PSN alone will soon generate* money more than all of Nintendo (per year).
Fixed. Saying something's worth is saying it's value. Which changes the statement completely. I don't like clickbait thread title.
I was thinking the same.
So wait...charging for online is a good thing now?
Its the cow double standard. When Xbox 360 did it the cows bitched and moaned endlessly about XBL because of the fee. Now that Sony has done it they all drop their pants and bend over.
I remember the outcry of Live here back in 05/06 when last gen was just getting started.
and you're right, cows just take it now, and they take it with a smile LOL
how things have changed
Good luck, cause right now Nintendo is worth more the Sony. And thats Sony as a whole, not Playstation.
SONY's market cap is low due to unprofitable divisions.
I guarantee you that PSN alone is making SONY far more money than everything Nintendo is doing combined.
I dont care what you think, right now, Nintendo is worth more the Sony as a whole. But good luck to Sony, with VR and PS4.5K they might make progress. Or...they might not.
SONY can spin-off the PlayStation division and its marketcap would dwarf Nintendo's.
No one cares about SONY's finance and movie divisions. This is about gaming.
sony's finance division is its most profitable one. If it wasn't for that division, playstation and sony pictures would have bankrupted the company about 5 years ago
SONY is just incredibly brilliant.
Their playstation network alone will soon be worth more than all of Nintendo.

"FUN FACT OF THE DAY: Sony generated $4.3b from Network Sales alone (PSN) in calendar year 2015. Nintendo generated $4.7b from EVERYTHING."
INCREDIBLE! AMAZING! SIMPLY OUTSTANDING!
Kidtendo might be banking on the NX to save them, but SONY has the legendary Mark Cerny designing the PS4 NEO. NEO will no doubt be stronger than the NX.
Wonder why there are no other leaks for the NX? The previous NX leaks were controlled by Kidtendo to generate hype for their product. After SONY cockblocked them with the NEO spec leaks, Kidtendo execs were horrified at how weak the NX will look compared to the NEO.
You guys ever watch the Game of Thrones episode where the Boltons brilliants destroyed Stannis' army in secret but then Stannis walks into battle anyway knowing that the Boltons will win the battle? Stannie walked into battle knowing he would lose because that was his destiny and he accepted it. He just had to play his part. This is exactly what is happening in the console war.
Kidtendo was so confident they would get the upper hand with their meager 1.9 TF NX but then SONY stealthily leaked the 4.2 TF NEO which destroyed any hype the NX had. Kidtendo knows they will lose the war with SONY and are only going with the flow. They will announce the NX at E3 with little fanfare and eventually move to 3rd party.
Can't wait to play Mario on my NEO.
These delusional pontifications are truly a sight to behold. Oh well, at least I can respect him because he loves his console, and he is not like one of the more annoying types saying he has the console but hates nearly everything about it.
Lots of straight up false facts in this thread. For the record, Sony is worth 35.90 billion. If Sony wanted to sell the company, that is how much they are estimated to make on the deal. It's called Enterprise Value. Some people really need to learn something about economics before spouting their uninformed drivel.
@reduc_ab_: Really, I haven't seen any outright false information in this thread. Sure, Sony is a big company that would be worth a lot of money if they wanted to sell themselves, but most of that value is not liquid assets. They have been going through about a decade of financial troubles, and their debt was downgraded to junk status by most of the major ratings agencies. Things have begun to turn around for them though, and their rating is starting to go back up.
The point is, a company can be worth a lot and still have money troubles.

I was specifically referring to the claims that Sony is worth 17.7 billion, or some such nonsense.
As far as liquid assets go, actual economics, as in actualized plausibility in a free-market sense (when in reality a free-market is illusionary, and so does not actually exist--if you'll excuse the digression), has little to do with physical value, as it were. That sounds absurd, and it is; the science of greed is absolutely, empirically absurd from a tangible perspective. From an intangible perspective, call it meta-economics for the sake of a general label, the system of monetary worth, particularly when it comes to established entities (i.e. those bearing stock market viability) is entirely based on the (largely oblivious) will of the masses, which is, somewhat incidentally, founded upon notions inspired from a construct wearing the guise of risk ratios, probabilities, and, furthermore, downright randomness, when the actual reality could not be farther from any such "truth". As a result, as planned and executed with the cool precision of a surgeon, money is not really money, but only so many fibers and metal, and worth, likewise, is not actual worth, rather a sort of mirage, or phantom. You could even call it a demon...
So, yeah, as you say, a company can indeed be worth a lot and still have money troubles.
I bypass paying Sony for online and just play FF14 which for some reason allows me to play online for ZERO ammount but FF14 fees.
has this topic kinda gone bad for whateverthefuckthedweebusernameis or is it just me.

Its all Nintendo own fault, for screwing up everything regarding WiiU. From marketing to underpowered Hardware yet again(seriously you would think they've learned from their mistakes, on how third party devs ignored wii due to it not being powerful enough) Not to mention enough time to develop major first party games for launch, other than another nsmb title :/
I say it as a huge Nintendo fan
@trollhunter2: Sony has massive debt, Nintendo has zero. Also Sony is Sony, Nintendo is Wii U and 3DS. Wii U might have been a mistake, but its still made Nintendo profit. And it still has amazing games that Nintendo continue to give us, unlike Sony who could care less what Vita owners have to play.
@iandizion713: even with its depth, sony is factually still more worth than Nintendo , not sure if you were trolling, spreading lies or just being misinformed
@trollhunter2: No, what i had posted was what was stated before. Sony was worth 17 billion. The new 30 million figure is new, im not sure where it comes from, but its most likely an updated number after Sony did a lot of closing of companies to clean up.
@iandizion713: makes sense, I can see how you would've been misinformed. Still you could've atleast checked the current financials from said companies before posting
@trollhunter2: I could have, but i didnt feel it was important. I figured if i was wrong, someone would prove me wrong. I didnt pay attention to much in the forum, but i think your the first to challenge my number.
