So Kinect invented voice recognition now?
Spartan070
I don't get this either. Isn't Kinect about reading body movements?
I see voice recognition already all over the place, particularly in cell phones and cars. It's not MS tech, and definitely not Kinect.
People, people. The implications aren't about(for the fourth time) who invented what. It's about who made what standard and who is on their way to standardizing it. Who invented the tech is IRRELEVANT to the point.
If you want kudos from a Playstation 3 owner, I can give it. I really liked the voice recognition stuff the 360 was doing, particularly with Skyrim, but I was really impressed with the voice recognition stuff being used to communicate with the console on the XB1. That aspect was not done first on an xbox platform. It is a utility function moreso than a gaming one, and was made standard in phones for use in cars.
What I was talking about, what I don't like, is for voice recognition to be called Kinect because Kinect is total garbage. Kinect is motion sensing. It was brought to mass market to compete with the wii.
Even in this thread, the guy I was quoting was talking about motion gaming, when the issue was voice recognition. TC made a thread about voice recognition, and yet s/he suggests that Sony make a CAMERA standard.
This is the wii all over again. I hated the motion sensing, but loved the IR pointer. They aren't the same!
