PS4 to be a repeat of the PS2 era?

Its very likely that the PS4 might be ahead of the gang this gen if the rumors of Kinectbox are dead on accurate. And with the Wii U's slow start, Sony will absolutely gain a wide lead from this.

PS4 will likely pull a Wii ---->  20 to 30 million lead.

But recreate the SlayStation 2's success?

Sony has been releasing plenty of Move games, but nobody says they are focused on casual because Microsoft fans arent that stupid.

Yes I paid for that timed exclusive content but Microsoft made that content available to 360 by paying for it. I dont want to wait for content for my favorite games that everyone else is already playing. Its a big plus in my book to have that stuff early.

If Microsft gets timed exclusive content for GTAV (which will probably be the case) my mind will already be made up which console to buy.

Except the PS2 had actual games in its library third and a decent frist that made it stand out.

Killzone 5 and Infamous 3 aren't really attention grabbers.

As enjoyable as that would be it's nothing more than a wish at this point.

I don't see the PS4 tearing the Japanese away from supporting handhelds as avidly as they do.

PS4 might get Sony to #1 again (if they play their cards right this time), but given today's development costs, game prices, and the resulting fear of game comapnies in general of deviating too much from the mainstream in these economic times (though there are pockets of creativity here and there), I doubt we'll see an era as glorious as PS2's from anyone anytime soon.

I love how cows said all gen "the PS3 is a supercomputer with teh cell, it dominates everything!" Now they are saying "the PS4 is going to be nothing like the PS3, its going to dominate everything!" Sony seems to have lost site of what good games are. All their games focus on cinematic presentation and they really have no understanding of how online networks are supposed to be. I have a hard time believing all the people that switched to Xbox this gen are going to switch back to Playstation.Miketheman83

Ps2 was a great, hell, it was the best console. There won't be a repeat though. why? Because the gaming industry has changed, developers have changed, gamers have changed, competition has changed, and all for the worst. Game quality has degraded (Not ALL, but most) Standards have been lowered & companies are more greedy.

After all the fears gamers had of nextgen (that it will turn to gimmicks fest focused on causals, chasing Wii pot of gold, etc.) Sony announced solid console focused solely on gamers, which will most likely be the most powerful one next gen as a bonus. Its a treat really and its no wonder all gamers hope it will succeed, cause if it fails it could very well be the end of (core) gaming as we know and love it.

that would be awesome. sony is hoping for that. but i kind of like the close competition.

Every gen is different and while the last (7th) gen did suffer from causailsation and turned its back on core gamers for a while, it eventually turned out not that bad thanks to awesome games like Demons Souls, Valkyria Chronicles, X-Com Enemy Unknown, Deus Ex Human Revolution, MGS4, Witcher series, etc. Additionally I feel like the age of causal corridor shooters is gone at last.

Next gen might actually turn out pretty well.

Its too early to tell. It's companies like Activision & EA who have no passion for the industry and care only for the money. Overpriced DLC and half-assed games disgust me. This gen was bad, although we did get some rare gems. I'm glad from what we saw at the PS conference that Sony is focusing on the core gamers (so far) because a gaming console plays games, that should be the first priority. I'll call it now, the next xbox will be more 'casual' focused or all kinect 2 intergration, but if thats where the money is, why wouldn't they go in that direction? I'm a PC gamer, but i respect Sony, and will always, for their quality and value.

Don't call be biased because I don't own a ps3 or 360, but have before.

1) Whats kiddy about Knack? It seems like very nice reboot of 3D puzzle platformers that a gamer of any age might enjoy. If the level desigm turns out to be clever, it might very well be an excellent game.

2) They keep the support of motion controller but they clearly dont focus on it. Also the camera or the touch pad doesnt seem to be their selling point.

3) I do know the CPU and GPU (as pretty much everyone does now - both are pretty good) and I dont know what you imagine under the term "system design".

4) I dont know anything for granted about nextbox but all the rumors (from reliable sources) say the same - that it wont be as powerfull as PS4 and it wont be even focused on core gaming.

Highly doubt it. Will they be better than PS3? I think so.

Sony needs to launch at a very affordable modest price. $400 is the least they go. Anything higher, Good Luck Sony :(

Both your first assumptions are false, so your conclusion is also false.

So they'l keep breaking ( DRE ) and Sony will refuse to fix or replace for free like MS did with RRoD so we'll all need to re-buy at least three PS4's? :o :twisted:
