PSN is ok, but voice chat is inconsistent. Other than that, it's ok, but live is better because of it's integration with the 360. It isn't bad, but it could be better. But really there aren't to many things you can't say that about.
I have yet to see why xbl is better. What it does have over psn is instant game invite,prviate chat and party chat. Oh and guarentee someone will have a mic,but most of the time thats a bad thing. Are those features cool on xbl yea 50 dollars worth no. I have used my free month on xbl and have yet to see why to pony up 50 bucks again to play online. Ill just use my PS3.
OMG dont even get me started on how crap i think xbox mic system is OPEN MICS FTL!!!!!!!! one of the big reasons i stopped paying for live. open mic system is the worst thing to happen to online gaming, little kids yelling, people talking on phones during the game, people listen to the stupidest rap music they can full blast, i found my self taking my headset off most of the time when i used to pay for live. psn is starting to see alot of open mic games to, but my two fav. socom and warhawk(it has the option too though) arent. no point in using a headset if the first thing i gotta do is mute everyone with one
No cross game invites. Can't join a friends game in progress. No private chat. No voice messaging.
I guess it's alright if online gaming isn't your main thing. However, for someone like me, PSN is a disappointment.
If you play catch-up, you might actually want to catch up. Xbox Live now has 8 people party chats, everyone in the party can be playing a different game. On PSN? You have to be on the XMB and stare at either a white background with little icons for different uses, or if you're lucky you can stare at someone if they have a PS Eye/Xbox Live Vision (it works) and you can't back out or you leave chat.
like the title says... no one talks compared to xbox live and for some reason the peoples mics always sound like **** bluetooth sucks for ps3 and i use a usb mic and it sounds so much better then any other mic there. only my 2 reasons why i think it sucks... otherwise the from the lag and all that its on par with xbl

I have had both PSN and XBL and you know what? The only difference i noticed was that PSN only takes money from me when i'm buying in the store.
Did I read that correctly the PSN is on par with XBL except for lag and the blue tooth headset problems you have... yet you then manage to say the XBL destroys the PSN?!?!?!
I have no lag and my Sony Ericsson bluetooth headset works fine... try playing at a different time of the day or stop downloading your p0rn while you game online and maybe get a better blue tooth head set.
Also to istreakforfood... its easier for parents to spend £120 on an X-Box Arcade than £280 on a PS3

I had that when LBP first launched though it cleared up after a couple of days where i guess they adjusted for it. As for the mic, I had a third party one that was as you said just awful but since i bought the official Sony one it has been much better, the 360 ones have higher quality though true.
The party system is on a whole other level on Live, and the private chat...what is the deal with having to quit the game Im in to talk to one of my friends on PSN? Went to see my friends friends list, oops, can't do that either. THis is kinda nitpicky, but having to launch the store seems less then intuitive.
I have a ps3 and xbox 360 and I play online strictly on ps3. why? because its free and i like resistance 2 way better than halo 3, I can play cod 4 and waw for free, sports games free. all lag free, I mean why would i pay 50 bucks a year to do the same thing.
