PS4 online blocked in several countries

To play devil's advocate (a poor mans devil advocate at that) some of those grey areas aren't really a huge loss I would think for MS. Some I can see being very stupid but in general the gaming population I would wager isn't very high in some of those areas. Could be wrong though, South Africa could be, like, the biggest gaming country on the planet and I wouldn't know a damn thing about it.

Those with exsisting PSN+ will continue with the same service on PS4, right?

I live in Malta and have a PSN+ (UK account) and never had any issues :)  (i also have Italian & US accounts and been enjoying the service for the past years and playing online with PS3)..

Guess something similar will continue on PS4 !!

Yeah thats what i thought and for new PS4 owners they can create an overseas account since all that matters is owning a proper/valid VISA card and you're set !!

Dont see any problems here but it would be nice for Sony to tackle this situation even if these countries combined together offer a relatively small market..

That doesn't cover everything. You need an internet connection for the initial setup and the Xbox Ones online infrastructure will only be online in 21 countries at launch. Microsoft needs to clarify whether or not if you import a console can you actually connect for the setup in one of the non supported countries.

:lol: This is weak ownage even by your weaksauce standards Timbers. These are the countries that won't have access to PS4 online at launch: Bahrain, Lebanon, Romania, Oman, Slovakia, Malta, Cyprus and Iceland.

 

Compared to M$ that is blocking out the whole of Asia, the whole of Africa and majority of Eastern Europe and South America. To top it off if you live in a country where the XB1 is supported and don't have a strong internet connection you'll still be blocked.

 

EDIT: I also forgot PS4 is not region locked. Which means you can make an account in a different country if your country doesn't have a store. Tsk....tsk... Timbers, you fail hard yet again.
