If you are buying a PlayStation 4 for the first time buy the PlayStation 4 Pro.
Buy neither a Pro or an X and wait for a console that can do 4K/30 consistently around the board with an optional 1080/60 mode. These refreshes are a bust. In the meantime, invest in a PC, and change out the parts you need at your own leisure.
Lol, you just described the Xbox One X. You are confused by the PS4 Pro because you think the X is similar.
The console that you are waiting for is already out. It's called the Xbox One X.
Can you show how the X delivers 4K/30 consistently in every game? And has a 1080p/60 mode option as well?
That has to be programmed in by the developers. Even the PS5 and next gen Xbox won't do it automatically. Unless he is expecting next gen consoles to be just like PCs so you can just change the resolution and move the sliders to the graphical settings of your choosing. Since consoles don't and won't be doing that in the foreseeable future, waiting for the PS5 because you think all games will automatically be programmed in some mode you want is absurd.
@Shewgenja: thats swell but the true 4k consoles probably won't happen for a few years. Pro and X are like testing the waters the next batch of consiles will be more solid hopefully

Okay? I just want a box strong enough do these settings should the devs want to do them. The 4k/30 and 1080/60 thing doesn't have to be locked in stone, just the benchmarks these consoles should strive for to keep them affordable. They're realistic for 2019/2020 or whenever PS5 should drop.
i'll only be playing a PS5 for exclusives anyway, but I want them to try the best they can.

But you said he's describing the Xbox One X like it already does what he wants...
