USA =/= World
How much has both handheld sold?EVOLV3The DS is at around 67 million while the PSP is at around 31 million.
Just cause their sales are in equal or a little lower to DS's weekly sales doesn't mean much when DS is still winning sales and not to mention that ther's 20+ million DSes out there already... with like what... 14 million PSPs?yoshi_64
Give or take 40 million.
A quick lesson in Statistics.
If Product A outsells Product B 5-1 in a month. And then Product A outsells Product B 4-1 the next month, the gap is NOT getting smaller, it is still widening.
I wouldn't say Nintendo is exactly worried, but kudos to Sony for really pushing the PSP. Rather than throwing in the towel they have been constantly updating and improving the platform. PBSnipes
Well said.
Seriously, I love my psp, I use it all the time. I am also glad that it has a good line up this year, but honestly it will never "catch up" to the ds, ever...
when i broke my DS, i looked at the PSP in a closer veiw, and i found otu that the PSP is WAY more worth it that the DS. here are my ppoints
you cnat hold music on the DS
you cant hold video on the DS
Ds graphics suck
PSP has GOOD games.
psp has internet
psp is more confortable to hold
the ds only sells more because its for smaller kids that their parents are looking for a cheap system to keep their kids entertained. the PSP if for about 12 year olds and up because it hold music, videos and better games for a little more money it is worth it though, my PSP keeps me entertained for hours..

This is coming from someone that actually has both systems: The DS is far better. Much better games unless you didn't have a PS2, in which case the ports might be better than DS games. I have an I-Pod, great computer, etc, so my PSP has been collecting lots of dust.

Its all on opinion, my friend.

And luckily as far as PSP/DS sales go, most people have made the right decision. Thank God for GoW though.
The DS has games and is a game system
The PSP has fewer games and tried to make up for it by being a mediocre everything else machine.
I mean my cell phone does more then the PSP does except for games and that's why I have a DS.
While the DS is getting more games the PSP is getting a keyboard attachment.

i dont see how it could have better games... what is better than Socom tactical strike? killzone liberartion? you can actually use a mic to talk to players and not that gay DS mic that goes over one ear and it only used for like 3 games. you can have full chats with this mic and have you ever played GTA vice city stories? the best game. you cna go back to playing ur cooking momma and do math for for fun with brain age while im killing terrorists and talking to friends on PSP games.SF_KiLLaMaN
Yep, go back to your GTA ports, while I go back to new games like Advance Wars, Castlevania, Zelda, FFIII, MPH, etc. I'll play Socom as well, though the other games you mentioned suck to me. Good thing I get to enjoy both systems, since I'm not a fanboy.
Dont really care who wins... but for me, I feel cooler busting out a PSP than a DS. (its pink! yay)
I like that I can play bomberman and other games with my 2 other PSP's on one UMD (brother and sister can play me... and my cousin who has a psp can join in too). I like that I have 1600+ music on it. I like that I have Skype on it to talk to my dad anywhere. I want the Navigator thing to come since I get lost easy.
lets see, DS + ipod video = cell phone = around $500, psp = $250
having it all on 1 thing, priceless.

There are allot of fallacies in you post. The problem with the psp is that sony wanted to sell their gaming system as a hand-held multi-media system, which personally was good for me, but bad for the majority of people. For me, the PSP is great, I love all its functionality, but if you have an iPod or something similar there isn't much reason to use its extra applications, an iPod takes care of music and video.
Now saying that the DS graphics suck is something that is subjective but besides that graphics have never been the focus of portable gaming, what is most important is that the games are good. Now the PSP does have good games, but the problem is that it doesn't have nearly as many great games as the DS. The PSP just isn't the best portable videogame system. Portable gaming is for on the go gaming that's played in unusual places for short bursts. The PSP has loading times which digs into the limited time you have for your portable gaming, and as for playing it in a non-typical place, well... have you ever tried playing your PSP outside? I have, and in any natural light it is almost impossible to see the PSP screen, I even tried using it outside on a overcast day, and I still couldn't see the screen.
The PSP does have internet, but it's a poor browser, and surfing the web is always better on a computer, but if the PSP is the only option that you have, then I guess that its better then none. And as for being more comfortable, that is subjective too.
Now, you say that "the DS is for smaller kids" but what I hear is "I'm talking from my ass" do you have any proof of this, any links, any statistics to back your claim? No, you don't, because what you just said is not true. I know plenty of older people who play DS over PSP and as for PSP being more expensive DS- $130 PSP-$170. It is more expensive, but not THAT much more expensive. I highly doubt that $40 is the reason that PSP is selling poorly in comparison to the DS.

Mediocre games + mediocre video + mediocre audio + mediocre phone = PSP
PSP = overpriced and underwhelming
The PSP, it does so many things almost well
