What would really be funny if all this were true. -RenegadeLogic wise it can't be.

[QUOTE="sandbox3d"][QUOTE="WilliamRLBaker"] giving it that much also guarantees it costing over 2000 dollars.Inconsistancy
Honestly you can get good RAM cheap these days. A 24 gig ranges from about 150 - 250 bucks. Thats 24 gigs at a consumer price. Mass producing consoles with 20 gigs would bring that cost down significantly.
Still though, its obviously BS. Even 6, or 8 gigs would be overkill for new consoles. I would welcome it with open arms, but its not likely. I'm hoping for 4 gigs realistically.
8 would be perfectly in-line with all other generations of Sony consoles.. I don't think it'd be overkill. Its typically a 4x increase though, right? I thought it was, could be wrong though. But if so, then 2gb would be the next logical step. 8 gigs would be a 16x jump. I really don't think we'll see more than 4gb tbh. Even 2, or 3 would be expected.

The average is 16x, not 4. Mid-gen consoles, such as the N64/Xbox, fall in the 32x generally; weighing in at 4mb and 64mb respectively.
Anyone who believes this is a fool!
Oh yeah PS3 fanboys! :D

And there are some fools in this topic! Believing it is bad enough. Turning around and calling the rest of us butt hurt and jealous is just classic.
It seems every gen goes like this though. In the beginning rumors start dropping and even real specs start leaking and people that know nothing at all about hardware end up being the most vocal. They go on and on as if there is some sort of wizardry powering these new machines. As if one of these companies somehow figured out how to make supercomputers cost efficient and then decided to waste that discovery on gaming consoles alone.
They start buying into what these companies tell them and then blend it in with their own unrealistic dreams. The results are loud mouthed walking, talking piles of ignorance.
Then as the gen goes on some of these guys start to actually learn a thing or two about how it all works and start to realize they've been duped. For a brief period the average joe appears to be somewhat educated, or at least realistic regarding their thoughts on hardware.
Then the vicious cycle starts all over again. I cant wait till Sony starts reving up the PR. They'll have some fancy sounding name for their processor and idiots will eat it all up. Always funny to watch.
"PS4 will be capable of Avatar quality visuals!"
I would be willing to bet money that somebody from Sony will say that in the next couple of years.

Hey, good to know then. I'm not even sure what I was thinking of. I'm stil hesitant on believing we'll see 8gb, but if so then awesome and you're right it would fall in line with past trends.

22nm?
Both GoFlo's and TSMC's next fab node is 20nm NOT 22nm.
ronvalencia
In terms of nm process nodes, they are applicable for GoFlo and TSMC fabs i.e. 22nm node will not be used.
AMD's process road map mirrors thier partner fabs's road maps.
PS, Intel has 22nm process node.
you missed the edit numnuts and they are using 22nm in arm as of this year... you really need to do better researchedit: i got to do some better research, the article I read was from 2009 saying they were aiming to ship 22nm for arm in 2012
http://www.globalfoundries.com/technology/advanced_tech.aspx
they're 22/20 is still in research but just because it isn't spelled out on the road map doesn't mean 22nm doesn't exist. Also if you dig into their press releases they mention when they release the 20 LPM they'll have a 22 SHP

The word is spectra, not spectrums, as any sixth grader would know. This would not appear on any official document b) Market, players... so the two are separate entities? c) The entire sentence reads like the ramblings of a hopeful fanboy.. 'PS4 will conquer and please.' Give me a break it's a sex machine.
