But PlayStation VR is not just a Playstation 4 peripheral. While Ito warned that "nothing will happen right away," he revealed that Sony was considering plans to enable the use of Playstation VR through connection with PCs in the future. "Since Playstation 4 shares a lot of its internals with PCs, the possibility is there. At the moment we are focused on games and we are not ready to make any announcements at this stage, but I'd say there will be an expansion into various fields."

So what do you think? For someone with both PS4 and Gaming PC this could be great.

It's worth it to just spend the extra money and get proper headsets, the only advantage I can see to this is if you plan on using it for both.

The question is, why would you want to use the PSVR on PC when there are better, higher end solutions available?

This is good news for PC/PS4 owners like myself. I plan on using PSVR on my PC and PS4 for sure.

Cost being one of them.

If I were to get on board with these early VR iterations, I may as well buy a higher-end option for the PC. This would be a neat idea for those who wish to use VR on both systems, but don't want to drop all that loot.

Sony should do it as its going to happen with or without them. They don't necessary have to allow psvr games. Just make the drivers and sdk open for pc and allow the community to create applications. It will benefit ps4. They can keep the games exclusive to ps4. The device is not too shabby. Nice screens may loose on total resolution and 10 degrees view but the standard is there. The refresh rate is better when it gets a hardware that can take advantage of it natively. Should be fun.

If it isnt officially, then it will be unofficially no doubt. Not sure why anyone would want it though since the Rift and Vive are both better.

No. Its a piece of hardware, just like the DS3/4 that I can use on my PC.

Personally, I think $500 for a set-up that works with both my PS4 and PC is a lot easier to jump on than $500 for my PS4 plus $600 (plus whatever the controllers cost) for my PC. Then there's the possibility that since the PS VR has a lower resolution screen, I won't have to spend as much on my PC upgrade.

It is logical, No matter if we talk OR, Vive or PSVR, they face the same battle, and they will need as many consumers on board as possible.

Currently I think it would be wise to consider VR as its own platform so to speak, if it fails on PC? Well then kiss PSVR goodbye even if moderately successful on the PS4, they need 3rd party to work on titles for as many of these as possible.

So Sony is making a very smart move here, offering a lower entry option, they need VR to catch on, on PC as much as on PS4, if there is only Sony internal studios to develop VR games, it is simply too expensive in the long run, not to mention that pretty much every Sony exclusive would have to be relagated to VR development.

So it is smart, Sony has its own walled garden for revenue, but offers the option to have it work on PC, as well.

That is of course IF they follow through, I doubt Sony has invested as much money in this as the other ones have. Still All VR options are in the "we stand together, or fall together" boat atm, Later on, there would be more room to carve out ones own new piece of the pie.

Well you kind of have a point but we arent talking about todays prices, PSVR may release on PC in the future is what the OP said and in that future it is unlikely that the Rift will still be $500. Sure you would still have the argument of why buy two when you can have one that works on both, but you could also argue why settle for the weaker option on two platforms when you can have the best (or second best if Rift) on one.

@pelvist: Obviously it doesn't make sense for those who wish to get VR at it's best but to those who might plan on doing VR on both ps4&pc and dont feel like investing in 2 headsets. Personally I don't think PSVR for PC is going to be a big thing, but there's next to no reasons why Sony shouldn't do it.

Once the PSVR flops on it's own console, Sony will be scrambling and hope the PC will bring some life into it. If the PS4K still isn't powerful enough to make the PSVR experience the best it could possibly be, it will be on PC as a last ditch effort to milk the peripheral till the last drop.
