PSP is the first system to even come close to nintendo's grasp on the handheld industry. UMDS can still be bought, sony still makes small amounts of them (MGM/columbia pictures). It has amazing 3rd party games, as well as amazing first party. It is a great multimedia machine, and is a great handheld.Since the PSP was a monumental flop you use the graphics arguement again? I love it.
Go watch some lame UMDs.

Your opinion makes it a great handheld? No, the hype for this system was absolutely ridiculous, music, movies, PS2 quality graphics. It didn't live up to any of it, and all of the other systems that tried to challenge Nintendo failed miserably, sure it's the best attempt, but its pretty far off.

What are you talking about? PSP is nowhere near a flop. It's the best franchise to fight against Nintendo's handheld division.
You obviously weren't in system wars before the DS / PSP war started. Cows were hyping it the Nintendo handheld killer, and of course its the best attempt, all of the others were complete and utter failures, if you take a look back at all of them, they were pathetic attempts to conquer Nintendo.

It lives up to music and movies...dunno what you're talking about. The system works? Phenominal. Are you proud that the music feature works on the system? And that so do the movies? Music and movies are completely different than games, especially music, with the quality of stuff that is released on the system.

Damage control confirmed. :|
Let's see here... Which systemis going to deliver this year? Comparing games coming out, DS wins in a landslide.
better graphics AND better games. It's a better all around handheld device.ChiefFreeman
No Mistwalker RPG, no original Final Fantasy games, just remakes and ports, a remake of an old Megaman game and aslew ofPS2 ports does not make the PSP a good handheld. Where are all the good original games and not just watered down PS2 titles? At least the DS is getting great games and more of them.

"no original final fantasy games" um what about "Final Fantasy VII Crisis core?
[QUOTE="dem0truk"]I'll just add to the sarcastic tone of this thread:

lol you guys just wait untill Star Wars: Battlefront: Renegade Squadron comes out. 16 players online infastructure.
I'd take Loz: Phantom Hourglass over that any day.

Now that's something completely different. That would be a definite plus for buying a PSP. But your original post makes it seem like all us DS owners just didn't realise that the PSP was more powerful when we bought it. Obviously we knew how powerful the systems were, we just bought the DS for other reasons, which probably vary from person to person.[QUOTE="dem0truk"]I'll just add to the sarcastic tone of this thread:

Just because Star Wars kick started the movie industry doesn't mean it can do the same to the PSP.
Edit: Star Wars was an original movie at its time, this game is just another rehash of the Battlefront series and the Star Wars name. Star Wars was a fantastic movie series but they are just ruining it.
the PSP has more "console-like" games while the DS has puzzle games, games with bad graphics and games targeted towards younger people.Rikusaki
You mean the psp has console ports and some good games, while the ds offers innovative games that aren't all about good graphics.

You fail.
PSP doesn't have Ninten Dogs and Diaries of a Housemaid......that's why it's doing bad. I'm not sure who these people are that are buying the DS and playing those games but that's the reason why graphics don't matter.......those people coudl care less.
I still say the PSP isn't a total failure but I can assure anyone it'll never catch DS now.

Because that's all PSP is. A handheld PS2. The DS is unique and fun. I could care less about the graphics. It introduces a new way to play, with very unique games.

You know what even if nintendo take the DS down the same route there taking the wii down, I would still rather them have that hold on the handheld market. If nintendo does get beaten in the handheld market I hope its by microsoft because after experiencing the psp and yeah I have one(even if some of the games are good thats the developers not sony remember) its clear sony does'nt know what handheld gaming is all about. I'll say it was a good first try because there were some concepts I liked, It could have been solid at least if you could have easily played ps1 and ps2 games on it but it general it seemed to me that sony wanted to make a glorified MP3/4 player and the abbility to play games were an add on. Like a mobile phones main purpose is communication but they'll add the abbility to play games.

for 169 and another 100 you can have a Cell Phone, and Video, internet , Game,MP3, thats much better than 599 for an iphone(worlds better) PSP sold 22million, far from a "Monumental Flop". The PSP will be around for a long time , so will the DS , the longer there both out, the better the PSP is gonna look for DS owners who already own a DS have alot of games and wanna try something differant.[QUOTE="Rikusaki"]the PSP has more "console-like" games while the DS has puzzle games, games with bad graphics and games targeted towards younger people.Homesrfan

The PSP also doesn't have Pokemon, 2 Castlevanias, MPH, Resident Evil, Mario, a real FF, etc yet. Well, it will have a couple of some of those franchises coming out, but you don't want to argue about future lineups lol.

and ALL those games I listed are for PSP.

And 7 of those, you could play on the PS2, my point has been made.
My point with that link was to show that the games weren't bad, and they weren't all kiddy, puzzle, games, like you claimed.

UMD's may have been a complete failure but the psp certainley was'nt
yea, the psp didn't do bad for a first timer, but it is a flop cause it was hyped the ds killer and was supposed to like kill Nintendo lol. It didn't even come close, thats why it's a flop.you gotta admit that SONY is doing pretty darn good for their FIRST portable EVER!
nobody could stand up to nintendo when it came to portable systems! remember the SEGA
Game Gear? It was a failure!

Does DS have God of War, Silent Hill, Star Ocean 1st and 2nd story,Disgea,FF Crysis,Silent Hill, Coming out for it? the DS is great i own it but it's game can rarley be played for much longer than 1hr , without getting tired of the Low Budgetness of the games, PSP has a bright future. you gotta remember the DS is for Kids, a Parent may buy 3 or 4 (1 for each Kid) while the PSP is for Hardcore Gamers who buy there own system. I know adults own DS's too , i'm 25 and i own a DS. The System is meant for younger people So parents get lil kids crying if they don't get one.you gotta admit that SONY is doing pretty darn good for their FIRST portable EVER!

It did do a good job for sony's first hanheldbut if there second handheld is made along the same lines the psp was it will never beat the DS because sony just does'nt know what handheld gaming is all about
