"hardcore"
What are we pornstars now? :|
It's too early to tell which console manufacturer will be focused more on the casual market, because the market has changed drastically since last gen. Yes M$ has released more casual offerings but who knows if they'll release a ton of core games next gen. And Sony, who finished dead last, may jump on the bandwagon.. it's just too soon for a question like this. I honestly hope it caters to both.
[QUOTE="Jankarcop"]LOL!! There are actually MORE casually playing PC games then there are playing console games. There will be plenty of games for hardcore games on consoles. Why do you least most of the hardcore game sales are higher on console?PC by a large margin, then PS4/xbox720 tied, then another huge gap for WiiU.

PC has the most competative/hardcore games, requiring the highest skillcap, by a large margin over consoles (twitch fps, rts, moba, arena mmorpg). Yes it also has more casual players, but that is because it has more gamers in general...alot more.
Will there even be a PS4?

Junk status is pretty much a death sentence in the investment world, and unless Sony liquidates some of their assets, I'm not sure how they're going to acquire the operating capital to fund the development, production, and advertisement of the PS4.
They'll probably find a way, I'm sure, but if gamers think the PS4 is going to be some powerhouse with a high frontend manufacturing cost that Sony will have to wait a decade before they can sell it at a profit, they're kidding themselves.
Any of them will be hardcore depending on how you play them. My grandmother plays her iPad for a mininum of 3 hours a day, best gift we ever got her. She's probably more hardcore than half this forum.
Call me a fanboy but Halo 5 and 6 will be on the new XBOX system so that's what I'm getting. Also, I'd be willing to bet that it will be cheaper than buying a PS4, as buying an island made of gold is more affordable than a Sony system at launch. I really hope it isn't called the 720, I just think that's a really weak, and stupid name. There aren't enough Sony exclusives for me to justify getting a Sony system when all other titles will be released on XBOX. I don't really care which one has better graphics, as long as Microsoft doesn't force me to use Kinect on every game, I'll be getting their new system.

Well, he has a point.
Consoles are mainly ment for kids and families and for people who rather watch games than play them, hence "causal gaming".
When I hear the word "hardcore gaming" I usually think of competitive gaming and competitive gaming is the strongest on the PC these days with games like DOTA, LoL, StarCraft, ect.
Only games on consoles that compare would be fighting games (not all, as for example the Mortal Kombat series are viewed upon as "broken trash" by the fighting game communities) and shooters like Halo and CoD, but those are played with tumbsticks which offer much less precision than a mouse and are generally seen as "noob friendly" among the shooter experts.
PC also has much more complex games like flight sims (DCS, FSX), mil sims/tactical shooters (Arma, RO), racing simulators ("proper" racing sims, not "arcadey" ones like on the consoles), space sims (the upcomming Star Citizen), deep strategy games (Total War series), ect.
So of course, for any serious hardcore gamer, the PC should be priority.
I think some people have a different view of "hard core gamer" then what it really is..Hard core gaming isnt what you play a game on OR even what game you play. Its about how well you know the industry, how long and how well you know a game, how many years youve put into gaming. Keeping up with everything..its not about pc vs console vs handheld..at all...
Well like I said - my interpretation of "hardcore gaming" is competitive, tough and/or complex games.
Of course you can also master a "casual" game like Angry Birds or Tetris.
For example this Tetris player is most clearly hardcore:

[quote=""]"Its hard to say right now. I do not think well have a console with a lot better graphics than the PS3 currently offered. I believe the future will be to offer consumers better and more accessible experience. The aim will be to make more people enter the world of video games and try to design titles for women."
