Time after time, I'm impressed by how SONY can design and engineer such perfection. They did it with the PS4 with its supercharged secret SoC that rivals even the most expensive gaming PCs and they've done it again with PSVR, which rivals the experience of far more expensive virtual reality headsets.

The reason why Microsoft hasn't copied SONY's PSVR is because Microsoft knows it can't compete. SONY has too many geniuses working for them that MS can't ever hope to match. With Mark Cerny, the 21st century Issac Newton, leading SONY's engineering team, there is nothing MS can do that can match SONY's engineering prowess. Microsoft would need to make a $75 million VR headset to come close to the power of the PSVR. That's how good SONY's geniuses are.

To all the people who are boo-hooing the initial allotment, allow me to divulge some information.

Brick and mortar stores like Gamestop and whatnot are taking preorders for the next two days. So, anyone who wants to preorder the launch bundle can do so at brick-and-mortar as we speak through tomorrow. If presales outstrip supply, then you will likely not see a subsequent allotment given to Amazon/online retailers for some time. What's left of the production run up to launch will possibly be re-sku'd/unbundled.

I'm personally waiting for the unbundled PSVR. I already own Move controllers and will be getting a PS camera soon so the bundle is useless to me :P

I may keep the bundle I preordered. The way I see it, this will hopefully be an upgraded Move from the PS3 model that uses the same micro-USB form factor for charging as opposed to the old model. One less cord to have medusa-ing its way out of the front of my Quad. Also, I like new things lol I haven't used my PS3 Move in so long, I honestly wonder if the battery is worth a crap anymore. The bundle also comes with a game it seems. So, screw it. lol

You're probably right. Most likely around 5K I'm sure. We know they will get more preorders in though. They aren't sold out everywhere. You can still preorder at Target, BestBuy and Gamestop right now.

NeoGaf thinks that most of these are gonna get pushed out past launch date. Personally, my local Gamestops had 0 people preorder instore. I was able to grab one on Best Buys website around 2PM. Hopefully I get a launch bundle. There really is no way of knowing how well PSVR did today. If you go by Amazon it did very well. If you go by all of the other retailers there are some questions..... Like why can I still get one? Or, "Are these guaranteed at launch?"

Yeah, we'll see how things look at this time next week. I'm not rushing to preorder one. The funny thing is the same thing happened with Kinect, the PS4 Camera (when it first launched) and even the MOVE when they were first announced. I honestly don't think there will be any shortages when October gets here. Sony will have plenty of time to meet whatever demands it gets.

It didn't chart, and as others have shown there's still pre-orders available at multiple other LARGE vendors, unit numbers for Amazon are likely quite low as has already been stated and it sold out, that's not a reflection of the product being purchased in any large quantity.

Mmm bad news... also this is really surprising. I can't believe more than 3 people bought this thing. For how useful VR is for gaming it should cost no more than 50 dollars.

I'm afraid there is no damage control being done here, you just can't handle the reality of the situation. You're drumming up sales figures and public interest for something that has obviously not sold nearly the amount you like to lead on. The PSVR headset bundle selling out on Amazon is a completely unknown metric for unit measurement, but given that there are multiple other large retailers which still have pre-orders available and it didn't make the top 100 for the month after being updated it's fairly safe to say that Amazon had pretty limited numbers.

This isn't fanboyism, this isn't damage control, this is sound logic that any rational person should arrive at given the available information. I'm sorry you can't handle that and your skewed perceptions are leading you to a different conclusion than is rationally clear, I will pray for you.

Doesn't matter if Amazon is out of stock or not. You can still preorder them everywhere else. Walmart got their shipment in this morning. They didn't sell out in 10 mins. Just checked and they still have 3 left. Gamestop is usually the first place to sell out because millions of gamers go their to preorder their games and hardware, just like Amazon.

I just want to go on record as saying that I expect Amazon to get a rather sizable bulk sum of these since they are a major online retailer. I'm also curious to see, as a result of their email notification system for preorders, whether they are able to keep up with stated demand or not. Did people turn to brick and mortar to fulfill their preorder demand or is the channel still tight? That's really the key factor in this @blackace
