So ps4 has barely any must have games, sure uncharted 4 is coming out and probably's going to be great, but so far all we've had has only been remastered games and a few interesting (but yet not great) games. So now sony has come up with this ps4.5 model Which as been confirmed and it seems like an excuse for the low potential of the ps4. So what do you guys think about it?

I love my PS4. Xbox One doesn't have anything that intrests me. Halo is played out and Quantum Break looks so so. However opinions are like a-holes...

As someone who owns a PS4, Xbox One, and good gaming PC I somewhat agree with you.. I haven't played many games on my PS4.. Destiny, Last of Us Remastered.... But for someone who just owns one platform, I would bet the PS4 is awesome.

That said, once the games finally come out it will be all worth it. Horizon and Uncharted 4 look nuts. I want to see Ready at Dawn take another shot at The Order.. I was one of the minority that really liked The Order, but yeah, it definitely could be improved. I'm also excited for PSVR.

--

I wouldn't worry about the PS4.5. I can't imagine they would actually make any games 4.5 only, as that would shove people back to the Xbox. I assume big AAA types games would just run at a slightly better framerate, maaaaaaaybe smaller less taxing indie games in 4K, and 4K movies. If you are the type of person that would buy a PS4.5 lets say 3 years after PS4 launch, why don't you have a gaming PC instead? Oh, you already have a gaming PC, ball on then I guess. :P

It's true that the PS4 lacks quality exclusives and it doesn't look to get much in the near future, but Bloodborne is fantastic, Street Fighter V is superb, Horizon Zero Dawn looks interesting, and there are a good number of multiplats to keep one busy. However, If you have a serviceable PC, it looks like Bloodborne could be the only worthwhile game you will ever get on the PS4.

I personally don't own a gaming PC so I bought PS4 for the third party support.

It's definitely my least favorite of the three current gen consoles and has just been gathering dust for months while I wait for Uncharted 4 whereas my Xbox One and Wii U are used on a regular basis.

Looking at Sony's past history, they are always weak in the beginning and then release their best stuff in the second half of the generation, so I have hope that by the end of the generation, the PS4 will have some great exclusives that will make me not regret my PS4 purchase.

Plays all multi's like Xbox, and has way more exclusives. Sorry, it can't be a disappointment, unless X1 is a failure.

both consoles are in the same boat re worthwhile exclusives really. bloodborne and until dawn are the only ones i can think of worth having for the ps4, and they're lacking broad appeal. there's a lot of potentially must have exclusives coming this year, ps4 wise. if what you're saying still holds true come next jan then i think you're title will be accurate and i'll probably sell the ps4 and go back exclusively to the pc

It's the best console out right now but I agree. I think it's more just the video game industry in general though. Years of big budget publishers hording all the games to themselves will do that. There isn't a whole lot to choose from. The xbone doesnt really offer anything more. Nintendo has their stuff but all in all there just isn't a lot to choose from.

I'm someone who has been gaming for a long time though and have seen this coming a mile away for years. All these companies are just hording crap. EA, Activision, Ubisoft etc etc. They either bought up everyone or put them out of business and just release the same titles every year. Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are no different. This is what we are left with. You don't see those other companies or publishers releasing games or playing on the same playing field any more. There's a lack of competition. These companies are so huge they don't need to come out with anything that great or new.

I'd be disappointed as well if I was only interested in a fat cutscene QTE 3rd person cover game, about an Indiana Jones knock-off. Luckily, I enjoys games as a hobby, and the PS4 has done the job 'I' and 'many other gamers' would expect in the investment of a PlayStation 4.

Seems to me you're just loosing touch with enjoying games, or did long ago. Gaming isn't for you, perhaps take up modeling, going to the movies, or fishing.

IT doesn't have anything to do with losing touch. I used to manage a game store back in the day and the selection of games was much greater. It's just a fact. It's more like you aren't in touch with what game developers have been doing for years. They've pulled the rug over your eyes.

There was also much greater competition for having quality and new and innovative exclusive games. There were a lot of failures that way back then due to innovation but there was also much greater competition.

There simply were a lot more developers and they were also playing on a much closer playing field as far as funding. Maybe you should take up fishing because you obviously don't understand gaming.

The ps4 is fine as a console. The ps4.5 is just a money grab by sony because they aren't making as much money on games as they used to because there aren't as many. There are a select few big budget publishers that have big sales and that's it. It's just a way to make money. It's marketing. It's also why we are seeing these companies flood the market with remasters.

None of that speculation has anything to do with enjoying games, that's purely from a buisness stand-point. Which TC is not doing, he's stating PS4 is about U4 or Remasters and that's full of #enterswearword.

Also no "fact" was given. Stores mean less now with downloads being the primary selection of games on all modern gaming devices. Welcome to 2016.

I been enjoying my PS4 since launch and don't regret my purchase and I think it's the best console around but not as good as PS2 to say the least. These are the games I own on my PS4:

  • The Last of Us
  • Infamous: Second Son
  • Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor
  • Watch Dogs
  • Soma
  • Street Fighter 5
  • Assassin's Creed: Black Flag
  • Injustice: Gods Among Us
  • Destiny
  • Killzone: Shadow Fall
  • Knack
  • Resogun
  • Onechanbara Z2: Chaos
  • Senran Kagura: Estival versus
  • The Evil Within

These are the games I own and I gotta say that the PS4 was slow at start but now, it's gotten better with more games are now available library.

It does affect the gaming experience though. Companies like EA, Microsoft etc bought up all these other companies or put them out of business. They took their money and left or were forced out or whatever. Just the nature of things. It's a shame too because it's much more difficult now for start up developers to make any headway. Sony, nintendo and microsoft can basically sit on what they've made their money on and just release the same crap over and over.

There really is no need for the ps4.5. It's marketing. The ps4 is plenty powerful enough. They'll love me for saying that but it's true.

Even the ps2 days even though i go back farther than that. But all those companies there was greater competition for exclusive games. Go down a list of ps2 games sometime and look at all the developers back then and how big they were. Those companies simply don't exist anymore or have been bought out made completely irrelavant or whatever. Now we get a ubisoft game yearly. Rockstar. EA. Activision. There are a few other big ones but yeah. Most big budget games are multiplat anyways to maximize profit. Then you have all these indie games that maybe sell 5 copies and can't compete.

That PS4.5 is purely for 4K televisions from all believable knowledge, if you lack a 4K television? A wasted purchase over regular model.

But this is 'again' off the subject.

Just more speculation on your part pitchforking how greedy everything is, ''boo'' big buisness is irrelevant to a customer when the product/ still delivers. So why not stick on the actual subject of 'games'. Not your theories on how evil or lazy the industry is.

I'm not trying to hate but your rebuttals are so far from the point.

Ask yourself, what 'kinds' of games do you like? And I bet the PS4 has your itch of fancy in gaming, in plenty. Either you're poorly informed or just looking to make excuses because you're burnt out-of gaming.

Exclusive-wise... yeah, I guess I haven't been too impressed. But I don't really care what games are exclusive and what aren't. I've played plenty of great games thus far on the PS4. I'll agree with the over-saturation of remaster's, though. Many of the PS4's highest rated games are remasters. I think the system itself is perfectly fine, but I expect more bigger games to come out in the next few years.

The PS4 is a fairly weak secondary console. I'd go as far as saying that the only quality exclusive is Bloodborne.

To be fair though, if you don't own a PC, you're better off with a PS4 than an Xbox 1.

Im not disappointed at all. In my eyes, xbox doesnt have much to offer either and this years exclusives destroy it. Exclusives dont make a console anyways, we have access to all third party console games like call of duty, witcher, GTA, etc at higher performance with an excellent controller and solid online as well as a larger library of titles. VR is on the way, an optional more powerful ps4 is too. I dont see how i could be disappointed now

I recently used mine to play Battleborn. Before that, I haven't touched the system for months. What made it worse is the controller trigger now sticks and I don't even use the the darn thing.

I agree on the PS4 being highly disappointing. All the hype is obnoxious. You walk into Best Buy, Toys R Us, or Walmart and I always see a much bigger selection for Xbox One games. Yet PS4 is outselling. I believe Xbox One will gain ground. Microsoft is a U.S. company, and I'd much rather spend my money on a U.S. product. (Sure it has foreign parts, but still). I enjoy the Xbox exclusives more. I'll catch flack for this from PS fans, but I would honestly take Halo and Gears of War exclusives over the overrated and crappy Killzone and God of War games any day. Lastly, for all of the new PS fans... Guarantee most were original XBox and 360 users who just got on the bandwagon because Sony got off to the hottest start. I admittingly was angry with Microsoft for the 360 failures and got a PS4, but I'm bored to tears with it. The Xbox One seems to have righted the ship, so I'm going back to Xbox.

i can offer you some suggestions?

after over two years after release name a decent exclusive other than bloodborne that's really worth having?

psn plus connection speeds / transfer rates are third world speeds. the online store sells digital games for nearly double the retail cost. the standard hd can fit a handful of games on it before you have to uninstall to make room for others. or pay out extra for a 2tb+ hd that should've come as standard.

and oh great a new "optional" playstation is already on the way. i'm sure we're all looking forward to shelling out another £400 for a console that'll render our current ps4s obsolete, but the bright side is we'll then be able to pick up their new vr headset, just a snip at £350. and of course many of us will also have to shell out for a new tv / monitor to get those sweet sweet 4k resolutions the new console supports. so that's well over a grand just to keep my console up to date. and if i don't buy the new console i can't use their new vr headset even if i wanted to buy it.

and all this whilst the value of my current ps4 plummets faster than people's expectations for the order 1886 did when the first reviews hit. and if i don't upgrade will i really be able to pick up new games and fully enjoy them knowing i'm getting a second rate experience despite owning a console that's barely two years old?

jesus i've just depressed myself lol

@Macutchi: "after over two years after release name a decent exclusive other than bloodborne that's really worth having?"

Disgaea 5, Guilty Gear -Revelator-, TearAway: Unfolded, & N++. All of which are not just reviewed well but are very liked within the gaming community.

Also; most of which I had more fun than Bloodborne. And this is coming from someone who's sunk 150+ hours into BB and has a character in NG plus 6 (and currently playing DkSIII). Not to mention they're just the exclusives that I like.

Seems to me you only really follow what you're told is good otherwise cling to the past and blame the future. Why is this a common theme in GS forums?

Depressing indeed.

@Macutchi: Sad that a question brought out slander to your previously overly depressing comment. Really you should have expected worse from that rant_

If all you want is "System sellers" perhaps don't use Bloodborne as an example at anycase.

Disgaea 5 is already close to 3 million and came out on the other-side of the year compared to Bloodborne which hasn't hit 2.5 yet. Despite your ignorant opinion, the Disgaea franchise sells very well considering they're budget games. Not to mention the original is a well-known classic.

But even then, sales or popularity shouldn't be a factor for personal enjoyment which goes back to that quote of mine you disliked. Did you always phrase "system sellers" in the past generations of gaming for personal enjoyment in this hobby? Oh wait, dick question :/ Perhaps we should all stop typing and take your upcoming bluster as the only words worth of value.

Maybe you should take a step back and consider that your own opinion might be ignorant. You seem awfully butthurt over the fact someone else has formed their own opinion and that it doesn't align itself with your own.

@Macutchi: I personally liked Infamous: Second Son, The Order: 1886(check my review here), and if you haven't played them on the PS3, Uncharted Collection and The Last of Us. And of course, 1 more month until Uncharted 4 comes out. If you have a PS4 and need something new to play, you'll find some entertainment value in any of those.

yeah thanks dude i have 20+ hard copy ps4 games and i'm looking forward to uc4 and several other exclusives this year. your order 1886 review makes me want to dust off my copy and give it another go. my earlier post was a bit of a play devil's advocate kind of post, mainly because i'll admit i'm not too thrilled that sony are releasing another console with potentially twice the hardware capabilities so soon after the ps4 launch. the future of my current ps4 feels a bit up in the air.

I'm using mine as Fromsoftstation 4, and i'm loving every second of it. Souls and Bloodborne. Everything else i play on PC.

Not most people would think my utilizing of it to be good value, but i consider those games absolute masterpieces, so for me it has been well worth it.

@mpmarcovichpt: The console upgrades HAVEN'T been confirmed. In fact Phil Spence all but confirmed it wasn't happening this gen.

They will have suggested it in a meeting and looked at the idea of it. Nothing else.

@suicidesn0wman: Don't know how I'd be butthurt if someone thinks Bloodborne is the only game worth of value on PS4, that itself is ignorant. Not to mention him claiming it's a System-seller when it's far from being one, is also ignorant. Heck FROM is overly pleased it even reached 2 Mill.

Not to take anything away from Bloodborne, it's a fantastic game. However, if you hold your ears and sing through the rest the console has to offer, that's yours/ or in this case 'his' problem.

My reply comes across as harsh because the running meme/ old marketing slogan of 'greatness awaits' is reserved for troIIs. & shouldn't be taken seriously.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/691087-playstation-4/73162868 (yeah I'm a GFAQ member as well lol)

Both lead consoles have already reached decent merits with software, and we should embrace what's present and coming. Not dismiss the games because 'oh looks niche' and 'that's not what these internet guys are telling me to buy.' <Not exact quotes but I'm assuming you get the point_

My question that upset him, also was to hopefully bring closure to just how overly negative the majority of the GS users are.

Is that me being butthurt? If you still think so, I recommend looking up the definition. I'm just making sure anyone who's interested in a current gen console isn't misinformed. Claiming what is and isn't a System seller, isn't an opinion, a 'Sytem seller' is based upon sales (sold units), not ones thought, and in this case a naive one.

Only issue I find with my previous posts is I may come across as mean. Which isn't entirely my intention but gets the message across if phrased in-such-a-way.

If he at least gave a good reason why all those games are not worth the time of day. this conversation may have panned out differently. But I have no issue with what was posted on my behalf.

Happy gaming

the irony of you claiming i'm ignorant when i said neither of those things lol.

after over two years after release name a decent exclusiveother than bloodborne that's really worth having?

nowhere in that sentence does it say bloodborne is the only game "worth of value on ps4" or that it's a system seller. but don't let that stop you from galloping off on your high horse.

if we overlook the fact that you were the one who insulted me first

Seems to me you only really follow what you're told is good otherwise cling to the past and blame the future. Why is this a common theme in GS forums?

which is why the conversation panned out the way it did. idiot

Yes PS4 is a bit light on exclusives and if you already have PC for multiplats then there isn't much reason to game on PS4 much, unless you prefer to game on it for some reason.

Makes sense when you consider the longer dev cycles for games. "Must have" games tend to be AAA and quality AAA games tend to take at least 3 years to develop. They're coming...

@Macutchi: :3 Oh you_

Thanks for showing how willing to be mature you are. If you fancy troIIing? I recommend System-Wars if you plan to hold onto bitterness.

Otherwise continue your hissy-fit. Whatever helps you sleep at night. Though, less spam is always welcome.

That's one of the reasons I haven't yet bought one. I'm happy with my PC but I'm considering getting one since enough exclusives are coming out now. Between PS4 and X1 though the PS4 is definitely the way to go. If the PS4 is lacking exclusives the X1 is completely deserted.

I dunno... I expected to only play a few games on it when I bought it.....

I actually boxed that thing up after BloodBorne since it was collecting so much dust, but to my surprise I've been thinking of getting it back out to play Ratchet & Clank. There is also Disgaea 5.....
