn't overheating. lol!! It just frozed and locked up. There wasn't any red light on it. i hope this crap doesn't happen to the retail consoles, that's for sure. We'll know within 24hrs, cause gamers will be playing the PS4 all night once they get them.

You realize the people dooming the PS4 over this are xbox fanboys. and the ones denying and making excuses are PS fanboys right? You also realize both consoles will wind up with a % of them being "lemons"

That's not the real PS4 UI though. Is just a placeholder for demo units so that might cause problems.

Best Buy employees have stated that the console in the plastic box is a dummy. So the issues are confirmed. Big Trouble for little Sony.

We'll know for sure if PS4 has a problem in a couple of weeks.

I would hope not after the hassle MS went through with Xbox 360.

The one at my local best buy locked up repeatedly too. It even had issues registering the controller at times. Obviously not an isolated issue

I doubt it will overheat from MP3s but 1080p at 60fps will set the Xbone on fire for sure. :D

This has happened at two stores in my area as well. With the first one we saw, I had just assumed that maybe it wasn't set up yet. It was blue-screened just like this video and there was no one there at all. But at the second store there were employees there talking about it crashing on a customer. They didn't know what happened. But yeah, these incidents are real, folks.

It doesn't take a whole lot of brain power to see that the PS4 isn't built to breathe very well. Although I can't be certain that ventilation is the problem in the first place (though I think it is), I'm content with holding off on my purchase for the time-being while this gets sorted. The launch line up is small, there are no "must have" games for me yet, so I can wait.

Well it overheats just from playing demos in Target, so I wouldn't be so sure about that. Also, it can't play MP3s. Maybe if you wobble it a bit on a flat surface you can get some extra cooling.
