Nope, xbox. We've grown used to it now but take a step back and think of it for a minute, where is this x coming from?death919
That would be from Direct X, which was the purpose behidn designing the console. Direct X Box, sounds fairly retarded, so they dropped the Direct. Of course, the "X" part of Direct X is another matter entirely. On topic, PSP Go is a horrible, horrible name.

Now I'm starting to get the feeling this new PSP will be some good stuff. :)

Seeing haters, or naysayers just to be non-offensive, is resorting to bashing the name of the console and nothing else, it means there's really not much to bash about. :)

Anyways, the names of every new console always sounds weird to begin with. If you guys were here back when nintendo replaced 'revolution' with the 'wii', you would remember the head-scratching moments. So with time everyone will get used to anything.

Don't know if its the worst name ever but, its quite an annoying sounding name. It sounds slightly childish, it sounds a bit camp as well "PSP GO GO YEAH!!!".

PSP Playstation Portable already lacked imagination, but I see they wanted it, to be a bit more mature, but then they add "Go" on the end and it sounds a bit off, like out of image.

I could imagine for image purposes a DS Go and a PSPi but this way sounds like some weired parody.

I imagine they wanted it to sound more fun, or light hearted.

But at this point its getting strange, I take it this is not the PSP 2, how many times are they going to keep making changes to the PSP and releasing a new version, now they seem to be redesigning it and trying to change its image.

Why are Sony doing everything but ensuring proper developer support for it.

It makes sense. It's a portable system. The "Go" is justified. And it does not sound bad.

[QUOTE="SMR-Venom"][QUOTE="siLVURcross"] Let x represent anything. The console is in the shape of a box. Xbox. Therefore, x multiplies box = ? I really did not know where I was going with this.Scoob64

DirectXbox.... duh :P

It took till page 3 for someone to know the answer to this question... jeeze... that is amazing..

Xbox = original concept of 'Direct X box'...

everyone does know what Direct X is I hope :)

Wow I guess it's true, you do learn something new everyday.

so much hate for the PSP GO .... its really slim and small, the button layout looks worse than it really is and so what if it DD. Its great, you don't have to carry around 10 UMD discs around everywhere. Sony will probably have the whole PSP line up on the PSP Online Store anyways.

[QUOTE="gamer-adam1"]i think its fitst, dual screen, and the i probably means the camerafoxhound_fox

How does "i" mean "camera"?

The only reason they chose "i" was to finagle in on Apple's market.

The "i" in DSi means "eye" as in the camera. Not a fan of the name myself but it's better than Dreamcast, Xbox, Nintendo 64, 3DO and Jaguar.

DSi and PSP Go! Are both horrible, horrible names.

dragonpuppy

I 100% agree but cleary PSPGo is stupider Just what makes PSPGo more go than older PSPs? Do u ppl think if PSGo was the 1st name of the handheld, will it be more acceptable? Think about it, during the early stages of a Sony handheld and currently, who desribed the handheld as a Playstation to GO

The Go is probably a Japanese word. Much like Wii. We see Wii, but the Japanese see something else.

Go is Japanese for 4 i think.

Same. PSP2 wouldn't be appropriate since it isn't the next gen of the handheld.

agree with this completely, the aim of this version was to make it way more portable than the previous versions, so the name suits it just fine.

I dont mind the "PSP Go"

It is afterall, more portable than the current PSP models and is based on DD so not carrying around UMDs or a case for the UMDs is a plus. All you gotta do is throw the thing in your pocket (It will actually fit in the pocket now) and "Go". No worries of carrying cases, no worries of what games to bring....theyre all already internally on the unit. Just Go....I also think the design may be in one of those situations where it looks better in person than in images.....kind of like the previous iPod Nano that was short and stubby. Looked much better in person.

Just how it makes it more portable than PSP 1/2/3000? those PSPs can have DD games and UMD

like we know its portable, so its moveable. i wonder why they didnt go with a PSP2?

gamer-adam1
Because it's the same PSP with a few different features. 4000 would have been better.

No. DSi is worse.

foxhound_fox
No. Once you get used to it, the name kinda grows on you. PSP Go, on the other hand, keeps reminding me of a little boy traversing the safari. I don't know why, it just does. That's just a bad name.

PSP2 sounds too generic. A little creativity with the naming isn't such a bad thing.
