It's a sizeable increase in resolution, but the reality is that Pro users still only get a 1440p output and it's hard to believe that native 4K couldn't have been achieved bearing in mind Square's own excellent work with its Kingdom Hearts remasters, all of which have not only achieved ultra HD resolution on Pro - but run at 60fps as well on both PlayStation 4 systems. The Zodiac Age is a 30fps title on both base PS4 and PS4 Pro.
SE doing a lazy job of porting a FF game wouldn't exactly be unheard of

You think that's because Disney has standards?
@BlackShirt20: You sound silly. It's up to the developers. 1080p is just fine for a PS2 game that came out in 2005. The Witcher 3, Uncharted 4, and Horizon Zero Dawn say hi, though lol
Justifies one of my reasons I cancelled my pre-order for this game. Going to wait for a few months for the price drop, ain't paying £30.
Just from reading the headline my first impression is "sounds like a crap port".

@ProtossRushX: But it doesn't. And upping the resolution to 1440p (2K) is not hard and it would not take much to increase the resolution to reach native 4K. But they didn't. Because optimizing the game to get it to run stable in native 4k is the difficult part. Mainly because it wasn't capable of running 4K without really optimizing the settings to get it to run smoothly.
@BlackShirt20: Brute method is to combine GPU power increase with matching memory bandwidth increase.

1440p is not 2k lol. You don't know what you're talking about.
That sucks, but it's obviously an SE issue. Regardless, I only have a 1080p TV/Pro at the moment, so i'm good.
What surprises me is that people expect good SE ports... The PC has some shite that they've released (XIII).
Ah yes, the game that launched at 720p and would automatically quit if you hit escape
I hope I'm doing this right.
A)Is it because the X1X is weak sauce?
B)Nintendo is doomed?
C)The PS4 is awaiting greatness?
D)All of the above?
If you want proof of how terrible SW has become, let this thread show you why.
FFXII (The best FF imo) gets a remaster with all of the content from what used to be Japan-only expansions. The game releases to universal positive reception on PS4, but the only thread on SW is about how it isn't in 4K. It makes me wonder if anyone on this forum actually plays and/or cares about video games. This thread is the lowest of the low.

It will be ignored because ignoring this fits the overarching narrative of SW.

Final Fantasy 12 remaster is more complex than Kingdom Hearts remasters.
IF Final Fantasy 12 Remaster goes overboard with alpha effects, it's memory bandwidth bound gimps PS4 Pro.
Thoughts?
It's not a remake, it's a remaster. Sigh, do you people ever learn the meaning of the words you throw around?
Man! Someone gets it. It's not that hard to tell the difference, y'kno lol

And you're basing this off what evidence exactly?
@pyro1245: engine, literally everything in gamelogic tied to framerate, so it would need a remake more or less
@pyro1245: engine, literally everything in gamelogic tied to framerate, so it would need a remake more or less
....yeah... I still can't believe people do that. It's not necessary at all. Just have to keep track of time and animation frames. Boom: animations untethered from frame rate.
I guess if you're programming on a console it doesn't matter.... until you re-release it.
For all those saying its just lazy dev work, we'll see if we get the same response from you when a game ships in XB1 X that isn't native 4k. Hmmmm, doubt it.
@pyro1245: DF mention that its just the way the game is designed. the game logic is tied to the framerate. it was a very common practice for games back then and even early last gen (dark souls on the PC can have odd issues when the framerate is let loose for example).
fixing it would not be trivial. still its a very solid 30 which is fine for a FF game imho.

it's easier, that's why :E
Not too rare among Japanese devs who are mostly console centric

Yeah it'll be fine for the most part. It will probably just bug me a little when rotating the camera at first, not a big deal. FFX PC version still hasn't been able to be patched to 60fps either - I know some people were trying.
In before the "lazy dev" excuses from PS fans.
oops, too late.
another 1040p game? WTF? This old ass game?
So it is okay for Sony fans to blame this on lazy devs, but when a game will not run at 4K on Xbox One X it is not devs being lazy? Fanboys confuse the hell out of me.
