Psp vs the ds rant

Ok guys I must get this off my chest. I was trying to post a comment on a youtube video but as you can see it was way too long, so I decided to post it here. I know this has probally already been stated but like I said I need to post it somewere. Regarding the psp vs ds wars:

Too bad you guys get stuck with crappy unimaginitive ports. Just to name a few high quality current and upcoming DS titles:

Lunar Knights, Final Fantasy 3, Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, Zelda Phantom Hourglass, Dragon Quest DS, Dynasty Warriors DS, Touch the Dead, Kirby Canvas curse, FFF: Chocobo Tales, Phoenix Wright series, Hotel Dusk, Mario Kart, NSMB, Yoshis Island 2, Castlevania DOS and POR, Metroid Prime Hunters, Metroid Prime Pinball, Elite Beat Agents, Animal Crossing, Meteos, Clubhouse games

Not to mention the fact that Nitendo just annouced 79 new Ds titles. And what does the psp get? Rehashed gta's, Socoms, Burnouts and God of War(with an extra FF thrown in for good mesure). Now I would agree that some of the titles I posted were rehash's and the psp does have two anticapated titles(God of War and Final Fantasy) but you must admit the DS is doing wayyyyyyy better.

psp rocks, dont let anyone tell you it doesnt. i love it and i want a ds but enjoy my psp alot.rocktimusprime

yes i own both and i am on my 3rd ds, but i know thier are more games i want on my psp this year than my ds, to name a few god of war chains of olympus, final fantasy 7, tales of the world, jeane de arc.

I have a psp, and i find it extremely boring. There are no games which you can call "spectacular", just medicore games that I wish i didn't buy. p.s i am not a ds fanboy and i do not own a ds

Also, Pheonix Wright (the 1st one) is a port of a Japanese GBA game and it`s also available on mobile phones.

Dynasty Warriors DS was canned along time ago. If you read the reviews of previous DW's you'll see why he would consider it junk.

As for "no must-haves", that's competely a matter of opinion. I consider Portable Ops & Daxter must-haves, as well as the upcoming God Of War and other AAA's, and most PSP owners would agree.

You call all of those games rehashes? Perhaps you missed Loco Roco, Lumines, Silent Hill, and basically every other game on that list. Those games suffer from bad controls? Who are you to say when you don't even own a PSP:|

The only game that is rated AAA according to gamerankings is Lumines with a measly 90.1 %. The next best is wipeout with 88.7. However the DS on the other hand has has three triple A titles with more big names on the way. And whats this crap about Daxter and Portable as "must have titles"? there not even triple A. Yes their decent but nothing more, and about the controls I technicly don't but a few of my friends have psp's and playing rachet completly blows. And I didn't say it didn't have a few unique title, however half of your list isn't original including: Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy or Wipeout(not to mention Lumines being a tetris ripoff which was a very good game on the DS by the way). And also its not an "ignorant thread" its the facts. One more thing God of War is not AAA it most likly won't even pull an 8.5 because once again its a PS2 port.Battleer

Who cares if they're not original?  Who cares of they're ports?  They're solid games that I can take with me anywhere.  That IS the point of portable gaming, isn't it?  My DS gets some usage out of me, but I bring my PSP with me everywhere.

As if the games weren't enough, let's not gloss over the PSP's media features.  They are definitely additional selling points for the system.

PSP has sold over 20 milion, so it's not that dead and have you seen it's line up for this year? The PSP has a very good year ahead of it.

Who cares if they're not original? Who cares of they're ports? They're solid games that I can take with me anywhere. That IS the point of portable gaming, isn't it? My DS gets some usage out of me, but I bring my PSP with me everywhere.

Washed out? The gaming experiences don't feel washed out at all. As pointed out before, it's not all ports anyway. Even then, aren't ports real games as well? At this point, you're just splitting hairs.

A game like Marvel Ultimate Alliance is still very enjoyable on the PSP. So are games like SOCOM and Ridge Racer.

And geez, you're really showing how much you don't know about the PSP. You don't have to buy UMDs to watch movies. I've burned my own DVDs to watch from my memory stick along with TV shows and music. How will the DS web browser allow for that?

So what about Hotel Dusk.  Point n click adventures have been around for a long time.  Is EBA just another rhythm game?  What about any of the RPGs?  An argument could be made about alot of games.

Changing the definition of a port really doesn't help you in your attempt to bash another system. 

The PSP is an abysmal joke, 5 hours of battery life is craptacular for games. The DS Lite gets up to 12 hours of gaming (about 8 if you are playing on wifi a lot though) and there are tonnes of great games. I think I have played close to 35 DS games that I enjoyed in some form or another, there are some great puzzle games like Tetris and Magnetica as well as Phoenix Wright and Trauma Center which are really enjoyable titles if you want to play something different. Final Fantasy 3 was an amazing game, looks like a PS1 titles really. Yoshi's Island 2 I was kind of disappointed with, the game was too easy in the beginning but wound up painfully annoying, you can get 99 lives within the first 6 worlds and its almost impossible to die until the last 2 worlds. Magical Starsign was great and I really enjoyed StarFox Command. I dont see the PSP getting phenominal new games and instead just gets ports and rehashes.DSgamer64

Aside from that, you implied that ports are automatically bad.  That is totally false. 

Your post would of worked about 2years ago when the psp was getting nothing but ports, Now no.

There was a website that was doing all the psp misconceptions, i cant find the site now, if i do ill post it. ill tell u one thing i kind of remember off hand.

It was taking about ports,and counting AA games and how many of them were ports. The psp had something about 100+games there were AA. They counted the ports and got rid of them, 80 something games that were left. If u take a look at the ds game they had something like 65+ AA games and that is counting ports. So saying all psp game are ports is not really smart.

Another thing i want to point out is games that are on both handhelds. The psp versions is almost always better (if not always). A Great game right now that shows that is Puzzle quest. Gamerankings has it psp88.3 ds version 80.8. So loading times and contrls didnt hurt the psp. And duel screen didnt make the ds better.

If u think the God of war game for the psp was a port, It shows u dont know much about games for the psp. Theres tons of great games coming out this year for the psp.

Lunar Knights, Final Fantasy 3, Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, Zelda Phantom Hourglass, Dragon Quest DS, Dynasty Warriors DS, Touch the Dead, Kirby Canvas curse, FFF: Chocobo Tales, Phoenix Wright series, Hotel Dusk, Mario Kart, NSMB, Yoshis Island 2, Castlevania DOS and POR, Metroid Prime Hunters, Metroid Prime Pinball, Elite Beat Agents, Animal Crossing, Meteos, Clubhouse games

Not to mention the fact that Nitendo just annouced 79 new Ds titles. And what does the psp get? Rehashed gta's, Socoms, Burnouts and God of War(with an extra FF thrown in for good mesure). Now I would agree that some of the titles I posted were rehash's and the psp does have two anticapated titles(God of War and Final Fantasy) but you must admit the DS is doing wayyyyyyy better.

Elite Beats? PSP has DJ Max Portable 1 & 2, which takes a LOT more skill to play than Elite Beats.
Phoenix Wright? PSP is getting Harvey Birdman.
Advance Wars? PSP has Field Commander (Advance Wars in 3d)

I'm not trying to bash the DS, just trying to be realistic here. Yes the DS has good games, but don't count out the PSP, it's in for a potentially good year with blockbusters or interesting titles such as Final Fantasy:CC, Final Fantasy Tactics, God of War: CoO, Jean D'Arc, Silent Hill: Origins, SWAT (dunno if it's good), Monster Hunter Freedom 2, Crush, etc

I'm not saying that some of these games aren't rehashed or ports or whatever, but they are potentially good games. Just because a game is a rehash or port doesn't mean it's not welcome as part of the system's library.

Also with PSP's other possibilities, homebrew, can't really talk about it here, but the PSP's capabilities destroy whatever the Wii's Virtual Console can throw at it.

actually, I don't, as you neglected to say such quality PSP games as:

Lumines, Loco Roco, Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters, Daxter, Syphon Filter, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Wipeout Pure, Gitaroo Man Lives!, Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception, Killzone: Liberation and Every Extend Extra.

btw, these are just the games that are already out. Upcoming games:

Silent Hill: Origins, Final Fantasy Tactics, Loco Roco 2, Wipeout Pulse, Crush, Devil May Cry and Coded Arms:  Contagion.

btw, I didn't include any of the PSP games you listed before.

Also, Dynasty Warriors sucks and you know it.

And about your comment about DS games being rehash's I already told you that was a bad idea to bring up ported gameplay as pretty much every game has rehashed something.

Psp's otther possibilaties? Thats what pc's are for and they can do it way better. Also good luck with doing anything before the battery runs out.

But hey just because you came on it with a great attitude is awesome. And as i've said in my other debates I really would enjoy owning a psp and I'm sure I would have fun time with it. Thx for the debate im enjoying it:) Now to continue:lol:

For me, DS vs. PSP is like SNES vs. Genesis; a matter of preference.  I don't really see one that's clearly better than the other, I see them as about equal.

DS is so much better than the PSP.

I have a PSP and I actually do use it as a paperweight. Only reason I am keeping it is for God of War and Parappa

1. All those fancy multimedia features arent that speacial, most people (like me) already have Ipods, and the PSP's Music and Video features are puny when compared to an actual MP3 player. Sure the PSPs functions are ok for a couple songs/movies, but if you want to take you entire music library with you, stick with an Ipod. Besides, you need a Memory Stick for the PSP, last time i checked, for  a decent sized one, you need to fork over another $100.

2.PSP has a small amount of good games, and a lot of thier games (good or not) are just ports from the PS2. I already have a PS2, and those ports were much better on the PS2. I will admit that their are some ok original PSP games, like Loco Roco, but thats it, they are only OK, Loco Roco was a huge let down.

3. Its price is still not justified

psp because my ds died on its own and nintendo wants me 2 pay $150 to repair it
