Horizon: Zero Dawn is a dope game. Pretty much my only response to this silly thread.
That is a perplexing paradox; the current graphics king is on obsolete hardware.
...right? At some point, I'm expecting something to back up this claim.
Are people still stupid and ignorant enough to believe the XBOX Scorpio and PS4 Pro can play a whole new class of game with their bad CPUs?
Obsolete in what way? Power? Yeah, but look at all the f*cks I give when I'm playing a bunch of AAAE
Games make consoles, not hardware
How about you stop making shitty threads, altboy?
Altboy? Which thread has been "shitty"? My threads are stimulating and unique.
If the PS4 is obsolete, what does that make the Xbox Box One?
Funny how anything negative about PS4 or Sony somehow brings the XBox or Microsoft into the conversation. lol!! I have yet to see a fanboy discuss something negative about their platform choice without bringing the competition into the discussion. It's pretty funny.
Oohh.. and no the PS4 isn't obsolete. My PS3 and XBox 360 aren't even obsolete yet and they aren't even on the market anymore.
Anyone who buy's a console for graphics over games are massive idiots. Nearly 4 years in and still there morons refusing to play good games because of there hardware as most in this thread shows.
Swear gamers get dumber every year...
Aside from the fact that the Scorpio is obsolete on launch, and the very notion of a console being "obsolete" while games are still being released on it being absurd, let me address one of the even dumber things you said.
What's the point of even buying a PS4 again?
Uncharted 4, Ratchet and Clank, Killzone Shadowfall, Horizon Zero Dawn, Bloodborne, Drive Club, Persona 5, Yakuza 0, Infamous, Until Dawn, Dragon Quest Builders, Gravity Rush 2, The Last Guardian, Nioh, Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 Remix/ Kingdom Hearts 2.8, MLB The Show, Wipeout, The Order 1886... Upcoming it has The Last of Us 2, Days Gone, Detroit: Become Human and God of War.
The Xbox has... Halo 5 Guardians, Forza 6 and Horizon 3, ReCore, Master Chief Collection, Sunset Overdrive, Rare Replay, Upcoming it has the inevitable Halo 6, Forza 7, Crackdown 3, Sea of Thieves. Scalebound was canceled so that's gone.
The whole point to buying a game console is to play games. The PS4 has far more games to play. The Scorpio may outperform the PS4 Pro for multiplats, but is that performance worth getting a library with less than 1/5th the exclusive games? It's not like the PS4 or PS4 Pro versions of Battlefield and Call of Duty are going to run at 30 fps while the Scoprio version runs at 60fps.
Are you one of those delusional fanboys that think that Microsoft is sitting on 5-6 must-have exclusives right now that we'll see at E3? They couldn't even get that shitty version of Fable on the Xbox One. Their first party situation is a nightmare to say the least. More Halo and Forza is all you can be guaranteed.

I think this gen has shown that exclusives don't matter too much. Even when the Xbox One had a stellar lineup while the PS4 was sparse, Sony's console still sold on the back of 'better looking' 3rd party games. The Scorpio will be the multi-plat console of choice by FAR. Exclusives are just a bonus. Lets face it, The Scorpio has the 'exclusive' on native 4K gaming.

What? That's absolutely ridiculous.
First off the Xbox One's lineup was mediocre at best. Forza 5 (niche), Dead Rising 3 (also niche), and Ryse (terrible) are not a strong lineup to appeal to the masses. You're also ignoring the fact that Microsoft shot themselves in the foot badly before launch. Remember this?
That alone probably sank the Xbox One's ship before it even set sail. Absolutely massive PR blunder that bogged the entire Xbox One down with terrible amounts of misinformation before launch. It was a disaster.
To make that disaster complete was launching at $500 with it's competition, that has no problem with used games or trading games, at $400. Smart Microsoft.
So no. You're wrong. Better looking 3rd party games don't mean shit. What matters is exclusives.
Last generation Microsoft not only had a better launch than Sony, it had a several month headstart and a lower price point overall. It also had a lot more exclusives than the PS3 did well into the PS3's launch. The PS3 also gained the reputation for having worse off 3rd party exclusives. Literally everything that could go wrong with the PS3 had. However, halfway through the generation, Microsoft started putting all of the focus on promoting 3rd party exclusives rather than pumping money into their first party studios. They had a few franchises, primarily Halo, Gears, and Forza, but they were not getting any new IPs. Sony, on the other hand, pushed hard with first party titles and had a lot of new exclusives worth playing halfway through the gen. The PS3 ended up outselling the Xbox 360 worldwide after coming back from a massive deficit, all because of those games and the lack of Microsoft's must-have games.
This gen the Xbox One's lineup has been horrible. So not only did it sink in port before launch, it has had very few quality exclusives to its name. Halo, Gears, and Forza aren't bringing new fans onto the platform. Sony meanwhile has had a number of new IPs exclusive on their console this gen, while wrapping up some last gen franchises. They also have more new IPs on the horizon while Microsoft has Crackdown 3. Yay.
Having the better 3rd party titles doesn't mean squat. People aren't dumb. When they are on the internet they can see which games are creating the buzz. The Last Guardian, The Last of Us 2 (just the announcement created a crap ton of buzz), Bloodborne, Horizon Zero Dawn. All PS4 exclusives. When they go to buy a console, they are going to be A) more likely to buy the platform their friends already have B) buy the platform with more exclusive games that they've heard about.
Average consumers rarely give a shit about what platform plays multiplats the best. They never have. This is some dumb System Wars meme.
Exclusives and hype matter. Multiplatforms only matter if the game is on the console and runs well enough (bad ports = bad PR). Most people see a game they want to play and they google if that game is on the platform they own.
If the best multiplats mattered, the consoles would be dead and everybody would game on the PC.

I think it might be too much soon for 4K on a console. Honestly, I believe this kind of hardware upgrade should have been reserved for a new generation of consoles. I felt the same way about the PS4 Pro. Since both the base models and the enhanced models are supposed to be able to play the same games, there's too few reasons to pay more for the extra features and it's why I never both to upgrading my Launch PS4 and zero reasons picking up Scorpio. My high-end PC is all I really need.
Not even 3.5 years ago the PS4 was released, and here we are looking at a console which is already severely OBSOLETE. The DECAY of modern consoles has steadily increased to the point where it hardly makes sense to buy the 1st model due to how quickly they are being updated (pro, slim, scorpio, etc). This is sad, because my little brother, Nero, had PS4 on his wishlist as a birthday gift, but I had to force him to DELETE it due to just how dated it has become.
Will this annoying trend of mid generation updates continue? What's the point of even buying a PS4 anymore?
Yet Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the best looking games this generation even on the OG PS4.
Too many AAAE games to worry about, but you find time to make countless threads in your limited time.

Another mind-numbingly boring alt spamming hate at PS4 I wish they would bring that rule back to stop morons like this one spewing absolute drivel all over the forum. I bet MS are paying this boring fuckwit to do this come on mods do your job ffs.

Uh, yeah it does =w=
It won't have as high of resolution and frame rate but it certainly looks fucking gorgeous.
lol So many people think the Scorpio is going to be this revolutionary piece of tech. It's not. It's already obsolete. What will kill the console will be the price tag and the lack of games. Microsoft is making the same mistakes Sony made with the PS3 - higher price, releasing the console late, lack of games etc.
Sony at least was able to get its shit together and fight back hard with their first party line-up. Their horrible experience with the PS3 was what made them lead this generation. They know EXACTLY what people want - games. The difference between the Xbox One reveal and the PS4 reveal is like night and day. For every blunder Microsoft made, Sony made adroit moves. Let's not forget all the lies about Kinect 2.0 being integral to the system and thus cannot be removed. Despite all these failures, Microsoft still hasn't learned their lesson. They are trying to focus on tech instead of games, which is why they'll lose.
Get your shit together, Microsoft. Focus on making new IPs. Focus on making good games.

You serious, or do you hate Sony that much?
You know what's not obsolete? Quality exclusives. Therefore, Sony wins.
/thread
Most of them no one gives a damn
Desperate aye?
The exclusives outside of many the digimon games are selling pretty well.
Persona 5 topped the charts and Horizon sold like hotcakes.
I believe yakuza 0 sold more than any yakuza in the west before.
Nier Automata sold well.
Gravity Rush 2 sold well
Nioh sold well
Where are these exclusives that most people don't give a damn about? Or by most do you mean the people on both consoles who only play fifa and cod every year? Why should we give a damn about them if the games sell enough to be justified and profitable?
I personally bought the ps4 to enjoy the games, looks like you bought the xbox one because it was popular last gen. (360), How did that work out for you fanboy?

PS4 never really had a weaker lineup than xbox one, the xbox one strategy is that they sell all their games late year and then trout out like they have the best gaming lineup ever. Like you won't see a game till october or something and then all of a sudden: "Quantum break now, gears in a month, forza the month after that, this is the best lineup yet"
While PS4 had stuff throughout.
Halo 5 is okay, Forza is pretty good, ReCore was kind of averagey/meh, Master Chief Colleciton was broken, Sunset Overdrive is decent, Rare Replay is a bunch of old games, Halo 6 won't come out till 18 or something, forza will keep coming out of course, crackdown 3 and sea of thieves are whatever, scalebound was cancelled so it shouldn't be in the list as you said.
It's also weird how you count rare replay and master chief collection and not the remasters of ps4 games, games like:
God of War Remastered, The Nathan Drake Collection, Gravity Rush Remastered, The Last of Us Remastered, Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition, Heavy Rain, Teraway Unfolded, etc etc.
You also missed a lot of ps4 games, the current lineup is more like.
Also you forgot games like Alienation, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, Resogun, Nier Automata, The King of Fighters XIV, World of Final Fantasy, Digimon World: New Order, etc etc. (and there ARE a lot more you missed for ps4)
For upcoming exclusives you forgot Nex Machina, MatterFall, Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza 6, Spider-Man, Death Stranding, Dreams, WiLD, Deep Down, Earth Defense Force 5, Gran Turismo Sport, Knack 2, New Hot Shots Golf, Nights of Azure 2, Nathan Drake: The Lost Legacy, etc fucking etc. Especially considering console exclusives count for the xbox oner. -w- Both ps4 lists would be bolstered 1000x over.

I think the problem is comparing well optimized PS3 titles that were released near the end of it's lifespan, to early generation PS4 titles where developers were still not utilizing anywhere close to the full potential of the system.
I'll admit when I first saw the PS4 and the games available in the first year, I was pretty underwhelmed. That being said, the Cell architecture was so notoriously difficult to develop for, I think Sony probably released the PS4 a bit earlier than they would have liked, in order to keep their developers happy.
Usually when a new console launches, it can push out graphics that rival, and sometimes even beat a high end PC, at least for a few months, until PC catches up, and surpasses it.
When PS4 launched, I felt like 2 year old PCs were already comparable.

No, I hate graphics whores that think all of Sony's First Party games are graphics kings without them seeing anything on the PC.

As a member of the PC master race, I have to disagree with this statement.
While it's a matter of opinion whether or not Horizon is the BEST looking game released to date, there's no denying it looks amazing, especially considering the hardware that it runs on.
I would say HZD probably looks better than about 98-99% of the games that are available on PC.
No, I hate graphics whores that think all of Sony's First Party games are graphics kings without them seeing anything on the PC.
Even PC elitists are impressed by Horizon's visuals, so nice try. Let me know when you actually play Horizon on a nice 1080p or 4K set.

Even though we were just comparing HZD's graphics to the PC..... mmkay.
You give PC users a bad name.
"Obsolete"? Why would video game enthusiasts even use such a term? I still play games on my NES and Super Nintendo. Good games do not become "obsolete". That is tech nerd talk for people who don't actually understand good video games. That's some real "master race" level of stupidity and hate for quality video games. Hardware does not make a game good but it's like talking to a wall with some of you.
It's DELIGHTFUL to read this thread and see all of the people that are taking this thread too seriously and not understanding the meme.

Along time ago, NVIDIA redefined PC's flagship GPU TDP and GPU chip size i.e. GTX 8800 and game consoles couldn't match PC's flagship GPU TDP and GPU chip size.

I agree 110%. Scorpio makes PS4 look like sack of poop in comparison. You know the kind of poop sack you light fire to before leave on door step for lols. Except it is not even cool enough to be the flaming bag of crap.
Yep that is the PS4, a bag a fecal matter festering for years only existing to make sure Xbox Won? Get it? Microsoft had a crystal ball when they picked the name.
the way i saw consoles was both ps4 and xbox one were obsolete at launch. Very few of their games could do proper 1080p 60 fps gameplay. Ps4 pro is a bit better here but still a gimp with its fake 4k and subpar 1080p.
Xbox Scorpio will be the first console to not be obsolete at launch, it will be able to hit proper 60 fps gameplay, but the price will be extreme and probably be a big problem for people to get into it right away. Only technical turd in the console is the cpu, its not much better than the last gen consoles.
Did you lems not learn anything from Xbox vs PS2 ?
The PS4 will continue to sell the most, because it has the momentum and games. That's what wins console wars
Shame you dweebs cant see that, but hey I'm glad lol. *grabs popcorn*

My my my. You refuse to even ellaborate on yourself and just want to shovel popcorn down your throat. PS4 will sell the most because consumers can not realize that Xbox One is not literally the first Xbox. Microsoft should release video talking really slow to everyone that bought PS4 saying Xbox One is our NEXT GENERATION SYSTEM YOU STUPID MOTHER FUCKERS!
Why even buy a system you do not research first is beyond my thinking. Clearly the PS4 sales are bullshit because of this fact.
