The majority of the public thinks that the PS3 is doomed to finish last place in this console cycle. Well the public is, like always, wrong. I know that numbers dont lie and the PS3 is last place now, BUT there have only been about 20 million consoles sold this gen, and last gen sold over 170 million consoles total. Difference between this gen and last gen is that the PS3 has two more active competitors this time around than they did last time. The 360 has a much larger library, many former PS exclusives, and a 33% to 50% lower price depending on the model. It will always be cheaper than the PS3, because when the PS3 drops in price the 360 will too, just like it did last gen.

Same holds true to the PS3 as competition to the Wii. The Wii has blown past expectations, has a few great games and will always have the N-only franchises, but has proven itself as the "it" console in catering to millions of "sorta gamers". It already has doubled the PS3's sales numbers, and at a price almost 60% less than the PS3. You can also guarantee the Wii will always be cheaper than either the 360 or PS3 as well

I'm not trying to tell you that the PS3 won't eventually be successful in some deree, but it's got a lot harder road, less exclusives, and a much higher price than last gen. So it's not likely that it will reach anywhere near the consoles it sold during the PS or PS2 eras.

Actually I did because I supported the Dreamcast. Last gen PS2 was worse than all competition in every area except the games it got a year after launch. This gen PS3 is better than the competition in every way except we haven't gotten to the games yet. Really nothing is different this gen imo other than lemmings and sheep hatred is heard a lot better. People were just as critical of PS2 when it launched for the very same reasons but those people weren't heard by the general public.

Yes the hidden, ninja-like demand. It's sneaking in the shadows, waiting for the right moment to strike. The first was the actual release of the system. The last right moment was the Europe release. Next will be E3. Then it's going to be the holiday season.

You'd better hope they make that move soon, or the next-gen will pop up before the PS3 ever makes a move with it's hidden demand.

Sometimes one or two of the younger mods half-read a post, notice a word and take it out of context. You should be able to get your moderation reversed if you message one of the senior moderators. At least I would hope so.
