I am actually mad how cheap it’s going to be because the PS5 is going to smoke my gaming laptop if the rumours are true on how powerful it is. My laptop cost me $1700.

2.Sony think number of users more important than console sales.

3.Sony is worried about Xbox's future pricing.

We have also known for a long time that X1 has more games playable on it than ps4, and xsx will start with that advantage, which is why even the most brainwashed Cow hasn't mooed "No games' for ages.

If it's $450 to make, looking at history it's probably going to be under $450. They are usually sold for a loss.

$500 PS5 is a good price if its can last at least 2 or 3 years. I mean there are people who spend more on a sport car and get into an accident and die on the next day. Would be great if PS5 last longer than 5 years like my old consoles at home. My PS3 super slim is 7 years old, Xbox 360 E is 5 years old, PS4 Pro is 3 years old, Xbox One S is 1 year old and Nintendo Wii U 4 years old. All of them is still working which is more than worth of what I spend on them....

True. In my country the latest Iphone can be as high as $1300 but a better specs Xiaomi Note 8 Pro is only $300. Been using Xiaomi since 2015. Tried using my sister Iphone many times and it feel the same as any other phone seriously...

PS4 production cost was around $381 and barely break even but Sony able to do record profit due to the fanbase buys game (1.15 billion ps4 sofware sold) more than other console maker. I think Sony can keep the price at $450 and recoup by selling software and service .

What he is talking there is about PSN+ and PSN now not about what MS is doing,and Sony already confirmed the PS5 will have exclusives contrary to the xbox.

Having spent 335 EURO for a brand new PS4 Pro 1 TB back in the day doesn't make me regret the purchase , I played all the sony exclusives worth playing , but I still didn't use it for more then 600 hours total gaming wise.

People need to face facts , PC gamers don't need consoles anymore since the exclusivity is out the window for future gens , the only game worth looking after was GodFall this GEN and since it was announced for the PC alongside PSN and IT being built from the ground up on a PC that pretty much says it all.

The casual crowd can go right ahead and buy as many ps5's as ever , im not buying sony's stuff anymore , also CEMU has all the nintendo switch goodness on the PC what's the point anymore ?

Why people think that you can get all of the damn tech inside the PS5 and sell it for $399,even if we end with a lower end RX5700 and a Ryzen,alone side expensive memory and ultra fast NVE drive should drive that cost considerably,let alone something stronger than the 5700.

Again people want powerful hardware but complain about price,the PS3 was priced cheap for what it had inside,so if this machine is $500 considering all it has inside it will be well priced.

It's pretty much sony going out of there way to get blu-ray and cell going while u have perfect replacements for that, that costs a fraction of the money and give you about the same results.

It's pointless. Specially when those boxes will be targeted anywhere for the low end spec solution. So what's the point. Not like uncharted devs can't make another uncharted on a weaker box.

Price is what matters, 399 was already steep specially with the 100 buck extra costs for online, game and another controller most likely if not more. that's 500 bucks. a ton of money for a lot of people.

Now they wanna slam another 100 above it? so they can validate a ssd drive they don't even remotely need, and there 4/8k resolution hunt that could simple be pushed on 1080p and put in half the gpu performance?

Is also worth noting that the only platform that sony has sold under a small loss or close to make money was the PS4,on all other platforms they have lose money and that was even before the days of charging for online play,so eating a small loss now is not a problem,but then again at $500 i think they still eating a small loss,i can't see a scenario were the PS5 have a RX5700XT less or even more and be $399 with an NVE drive that would probably be 1TB because on this day 500GB is nothing,and who knows if how much ram which is faster and more expensive as well i just don't see it.

Yeah like the majority of PC gamers care about hardware right? I guess that is why the 2080Ti has a 99% penetration on steam and 99% of PC gamers run its games in 4k ultra..

What media was close to blu-ray? In fact sony future proofed their media delivery,MS didn't which is why the xbox 360 is the console with the most games on multiple disk of any console even beating the PS1,when sony was making the PS2 they saw that CD wasn't cutting it as storage FF7 took 3 CD's in 2007 man,the PS2 release on 2000,in fact on launch some games on PS2 were CD,by the first year most were on DVD.

The same happen with DVD by 2005 sony already was using DVD dual layer so was MS,sony took measures to ensure games would not require 3 DVD,and guess what by 2006 the first xbox 360 game blu-dragon spammed across several disc.

Blu-ray was need it.

If you believe that the PS5 can get away with 5200rpm hdd like the PS4 you simply don't know what your talking about,and don't know what sony is trying to accomplish which is why MS is also doing the same,but i don't see you say anything about that.

The PS5 will not be a 1080p neither will be the xbox series X,those machines have GPU capable of 4k with much more easy than the xbox one X.

Meanwhile Nintendo offer a switch light which has no connection to TV in other words a $200 dollar portable is what you are getting.

I don't think the xbox or PS5 will be able to be sold under $500 on launch for the kind of hardware they have and both will be totally worth it from a hardware stand point of view.

I am probably missing something but who is expecting the PS5 to be $399? It seems more like Sony is trying to mitigate the price from being too high based on the current cost to produce, thus they are waiting on MS to announce their price preferable first.

With the focus on active users versus console sold, the higher price shouldn't matter.

HELOOOOOOO The xbox series X has DRAM and NAND chips as well,in fact it is say the xbox series X has more memory than the PS5 which would also mean more losses yet this is not mention.

So if sony is having problems because of DRAM and NAND prices so will MS,but again $500 should be good price for this machine,and i would be suprise highly if the series X can deliver for $500 as well considering it is say to have a bigger soc and more memory.

It used to be that with a new console came an upgrade in the games that was noticeable, with at least one launch title to justify it. I have seen nothing justifying the upgrade. Tech is useless without the software.
