PS4 is already OBSOLETE

Not even 3.5 years ago the PS4 was released, and here we are looking at a console which is already severely OBSOLETE. The DECAY of modern consoles has steadily increased to the point where it hardly makes sense to buy the 1st model due to how quickly they are being updated (pro, slim, scorpio, etc). This is sad, because my little brother, Nero, had PS4 on his wishlist as a birthday gift, but I had to force him to DELETE it due to just how dated it has become.

Will this annoying trend of mid generation updates continue? What's the point of even buying a PS4 anymore?

@Evo_nine: Xbox One S isn't the base Xbox One. TC is bashing the base PS4 which whooped the OG Xbox One.

I only regretted getting my PS4 because like just a few months later we got all that Neo/Pro talk, had I known I would have held out just a bit longer to get the beefier machine. Obsolete? Maybe, only in the sense that it doesn't make that much sense to get a vanilla PS4 now with the PS4 Pro on the market.

I can wait a bit before upgrading, don't even have a 4K UHDTV with HDR yet, was about to splurge on one since there were good sales on them these last few weeks but I thought I'd hold out until I get my Scorpio, plus I imagine if I splurged on a TV now and hate myself later when OLEDs get cheaper that I didnt just wait then too.

Plus, fingers crossed, I hope at this year's E3 we hear about revisions to the Pro design, maybe a better and cheaper designed model with an UHD 4K Blu-ray drive built into it. But, also hopefully one more aesthetically pleasing in its design, and with better and quieter airflow. I can probably do without the UHD 4K BR drive but hopefully if they do a revision it includes a better look and better and quieter heat management.

PS4 has the best line up of games this generation, easy. PS4 is more relevant now than ever before with its exclusives.

Nope...I've been playing several awesome ps4 games lately. I've also got a Xbox One S but never touch it! I've not purchased 1 uhd movie as the prices can be way too high. Give me a standard blu ray and upscale it to 4k and I'm fine!

I have a 1000 dollar pc and the PS4 still gets almost equal amount of my attention when it comes to gaming. And yes it's a gaming pc.

Try harder, Ps4 is literally exceptional and it's only going to be getting better. Can't wait for Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza 6, WiLD, God of War, Spider-Man, etc fucking etc.

PC gaming made me cheap though so a lot of games I am waiting for a sale for that aren't named Persona 5, Yakuza, or Ni no Kuni 2.

I have a PC but I doubt I will stop using PS4. PS4 exclusives + some multiplats I just feel better getting on consoles because I've been getting them on consoles all the time (Assassin's Creed).

But in all seriousness, I doubt many people care as long as they can play their games on the PS4. The exclusives alone make a base PS4 worth it.

I can preorder any any game that's been announced (shadow of war, battlefront 2, god of war etc etc) and know that my day one PS4 will play them fine and I'll have a blast. So for me the PS4 is far from obsolete. Same with my X1. The only difference on pro or Scorpio is cosmetic and I can totally live with that and wait for the ps5 or whatever.

Consoles are all obsolete, nothing new here.

According to many people, PS4 has been obsolete since its specs were announced. It didn't stop it from getting over a thousand games, selling almost 60 million copies in 3.5 years, and its games from being praised by their graphics.

Not that i support mid gen systems, but it was already proved that Pro and Scorpio will not replace theoriginal models.

Does it really matter? Both Sony and MS has pretty much promised that you will be able to play all games release for that console on all versions of that same said console.

What would you expect? It's fixed hardware. It will be okay snowflake.

Sony and Microsoft have already iterated that the upgraded versions are mainly for elitist gamers who want more performance. Personally, the ps4 and Xbox One original versions perform just fine to me. With the upgraded versions using the same architecture, they are pretty redundant. Like putting ham over ham on a sandwich.

As for the rest of your rant, then just stick to your pc if it bothers you. Ps4 and Xbox One are doing just fine without you.

I don't have the time to be nitpicking on some hardware rather it's obsolete, I only care about playing awesome games on PS4 and nothing more.

If you have to buy a new console, then yes it's obsolete. Don't see any reason to buy a PS4, when you can buy the PS Pro for a bit more, with much more power

I think this thread is proof of how out of touch system wars is. All I see is people saying to get a PS4 Pro over PS4 Slim since the slim is useless now but the slim continues to outsell it by a huge margin.

Price always wins over power. You get to play the same games at a lower price. The majority of people don't care about resolution especially since you need a 4K TV to get the most out of it.

This is why Scorpio will be irrelevant to the mainstream as well. Even the Xbox One S will outsell it easily.

I think forum dwellers need a reality check. The PS4 Slim is currently the fastest selling home console in the world. The X1S will sell more than the Scorpio just the same. Check Amazon charts yearly, the Slim is in the top 20 and I think the Pro isn't even in the top 100.

That and PS4 just got one of the most visually impressive games ever made in Horizon. That doesn't happen with Obsolete technology. Both the X1 and PS4 will easily last the next few years.

To be honest, this isn't exclusive to just PlayStations. That's just how it is with every electronic device ever. From phones to televisions to cameras to anything electronic. Even when a new gadget is released, there's already plans to release a newer one making the current one already obsolete. But it is true that the PS4 is no match to the brute force of the Scorpio though. Sony will have to release a newer PS4, maybe even the PS5 if they want to compete with the almighty Scorpio console.

Both consoles were over 2 years behind on release and had new anti consumer practices, you would think people would of had the sense to avoid them.
