PS5 can't do 4K120 from the Box

Understandable. 4K cables are expensive. Many people are still on 1080p.

I think most PS3 owners played with composite in the beginning. I remember games still having bigger text back then, at launch. I didn't get an HD display for it until much later.

You can do 4K/120 on HDMI 2.0b.

4K/120 @ 4:4:4/RGB Full 10 bit HDR? Nope. Still limited to 18Gbps and having to butcher quality to try and accommodate that bandwidth. That is before even factoring things like VRR, ALLM, eARC, etc. and trying to get those to work properly. So, let's be real.... HDMI 2.0b is not a viable option.

My TV came with a 2.1 cable. My PS4 is already hooked up with it. Now my PS5 will be hooked up with it. Pretty easy.

Also, a quick Google search shows various sources stating it comes with an HDMI 2.1 cable that's 1.5 meters long. My search also showed a blurb about XSeX's port... the HDMI 2.1 port on the system itself has a compatibility problem. I didn't bother reading the article.

When you compare budget sizes compared to AAA, then yes they are of a lower budget monetary wise. Literally. With that being said, I'm not saying that indie games are not of quality or fun at all. Ryse was a real shitty repetitive game to be honest.

I'm sorry but I'll gladly deal with a cable issue versus buying a console that's marketed as being next gen but can't do ray tracing on a last gen game like Devil May Cry AND can't hit 60FPS on PUBG after the company claimed that it could...

Yeah, that's not going to happen. Even with games that are many years old now, equivalent PC hardware struggles to get more than 40fps with ray tracing on 1080P. You can have 4K, you can have 120FPS, or you can have ray tracing... but you can only have one of those things at a time.

At this point we want to correct the spread of the misinformation regarding the HDMI 2.1 cable of the PS5. As Sony confirmed to GamePro.de, the cable is actually an HDMI cable that supports the 2.1 standard.

The general confusion arose from the fact that the PS5 cable that came with the package did not have the label "Ultra-High-Speed" specifically intended for HDMI 2.1 cables. The label should always be on a cable with 2.1 standard, according to an interview by Golem.de with the HDMI licensing marketing director Brad Bramy . Since only "High-Speed" was to be found here, we also assumed that HDMI 2.1 would not be supported without additional accessories.

John Linneman just posted this so it turns out the the cable is capable of 4k120 .. Sony could have avoided this confusion by labeling the cable properly. But here I will admit I was wrong
